Fern Haus - Close to Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore, Grand Marais

Welcome to Fern Haus, a three bedroom, one bathroom home just outside of Grand Marais, Michigan. Fern Haus has queen beds in two bedrooms and a twin bed with a trundle bed underneath it in the third, which allows up to six guests to sleep comfortably in beds. Full kitchen with all the basic cooking utensils and appliances (pots, pans, dishes and flatware, a full size gas stove, oven, and refridgerator, microwave, coffee make and toaster) make preparing meals at the cottage easy.
Fern Haus makes a perfect "home base" for exploring the region; we are located in the heart of the UP with Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore just five miles west, Tahquemenon Falls State Park to the east, Oswalds Bear Ranch, Garland Zoo and Historic Fayette Town Site to our south.
Lake Superior borders to the north, providing miles of sandy and rocky beaches that are often open to exploration with no one else around.
Come stay, explore all the UP has to offer...then wrap it up in the comfort and conveniece of Fern Haus.

Returning tourists

We came for the beaches, nearby waterfall and lighthouse. We traveled with a dog and liked the quiet neighborhood for walking, and the welcoming feel from shop owners.

Great location

We stayed for only one night to take in the evening on the beach and day in Grand Marais. The proximity to town was great and the area was very quiet. It was a great place to stay and will certainly book for a wintertime snowmobile trip.

Pictured Rocks Home Base

Nice little house...good location east of Pictured Rocks. Really private backyard with woods and fire pit was a nice bonus. But not too far that you feel like your out in the sticks, since Grand Marais is a short drive down the hill. The house has everything we needed. Kitchen is well stocked with all tools. Interestingly the internet didn't work well at all the first night. It wouldn't have been a big deal but we were trying to plan for the next day at Pictured Rocks. But by the next morning, everything was blazing fast and we were able to plan our day.

Great Place for a UP Retreat

This property is very well kept and we’ll stocked. It was extremely clean and a perfect size for a family. It’s location is great to get around Pictured Rocks. We would definitely recommend.

Great place to lay our heads

The property was good. We found it easily. The rooms were just as expected. We did have a problem with bugs - not sure if that is usual. Also, the toilet seemed to be working due to a paperclip? Then it stopped working. All in all, it was a great place to stay.
