Come relax at The Sand Dollar House!

Located across from Seabluff Beach, our four bedroom, three bath house has unobstructed views of the beautiful Long Island Sound! West Haven is one of Connecticut’s Best Kept Secrets (Shhhhh…don’t tell anyone!). Seabluff Beach has much softer sand, and space to spread out, than other beaches in Connecticut.

The house is in walking distance to three children’s parks, Prospect Beach House Deli, Tom & Pat’s Pizza, Jimmies Restaurant, and Turks Seafood. Bradley Point is also in walking distance, perfect for a summer stroll on the boardwalk!

We offer a comfortable open-concept living area, complete with full kitchen, 10 person table, and a living room with pull-out-sofa.

Two bedrooms have direct waterfront views, and two have partial water views.

The West Haven Train Station is 2 miles away, providing easy access on the Metro North to NYC. If you are looking for local nightlife, New Haven is 8 miles from the house.

Other things to know:

The house is located on Ocean Ave., which is a main road. It can become busy, especially during summer months. We do not have a front or backyard. The main outdoor area is the beach! While we do accept dogs, they are not allowed on the beach. Your four-legged-friend should be comfortable 1.) being in a house while you are at the beach and 2.) walking on a leash in the neighborhood to do his/her business.

Noise levels: Our neighbors are cool, but please be respectful. The West Haven noise ordinance begins at 10:00 pm and is strictly enforced.

Smoking: This is a 100% non-smoking property. Evidence of smoking will result in forfeiture of deposit.

Parking: There is ample parking! Please park either directly behind the house, or in the four designated spots across from the house. Street parking is only available to town residents.

This house was perfect for my family vacation. Comfortable and large enough for my whole family. It was a great location and super convenient. Meridith and Ryan had everything we needed and were incredibly helpful before, during, and after. Honestly the best hosts I've dealt with. We would definitely stay there again.

Family celebration

Nice setup for a family get together over a long weekend. Beautiful ocean view and nice beach across the street. Need to keep windows closed at night due to traffic noise.

Family Vacation

The house was perfectly clean with excellent access to the beach. Beach was very quiet and secluded with not many people on it, which was very nice! Road was busy but we felt better with the gate on the deck to keep our kids contained. House was set up wonderfully with a very open and spacious living area. 12 people did not feel cramped at all, even with 4 kids in the mix!

Perfect family vacation.

We were seven adults and a toddler. The house was clean, comfortable, spacious, well equipped kitchen, and the view was amazing. Having family dinners at that dining room table was everything. We didn't want to go out to eat because our view was better, which saved money. My sister and nephew thought that they'd have to share a bed but the office had enough room for an air mattress. This made my sister jump for joy. Also, the bedrooms are bigger than they look in the pictures. I will admit, when I first arrived, I thought the busy street was going to be an issue. However, the gate was secure for my grandson and it wasn't really that busy during the week. In the end, it didn't bother me at all. (I'm super picky, FYI.) The beach was amazing. For anyone with little ones, it's perfect. It's not crowded at all, even on the weekends. The water is shallow quite a ways out. My grandson was free to run around and jump in the water without us worrying. The West Walk is an added bonus. It's a great walk along the sound to get exercise, clear your head or walk off a heavy meal. I would not hesitate to rent this house again.

Family getaway

We enjoyed our stay at Sand dollar. The beach was just across the street, making it an easy walk. The ‘boardwalk’ was a nice place to walk but not the kind we were expecting. We had hoped for more places within walking distance (shops, restaurants). The home was large enough for 7 adults, a toddler and an infant to spread out. The kitchen had ample space for cooking meals. The enclosed porch was an added bonus, unfortunately it was noisy at time with motorcycles and vehicles on the street in front. Would consider revisiting in the future.

Relaxing Vacation

The views of the ocean are even better in person. Saw beautiful colors during sunset. The close proximity to the beach is great. Mostly calm and shallow water. The house was very comfortable and communication with Meridith was great. We really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful home and Perfect location

This home offers the best view. The house is stocked with everything a family could need from all the beach necessities, foosball, kitchen utensils, bedrooms, fireplace, giant kitchen table and more. My 2 kids had a blast with all the games. The porch is perfect to relax and double balcony offers plenty of space. We love this home and hope to be back.

Best week ever!

The sand dollar house was a perfect choice for my family. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want and we enjoyed the coffee station. Having a table big enough for 9 (and an infant) is important to me so we can eat dinner together. The beds were all so comfortable and the house was so clean. I truly loved how it was decorated. Location, location, location!!! The best part of all was when my 8 year old grandson said “ This was the best week ever “. Having quality time with your family is priceless. Thanks Meridith !

Great location with a large beach

The house is great and the host does many nice things that make the stay special and easy. The house has anything you'll need beach chairs, umbrella even sand toys. The house is right across the street from the beach and our little ones wouldn't go on their own so the street didn't matter to our family. The playground on the beach made for a nice after dinner place to go. The front porch was gated which made it safer for the kids. She even had dishes for the kids. The only thing we actually needed was a kids stool so they could all reach to wash their hands. We picked one up and left it under the bathroom sink for future other kids. I would highly recommend this home!

Great hosts, nice house, just a bit street noisy

The house was perfect for us and the space we needed. Toilet broke right when we arrived and the host was great about repairing it right away. There is plenty of kitchen supplies to do light cooking, and things to take to the beach. The rooms were comfortable for our 5 day stay. Wifi was great. We had no trouble connecting with several computers and streaming videos. It was nice to have a fireplace. Beach is really close: just across the street so that was great and host provided plenty of chairs, towels, beach stuff. Now the things that could be better: blackout curtains in the upstairs bedroom, one facing the street and beach. It's way too bright to be able to sleep in while on vacation. The dining area on the other hand, needs more light. It is ok with added candles for dinner when sun is down but not enough for any games that require reading. Things we didn't like that are not in the control of the hosts but did make our stay less pleasant was the noise coming from the street since it's so close. Be prepared for loud motocycles and lots of traffic make the best bedroom quite noisy (the one that is the best: facing the beach). I didn't expect this amount of traffic. If you are sensitive to really close traffic noise and can't sleep with it (like me) bring ear plugs with you. A lot of cars go faster than speed limit so one must be really careful when crossing it to go to the beach. Not for young kids crossing on their own.

Fantastic beach front home

Meridith is a marvelous, communicative hostess for her well appointed Vrbo rental. Every amenity was provided and our stay was enjoyable and effortless. I would definitely recommend a stay at The Sand Dollar!

EXCELLENT STAY CLOSE TO EVERYTHING!!

What an amazing time we had staying at this property. Our welcome note and bottle of wine was beyond our expectations! Everything that was detailed in the description was just as! We felt at home the minute we walked in the door. Fresh towels, clean linens and everything in between. We will definitely be back again.
