Peaceful, Serene and Scenic

My wife and I really enjoyed our stat at Sunset Retreat! I mean, how can you go wrong being right on the canal and can view manatee and dolphin literally out your back window! Such quiet and beautiful setting with calm water and quiet neighbors. The house has a nice dock to put in a boat, or in my case a kayak right into Matlacha Pass and it turned out to be a great place to easily explore the mangrove islands and sandbars. It's also within easy walking distance from the cool shops and nearby restaurants.Miguel and Elvia are super nice and responsive hosts and were just a text away from answering any and all questions we had. Sadly, lightning had knocked out the air conditioners in both bedrooms and parts were needed that didn't arrive before our stay ended. We were able to sleep on the sun porch and couch so it was definitely doable. The hosts kept us informed of the status of the repairs and graciously awarded us a partial refund for our discomfort. About the only thing we didn't understand was the need for guests to launder the towels when a cleaning fee is also charged. But we did so and consider our stay a real favorite vacation because of the accommodations and location! We definitely hope to return to Sunset Retreat!

Beautiful waterfront sunset location!

Very clean. Plenty of room, we were three adults with plenty of space. Great indoor patio and outside patio facing the water. Highly recommend.

Very easy check in process. Room to dock a boat and you can fish right from the house.

Perfect

This was our second stay at Sunset Retreat . We brought our kayaks and were able to drop them in the water directly behind the house . The house has plenty of room, great amenities and peaceful location . Well equip kitchen and love the upgrades since last visit . So glad to see this beautiful little town recovering. Owners very responsive.

Christmas Holiday in Matlacha

This home was great! Everything is new and well appointed. The location and views are outstanding. The sunsets over open water behind the house. Walking distance to Blue Dog and quirky shops. Highly recommend this property!

Great place

Very nice place to stay on the island! Owners were amazing and very helpful with all our needs. Very clean house, amazing views of the water! Walkable to all businesses on the island. Will definately be staying there again!

Great Christmas stay

We had an unexpected illness hit the family we had planned to stay with so we had to book last minute and Mike was amazing with communication from the get go. He also set out some holiday decor and treats for us. The mini tree was perfect for us to set up our gifts underneath for the kids. The house is so nice with an open layout, plenty of space and amazing view. We loved walking to the nearby shops and restaurant as well as through the neighborhood to check out the Christmas lights. All the neighbors were so friendly. We ended up having my dad over for christmas eve dinner and the kitchen space was large enough and stocked with all we needed for cooking/serving. Would highly recommend this rental and would book it again!

Matlacha fishing

It was nice. Owner did a nice job with their home understanding the major Hurricane that went through this little village one year ago. The devastation in and around the community was very apparent. We have been visiting this are for 40+ years so it was a nice return.

Quick getaway at a great location

We wanted to visit with some friends on Pine Island in FL. The first location that came back was this property in Matlacha and I went no further. Beautiful water views and a modern looking interior. The modern interior was, I am sure, compliments of hurricane Ian in 2022. The pictures sold us on the place and when we walked in it felt like we had already been there. The VRBO listing is accurate, and the pictures tell the whole story. Great owner, great location, great views, great internet, great TVs and it all turned out to be a great stay. Bring your own boat and it would be even better.

Summer vacation with grandkids

The place was in great condition considering they had experienced a cat 5 hurricane last fall. Owner is on top of needed repairs, and the place is very functional. The area will be in recovery for quite awhile but people are “survivors” here and grateful to see visitors. All new interior & furnishings. Mike(owner) is great and will make your stay enjoyable

Clean space and fairly roomy

Spent just a couple nights. My son joined one night. Beds comfy. Easy ample parking. Kitchen seemed to have all the items normally needed, although I did not cook anything. I'm sure it's temporary, but both mornings at 6 am the sprinklers came on and hit both bedroom windows. Very loud and annoying.

Newly Updated, Right on the Water

This was a great little house. The island still has a lot of damage from Hurricane Ian, but this house has been completely redone on the inside. Everything was brand new and clean. The house was right on the water with a dock, which would be great if you were bringing a boat with you. (I'm sure there's a boat launch nearby). The owners were very accommodating and quick ty respond to any questions I had. Would definitely stay again.
