The Barn Studio designed by owner/builder in 2020 is located adjacent to the owner's residence in town Southwest Harbor. This property is off the street and surrounded by 5 acres of fields, trees, and views of Acadia's western mountains providing the perfect country escape feeling.
Completely furnished open concept living area (with full size sleep-sofa for maximum occupancy for 4) with full kitchen, 1-bedroom with queen bed with new foam mattress topper, 1-bath, cable and WIFI, heat pump, private outside area with seating for 4, barbeque grill, fire pit, and lobster cooker.
Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, marina, bus route, and minutes away from Acadia National Park, biking, hiking, swimming, fishing and boating.
This property truly is the perfect escape.
Pet friendly. 3 night minimum stay. No smoking.
Owner on site.

Top notch place to stay with well-designed finishes. The surrounding property was an amazing place to start each day as we walked our dogs and felt surrounded by nature on the extensive property in a neighborhood setting. Close enough to walk to town, with great shops & places to eat. Our host, Dawn, was very responsive to all of our inquiries, and was super friendly & welcoming when we met. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Wonderful quaint, roomy, country setting barn studio. Very clean, had all amenities needed. Owners very quick in responses. Greeted by several deer all times of the day. Truly enjoyed our time here very much and would definitely come back!

Nice location that is near all major attrations but far enough away to not feel touristy. Close to shopping center of Southwest Harbor and the notebook with things to do, places to go and eat was very useful.

Acadia National Park Visit

We loved our stay here. The location is great - a brief walk from restaurants in Southwest Harbor, and a short drive from everything in and around Acadia - and the studio itself was cozy and comfortable, with an especially good welcome book with recommendations around town. Highly recommended!

Lovely little spot

This rental had everything we needed for a relaxing stay in SW Harbor. Our dog loved the open areas to roam and we enjoyed watching the wildlife in the morning as we drank our coffee.

A respite on the Quiet Side

If you enjoy Acadia but not all of the bustle, this is the perfect spot. It is ideally suited, being walking distance to the town of Southwest Harbor, and Island Explorer bus stop, and is a short drive to some of the best trailheads. The house is on a quiet side street, is super clean, and has a lovely yard. Great for birdwatching too!

Great location

The Barn Studio was very neat and clean, and just the right size for the 2 of us. The location was quiet, and it was just a short walk to the downtown area with restaurants and shops. We had a great time on Mt. Desert Island and highly recommend Dawn's place.

Cozy and Pet-Friendly Getaway in Southwest Harbor

Our stay at The Barn Studio was exactly as described—clean, well-maintained, and easy to check into. It’s a great option if you're looking for a quieter alternative to Bar Harbor. The space is very dog-friendly, and there was plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors after a day exploring Acadia National Park. We highly recommend dining at Harbor Table—the food was delicious and atmosphere was excellent!

Beautiful, private, dog-friendly space!

If you’re looking for a pet-friendly stay near Acadia National Park, look no further! We enjoyed being away from the bustle of Bar Harbor with room for our fur baby to be outside while relaxing after sunset. We found the adorably decorated apartment clean and comfortable. Laundromat, restaurants, and grocery stores all nearby. Wonderful!

Just do it

We loved staying here and will definitely do so again the next time we are on MDI. The studio apartment was bright, cheery, and very clean. The queen bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, and the shower was great. For those with dogs, this is the place to stay. Just open the door and let your dog out for walks the lengthy mowed paths. Just do it.

The space was clean, efficient and we enjoyed our stay. A 2nd mirror would be helpful for doing hair/makeup while the bathroom is in use.

Loved out stay!

Perfect little retreat when exploring Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. Spent most of our time in Bar Harbor which was a 20-25 min drive depending on where we were going for the day. The studio was located on the first floor of the barn, and it was absolutely adorable. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our family. For anyone that has a larger family, this would be a great option (along with the other section of the barn) if some family members needed their own space. My only comment, which is completely a personal preference, is that the bed was very soft. We personally like a firmer mattress, but this would not stop us from renting again.

Amazing property!!

We loved this property so much! The inside was perfect for the two of us and our dog. It was very comfortable and spacious with a full kitchen. The yard was amazing to walk the dog and just so peaceful to sit out and look at. The location was very convenient to walk 5 minutes on sidewalks to Main Street with delicious coffee and breakfast and dinner spots. It was also only 10-20 minutes to Acadia hiking trails and Bar Harbor. The host was very friendly! We would highly recommend this rental and would love to come back and stay again!

Wes is a 6th generation Southwest Harbor native whose passion is spending time outside. He and his wife Dawn decided to start their dream project, so, they began building the barn in 2020. They are very excited to offer the “Barn Studio” and sister property the “Barn Loft” (upstairs) #3585362. The Barn Loft is perfect for those traveling with larger families needing more space, check out the listing for more details (sorry no pets allowed in the barn loft). The couples love of the outdoors is the inspiration of their project. They want to provide a relaxing place for vacationers to escape and enjoy the beauty of the quiet side of Mount Desert Island and all that Acadia National Park has to offer.
