Quiet Sports Oasis-Wooded & Private

Once you turn onto our private road, you will become immersed in a beautiful natural setting with no neighbors in sight. We are located close enough to all of the conveniences of town, but far enough away to truly unwind and relax.

The beauty of the area is that it offers something for everyone. With the Birkebeiner Trail right outside your back door, you can ski from the comfort of the cabin right to the trail in the winter, or go for hike in the woods in the summer. The cabin is well equipped for the cross country ski enthusiasts, including a waxing table and boot dryers. If biking is your sport, we are within10 minutes of both the Mosquito Brook Trailhead and the 'OO' Trailhead.

If motor sports are more your speed, we are in close proximity of those trails as well, no need to drive to a trailhead, ATVs are allowed on the roads in our Township

We also offer two kayaks and 3 pair of snowshoes for guests to use at no charge.

Just want to relax? Imagine yourself sitting in the amazing screened porch enjoying your morning coffee, listening to the birds. Quiet evenings can be spent curled up next to the fire enjoying a good book. The floor plan offers enough space to hang around in the kitchen or sneak downstairs to enjoy your favorite TV show. .

*For guest's security, there is a video only security camera covering the parking area of the cabin, it is not monitored regularly, unless an issue arises and we need to go back and review footage, which we have never had to do! This is the only camera on the property and it is completely visible on the porch.

This was the perfect spot for our weekend family getaway --My parents, husband and I had been visiting family in the area and were thrilled to find this great looking cabin not far from Hayward. This place was so easy to find. We really appreciated how well-lit the house and property were, since we arrived after dark. The whole cabin is welcoming and cozy. My parents slept in the upstairs bedroom and said they loved feeling like they were in the trees :) My mom and I are coffee enthusiasts and were so excited by all the nice equipment the place has to offer. The kitchen is well provisioned, and we were able to find everything we needed.We all adored the porch!! What a lovely place to enjoy morning coffee, visit, and enjoy nature.My husband and I are hoping to come back in the winter to experience a cross-country skiing getaway.

Perfect spot in the north woods

We had the coziest weekend here! The cabin was warm, just the right size, and very well stocked. We appreciated the easy access to ski trails and the simple check in/check out process. I’d love to stay here again!

Cozy cabin in the Northwoods

We loved staying at this cabin! We were a short drive away from attractions/restaurants but felt very tucked away in the Northwoods - exactly what we were looking for! Angie was very responsive to any questions we had and the cabin was very clean, everything was well stocked and the decor was adorable. We will definitely be recommending this place to family and friends!

Great Cabin!

The cabin is great, very clean and plenty of space for our family of 5. Close to downtown Hayward. The host was very responsive and answered any questions we had very quickly.

Perfect Family Getaway

We enjoyed our time at Luna's Retreat from the moment we arrived at this cozy oasis nestled in the woods. Angie was a phenomenal host, with timely and proactive communication leading up to our stay, and personal touches that made us feel at home as soon as we stepped inside. From a welcome sign with our name on it hanging on the front door to farm fresh eggs in the fridge and chocolates on our towels, she thought of everything to make our stay memorable and comfortable. The property was perfect for our group, we especially loved the screened in porch. Everything was well maintained and extremely clean. The location was also great - completely secluded but with easy access to many lakes and downtown Hayward. If our travels take us to the area again, we will most definitely book another stay here. Highly recommend!!

Summer Family Trip

Angie is a great host!! Lunas retreat is an amazing cabin, it was very clean and cozy!! The screened in porch is as great as it looks in the pictures, we spent our mornings and evenings out there! We will definitely be back to enjoy this beautiful property!

Clean comfortable cottage

Stayed here a few days in July with small dogs and kid. Was very clean and comfortable with cottage charm about 15 minutes from grocery stores, etc.

Great base for winter up north

A true home away from home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Luna’s Retreat! It was exactly as described - super clean - homey - awesome screened in porch - easy access to trails - tons of room and close to activities. The owners have thought of everything with this rental - comfy porch furniture that we enjoyed a glass of wine as well as coffee in, comfortable beds, quality linens, quality furnishings and appliances, they even go so far as to provide qtips in the bathroom! We were looking for quiet relaxation and definitely got it here. Highly recommend staying here if you get the chance!!!

Woodsy Retreat

I had a restful one week break from the hot summer in the city. The area offers lakes, rivers, hiking, biking, and beautiful scenery, but the biggest draw is this cedar-sided gem of a house! It is immaculately kept, secluded, yet easy to access, and near shopping, bars and restaurants in Hayward, Seeley, and Cable. Lake Superior is less than an hour away, and the city of Ashland has a large public beach for access. I will definitely consider visiting in the fall and winter too!

Best stay ever.

This property was stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. A great deal of thought has been put into this VRBO by the host Angie. This VRBO exceeded my expectations. This property is top notch in all areas, it was super clean. We have stayed in many vacation rentals in this area and none come close to this one. We would return again without hesitation. Thank you for allowing us to bring our furry kid with us!

We visited the Hayward area to ride ATVs. This location was amazing for trail riding! The cabin was very clean and modern! Everything went extremely smooth as far as check-in. Angela was very responsive and helpful on any questions I had prior to arrival. We were all extremely pleased with our stay! Highly recommend!!

Nice open cabin, ski-out your door

This cabin has a nice open floor plan, good for family or couples. It's situated in the woods -- far enough so it's isolated from road noise but not too far so you have to worry too much about getting stuck in the snow if it's snowy. The birkie ridge ski trails are right out your door so you don't have to drive if you don't want; if you do all the trailheads are nearby. Angie was responsive and accommodating, helpfully making sure we knew about all the amenities and options.
