Relaxing

We had a wonderful stay. The location is amazing and peaceful. The accommodations, although not luxurious, were cozy and comfortable. It was just what we were looking for, a great get-away.

Paradise

This is our 4th time staying at Makena Cottage, so it’s long been a preferred destination. We loved it before, and the recent updates have upped the wow factor. The house is fully equipped and beautifully decorated. The lanai is our usual hangout spot to watch turtles, sunsets, waves, and whales.

Beautiful water-front property

A very peaceful and tranquil cottage on the waterfront in Makena. Spend your evenings relaxing on the lanai watching the sun go down. In the morning you can watch the turtles playing in the surf. The proprty is clean and well equipped. The owners are very helpful and responsive to questions.

An Oceanside Gem

Usually to rent a great oceanside property you have to go four or five bedrooms and up, or settle in a condo. This is a beautiful, comfortable and very well-appointed 2-bedroom cottage directly on Makena Bay, very convenient to shopping, dining and all activities Maui but private and ultra-quiet at night. The views are obviously spectacular, and green sea turtles abounded in the water directly off the deck. Eric and Camille are skilled and respectful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Makena Cottage and would go back in an instant.

Cottage Getaway

This home is a wonderful retreat from every day hustle and bustle. It is perfectly located so close to activities, etc. yet secluded from the resort crowds. The sunsets and stargazing cannot be beat, either!

One of our favorite stays of all time!

First of all the location could not have been better, with turtles literally grazing in the rocky cove a few feet from the deck. A short 2 minute walk and you have access to one of the nicest snorkeling and kayaking bays in Maui, and just a few minutes in the other direction a great swimming beach. House was well equipped and comfortable. Bedrooms were small and not much sound-proofing between them but since there were only two of us it didn’t matter. Hot tub on the deck was an added bonus. There was some construction noise during the day but wasnt intolerable. New home behind may eventually impact the privacy of the hot tub but I’m sure owners will figure out how to restore privacy.

The cottage is everything one would expect and more. It was a totally wonderful experience, a little piece of paradise. A terrific place to just sit back and relax and enjoy Makena.

Simply Amazing Location

My wife and I stayed at the Makena Ocean Cottage in early March and had a fabulous time. The MOC is tucked in a cove that overlooks Turtle Town and the view from the lanai is second to none for stunning sunsets. The MOC is well appointed with everything you would need for preparing meals and the refrigerator is large with an ice-maker. The location is a 5 minute walk to Maluaka Beach which was our favorite spot to soak up the sun and swim and snorkel. MOC has four beach chairs and 2 umbrellas available for guests. Eric and Camille are a pleasure to do business with! Highly recommend the MOC!

All the stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

We are a Canadian couple who brought our baby and parents out to Hawaii for a little sun and surf. Given the baby we knew we’d be a little less mobile and wanted to maximize ocean time /beach access. We were overwhelmed by the plethora of condo options in Kaanapali and Kihei but nothing seemed to truly get us close to the water or provide any actual space or privacy! THEN we found this beautiful house! It was ...just amazing. Right on the ocean, you fall asleep and awake to the sound of crashing waves and bird song. There are turtles frolicking in the waves in front of the cottage and coconut trees swaying, and show-stopping pink sunsets every evening... it’s truly a Hawaiian paradise. And now the facts. There is a huge well-stocked kitchen (think blender, rice cooker, ice-machine on the fridge, dishwasher etc) - this place has more appliances and cookware than I have at home!! As well as an awesome Weber BBQ outside. We made some awesome meals. Rarely found on Maui, this place has a full washer AND dryer!! And they even provide detergent and dryer sheets! I’m telling you, they’ve thought of everything. Beds are super comfy and everything was spotless. Location is fabulous. You’re 18 min drive to Kihei Safeway and 25 to airport. Big beach is a 10 min drive south, but honestly, you could hang out at the beaches at Makena Landing (like we did) and be more than satisfied. The bathroom and shower are a little dated but seriously...who cares. The water is hot and the pressure is awesome and there are even two hot outdoor showers! The whole vibe of the cottage is old school Hawaii and we wouldn’t change any of it. The lanai is HUGE and wraps around the house and there is lots of seating to enjoy the outdoors. We had issues with the TV on the 3rd evening of the trip, and we let Eric know...he organized for a new TV to be delivered the following day!! Awesome! Any other requests we had were addressed promptly and Eric went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. Issues inevitably do arise when you’re on a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and it was good to know he was on top of it. He actually texted the day we arrived to make sure we made it in ok, and he happened to be in town on the last day of our trip and came out to say hello! Highly, highly, highly recommend. We would definitely return again! All the stars!!

Perfect Maui Beach Cottage

If you want waves breaking right off your porch- this is the perfect place. Owners are super helpful, and location is only minutes to all of the Makena Resorts and Golf Courses.

Makena Oceanfront Cottage was absolutely wonderful!!!

Our hosts were wonderful in welcoming communication and response.. This sweet, clean and charming cottage was located in an awesome ocean-front setting with all the amenities for fun and relaxation. The kitchen and bathroom were well equipped and the bedrooms were nice and very comfortable. We spent much of our time here immensely enjoying the ocean-side deck with hot tub and relaxing sound of the waves. This home is located in an excellent area for snorkeling and other ocean activities at Makena Bay Landing. The beautiful sunsets here were spectacular!!! Mahalo again for the excellent stay and gentle spirit of sweet Hawaiian Aloha! We plan to return here again upon our next stay on Maui! 🌴🌺

Beautiful in every way!

Morning coffee on the oceanfront lanai, watching turtles play in the surf, a 6 minute walk from turtles basking in the sand, quiet at night, stunning sunsets, and had everything we needed! We had a magical week at this beautiful cottage. Our only wish is that we could stay longer.

Amazing! We will be back - again!

This was my family's second time renting this beautiful home and it will not be the last! Best view and private getaway on Maui!

Best vacation we’ve had in years! Just a “few” MaiTai’s while watching the turtles morning and night from the lanai. BBQs, snorkeling, church down the street, Kai Kanani sail to Molokini, fishing in the morning (and fish tacos from our catch in the evening), scooter rental in Kihei....we will be back!!

This cottage is perfect for the type of vacation we need when coming to Maui. Location suits us perfectly. The size of the cottage works well for us. The house is equipped with all we need to cook, relax, read, hot tub, beach, and sleep on a muggy night. Favorite part ...... the Lani to watch turtles play in the waves in the afternoon. Wonderful!

We’ve just returned home after another great stay at Makena Oceanfront Cottage. A big thanks to Eric and Camille for providing such idyllic accommodations. The first thing we do before planning a trip to Maui is checking the availability calendar of this awesome house. If we can’t stay here, then it’s a no go. The lanai is unbeatable. We spend so much time there listening to the waves, watching the whales, spying on the turtles swimming right in front of us, and taking photos of the incredible sunsets!

Mesmerizing Location

It’s all about the lanai at the Petersons’ lovely cottage in Makena. So close to the reef with panoramic ocean views (Molokini, Kaho’olawe, Lanai, West Maui mountains) framed by lava rocks and coconut palms. We spent idyllic early mornings turtle-spotting from this tranquil perch, fueled by coffee and banana bread, before a three-minute stroll to the cove for awesome snorkeling. By the time the tourist boats arrived at the reef around 9am, we’d rinsed off under the outdoor shower and were busy relaxing in the hot tub. Late afternoon found us back on the lanai, cocktails in hand, watching the turtles feed below as the sun sank gloriously into the horizon. We’ve visited Maui many times but now there’s no place on the island we’d rather stay. Mahalo, Kate + Scott + Andrew

Such a unique spot. Beaches and snorkeling a short walk away. Kaleidoscopic views. turtles right below you. We had a couple of minor issues this time (my second visit) but they were resolved by contacting the owner.

Vacation Brain happens here

You know that moment when you go someplace special and your brain starts to turn off, relax, and nothing is that important anymore, except perhaps dinner reservations? That is Vacation Brain and that happen here for us. Went to celebrate our 40th Anniversary and spend some short time with our son. This cottage was exactly the kind of place we all were seeking. We all totally melted during our stay. Helps with ocean waves, ocean views and being so close to our favorite beach/snorkeling areas. Great morning entertainment as we sipped our coffee watching snorkeling and kayaking groups. Afternoons were watching more waves and turtles feeding off the rocks from the lanai. Quiet areas for great walking for when we didn't want to explore the island or hang on the beach. Cottage had everything we needed for stay. Eric was great to work with. Thinking of another week there the next time we come back!

Wonderful vacation getaway, truly to get away.

We keep coming regularly to the same cottage, perfect place for non quite assuming couple of adults or small family. Perfect location, reasonable price, small footage (it is quite a benefit) and distance to the ocean with the gentle surf and visiting turtles makes it special.

Old Authentic Hawaii at it's Best! The house sits 10 feet from the high water mark! Nothing is more peaceful than sitting on the lanai and watching the surf and sunsets each day. Most travelers pay considerable amounts to take boat rides and snorkel in front of the property. You will have it all immediately in front of the house!

The house has one indoor shower and two outdoor showers tied into the hot water heater. One connected to an overhead pull chain and one handheld shower to wash off the sand after a day at the beach before entering the house. Absolutely amazing views!!
