The hidden nest

Our bright and cozy cottage is on a quiet spot nestled among tall trees and not visible from the road. You can experience the forest with the convenience of being only 5 minutes away from the town of Marmora & Lake. It's the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature and make memories. Sip your favourite drink on the deck overlooking the forest, relax on the hammock enjoy stories around a bonfire while you hear the lovely sounds of nature. We'll lend you a kayak/paddle board to enjoy during your stay.

The cottage is 5 minutes off highway 7 in Marmora and Lake. It is located on a quiet street that hosts many cottages between Crowe lake and Crowe river. The house is not visible from the road and you need to walk downhill to get to the house. Not ideal for people who can't walk up or downhill.

There is private parking on the property. You'll need to drive 5 minutes to the town of Marmora and Lake to get to the shops, supermarket, pharmacy, LCBO, splash pad, playground, public river access, etc. You can access the lake from Booster Park and the river from Legion Park, less than 10 minutes away. We'll lend you an inflatable kayak or paddle board to enjoy during your stay.

Our favourite activities around the cottage are:
-Go for a walk on the trails at Callaghan Rapids
-Take a dip at Cordova Falls
-Horseback riding at Horsing Around
-Visit the Saturday Market at Legion Park
-Go for ice cream at Hometown Cones
-Have a picnic at Memorial Park.
-Get cheese and visit the buffalo's at the Water Buffalo Farm
-Have a craft beer at 7/62 in Madoc
-Get yummy croissants, bread and sandwiches from Wildflower Bakery in Havelock

Enjoyable and peaceful. Nice outdoor set up of fire pit, chairs, hammock. Plus a back deck and lounging area. Even with neighbors you feel secluded with the surrounding trees. The size and set up was very fitting for a solo trip of peace and solitude.

Incredibly relaxing weekend

My girlfriend and I stayed at the hidden nest for 5 days and had an exceptional time! The pictures don't really do it justice, the property is beautiful and so quaint. Maria was super responsive whenever we reached out to her and very accommodating. Cute little neighbourhood as well, neighbours were very friendly. Check-in/check-out instructions were very clear. In addition to the cottage itself, there was much to do by way of activities in the area (hiking, car shows, art galleries, etc.) but nothing was quite as relaxing as sitting on the two lounging chairs in the morning and enjoying the fresh air, sun, and sounds of nature.

Quiet and Cozy

Hidden Nest is a nice cozy cottage nestled back in a quiet neighborhood. Unfortunately, the weather was quite hot during our stay, so we didn't get to enjoy its nice outside areas. Very happy with the performance of the AC unit! We enjoyed sightseeing and restaurants in the area.

Marmora is beautiful

Stayed here with my partner and our dog over Labour Day weekend! From prior to checking in Maria was awesome with accommodating our date changes and communicating information about the property and surrounding area. My partner and I had a magical few days enjoying the privacy of the cottage and going on adventures with the numerous attractions around. We would absolutely come back!

Cabin in the Kawarthas

My wife and I stayed at this cabin mid August 2023. Looking for a small quiet cabin to relax for a few days. Once I decided this was the place my experience from booking online to communicating with the Host to check-in to the stay and checking out was perfect. The online post description/pics provided everything and was accurate upon check-in. The Host answered all my questions quickly and professionally and gave me tips on local hiking & water activities. I was impressed with the little amenities that you would not expect like needing a pair of scissors, a roasting stick or shampoo needed unexpectedly. Everything was as advertised. The cabin was comfortable and clean. Everything was in proper working condition from the Sat TV, AC to the appliances. A most enjoyable comfortable stay. If you're looking for a small cabin in a very quiet area with lots of trees, this is a great place to stay. Thanks to the Host, she was very friendly.

Nice Vacation Spot

The property is nestled a short distance away from a nice stretch of lake. Locals are friendly and unobtrusive, and the nearby town of Marmora is quaint and inviting. The cottage itself was equipped with all the necessary amenities and touches that make it feel like a home away from home. We’d return again and loved it.

Marmora cabin

My boyfriend and I stayed for a week at Maria’s property. It was just what we needed. The cabin was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our time there !

Third Visit.

This was our third visit at this property and we still love it. This was our first visit outside of summer. The cottage’s heating system is very quick to heat up the cottage and a baseboard heater in the bedroom keeps the room quite warm too. Property is very clean and everything is in very good working order. Maria is a pleasure to deal with and very responsive.

Very cute cabin, a nice way to get away from the busy city live style. Maria was a delight!

Overall we enjoyed our stay and location to small towns and hiking trails all within a 20 minute drive or so. Everything was clean and easy to use. Maria was great with her description of the property and how to access everything. The only downside was the bed, it was not the best. Forced my partner and I to try the futon for the second night which was better but it’s still a futon. Everything else was fantastic and this place just needs a new mattress to be a perfect lovers getaway.

Second Time Just As Good!

This was our second stay at this property and we loved it just as much the second time. Maria is a great host , easy to reach and quick to respond. Cottage is small, open concept with one bedroom and a nice outside sitting area. Very close to grocery store, gas, ice cream, pizza. Two bakeries working 30 minute drive. Will definitely go back again.

Quiet spot for reconnecting

Lovely, clean updated cottage. Not right on the water but we already knew that and it wasn’t what we were looking for. We wanted a cozy stress free getaway and that’s exactly what we got! Very much enjoyed our stay and Maria is friendly and helpful.

Little slice of heaven

Very relaxing and private little cottage for two. Very bright, clean and modern. Everything you need at your fingertips. Nice cool air in the cottage when needed, wifi for movies on rainy days and relaxing fire and deck to lay out in the sun.

Clean Cozy Cabin

This is the perfect summer retreat for a couple or a single person. Very clean, bright, beautifully furnished in a Scandinavian style. Air conditioning cools the place very quickly. Stunning shower., well-equipped kitchen. Gorgeous fire pit and sitting area. Short drive to the town centre, quiet neighbourhood. We were there over the Canada Day long weekend and found it was very quiet and rarely saw the neighbours. Even on hot days the cabin cools off at night. Maria is very available and quick to respond to messages. Local grocery store is a good size with a deli counter. Two very good take out pizza places and a great take out ice cream place on Forsyth Street in Marmora. Nice fair trade bakery 20 minutes away in Haverlock - go early in the day as they sell out of most stuff by lunchtime. We’ll definitely come back again.
