Breathtaking views, huge house, lots to do, live in housekeeper!!!
Alain’s house is huge, is beautifully decorated, has spectacular views of the canyon, has a ton of stuff to entertain the family, and has a live in housekeeper!
The house looks exactly as it does in the pictures, with a modern and whimsical decor. There are 2 living rooms downstairs and one upstairs. The primary suite is enormous and well appointed. You get your daily steps in running to the bathroom at night. Every bedroom has a bathroom adjoining it, and the casita has a comfortable pull out couch (my dad has a bad back and said it was very comfortable). In fact, if you have folks that aren’t good with stairs, there are 2 bedrooms at ground level - one in the main house and the pull out in the casita. This arrangement worked great for our family.
There is a ton to do here, from the pool & spa to ping pong, to the trampoline and playground, the kids won’t be bored. There are also a few huge TVs in case the mood strikes.
Mary the housekeeper takes care of the house, makes your bed, cleans your dishes, is happy to do your laundry at your request, and is generally helpful and lovely. She has her own space in the house with a separate entrance. She inhabits the laundry room and converted garage apartment. She enters the house frequently to do all of the things I just mentioned but is very smooth at taking care of things without interrupting your family time. I was a bit apprehensive about this at first, especially during COVID, but she is vaccinated and once we got used to her being around, it was really very nice to not have to do our own dishes (especially at Thanksgiving!). NOTE: Mary does not speak English. We knew a little Spanish and were able to get by, but if you need help translating Alain is happy to translate remotely for you.
A dog usually lives in the house. If you have allergies, be aware. Alain mentioned that we could keep the dog around for the kids to play with because it is very well trained and (I assume) Mary takes care of it. We decided not to do this but it sounds like an option.
There are a few things that I mentioned to Alain that would be nice for future guests. A few small kitchen items, a guest binder, and ability to control the spa with a remote would be great (right now he controls it with his phone and you have to text him).
This house is amazing, Alain and Mary are wonderfully nice people, and you should feel completely confident booking this house. You will have an amazing time!
