Welcome to Sea Ranch Abalone Bay, our 3-bedroom, 2-bath oceanfront home, where you'll experience at your doorstep amazing views of nature and the ocean beyond. Abalone Bay provides you and up to 5 guests a front-row seat to orange sherbet sunsets and star-filled, inky skies! As you gaze from windows that frame deer in the foreground, whales on the horizon, you're sure to rekindle your relationship with nature and loved ones in this uniquely remodeled home by famed architect Obie Bowman, FAIA.

Curated amenities make oceanfront Sea Ranch Abalone Bay a perfect romantic getaway, girls' weekend, gentleman's holiday, or relaxing retreat for the family. Ample workspace, Pre-planning support, and concierge service assure you have the experience of a lifetime. Guests are required to sign the rental agreement within 24 hours and provide a security credit hold. Up to 2 dogs are welcome. The host welcomes all and does not discriminate against anyone.

Ample workspace and strong WiFi make our home a great remote work location as well. Anglers and divers are also welcome!

As your direct concierge and host, we provide you personalized, detailed attention and assistance to assure you and your guests have the experience of a lifetime. Our digital guidebook, free and readily available for download on all your electronic devices, informs you and guests about the house, and its amenities. Potential for Noise:
We are also thrilled to be part of a growing community! There's a new home blossoming next door, with construction underway. The contractor anticipates work will be done by late December 2025. We've taken measures to ensure your peaceful stay, yet there might be some daytime activity. Construction crew may arrive as early as 7:30 AM with work beginning at 8 AM and quit at 4:00 PM. If you plan on adventuring during the day this won't be a big deal. There's definitely plenty to explore locally. Your understanding and excitement for the local development are much appreciated!

No Air Conditioning
There is no central air conditioning. Ventilation fans provide added circulation for Mother Nature's sea breezes that blow through screened windows.

Sea Ranch Abalone Bay is surrounded by meadows and woods. As such, guests may encounter various insects and wildlife traditionally found in a natural environment. As heat and drought increase, you may find ants and/or Jerusalem cricket (potato bug) seeking shelter in the house. We employ year-round monthly pest control services and provide insecticide for your use. Guests are advised to keep the home clear of crumbs and food.
Guests are also advised to feed dogs inside and keep doors closed to avoid raccoons from entering.

LEGAL RENTAL AGREEMENT: Worry-free cancellation: Get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of booking up to 72 hours. Exceptions apply to last-minute bookings. Guests are charged the full amount at booking. A copy of Guest's Legal Photo ID (Driver's License or Passport) collected upon submission of our booking contract is required to verify your identity for safety, security reasons, and assure you meet Sonoma County regulations of age and authenticity of your being the responsible agent booking our home. Guests are required to sign a legal rental agreement within 3 days of booking. Failing that, we reserve the right to cancel the booking. Note $80/dog. Guests with dogs must pick up dog excrement or be fined. Of special note in our legal agreement: While every attempt will be made to ensure that all advertised equipment and appliances are in working order at the commencement of Guest's stay, no reduction of rent, rebate, or refund will be issued for a mechanical failure of heater, dishwasher, washer, dryer, TV, refrigerator or other appliances.

SECURITY HOLD: A security hold on your credit card is required. It will be placed separately prior to your arrival or at check-in. Guests are expected to maintain the home and courtyard in good, operable, and generally clean condition. The guest is responsible for any damages or breakage to the Unit by anyone and/or pets allowed to enter the Unit during the rental period. We may elect to either deduct any damage from the Security Hold, charging the credit card on file of the Lead Renter for any damage, breakage, or excessive cleaning costs caused by the Guest and/or party.

SECURITY CAMERAS/NOISE MONITORING: This home is equipped with 2 surveillance cameras located outside the front and back of the home to monitor the perimeter of the property. We measure the noise level inside and outside the property and will advise the guest if it exceeds 50dB. By accepting a reservation, you acknowledge and agree to possible recording at the front and back entrances of the house.

TSRA FACILITIES OUT OF OUR CONTROL: Due to high demand and limited availability of facilities requiring reservations for lap swim and Tennis/Pickleball, as managed by TSRA, we cannot guarantee that all guests will have access to the pools and courts. Please note that no refund(s) will be provided in relation to the TSRA facilities.

PROPERTY ACCESS DETAILS: Guests' check-in, checkout, and full property access details are sent at the time of booking via our contract, digital guidebook, and reminders sent periodically through to and including the day of check-in. Information is sent via email, SMS, and is included in our guidebook with video and written description. Guests are informed that the door code is live at 4 PM, on the contracted time of check-in. The code to the door expires at 11AM on the day of Check-Out, as per the contract. We are available by phone if further instruction or support is needed.

The property’s location is unbeatable to relax with calming views all around. It is also well stocked with all the luxury amenities to make one feel truly pampered. We found ourselves reaching for the guidebook often as it is a great resource to explore local activities. Great place to chill

If you need to unwind, there is no better place than Sea Ranch. And if you are looking for a place to stay, Abalone Bay ticks all the boxes. Located on the bluff, the home provides quick access to about 8 miles of oceanside walking trails. It comes fully equipped with everything you’ll need for your stay and it is dog friendly. The owner provides a guidebook that lists things to do, places to eat, area current events, and other information regarding how to use everything the home.

A wonderful stay

My husband and I, along with our daughter, son-in-law, and their 2 young children spent a wonderful 6 days at Abalone Bay. The property was so thoughtfully stocked- from all the available kitchen equipment and spices, the shampoo and conditioners in the baths, down to the blankets for the chilly evenings- that we wanted for little. The views from the living room were simply amazing! We also loved spending time in the spacious outdoor area, all enclosed so that our 2 year old grandson could run around safely. The daily walks along the beautiful rugged coastline were a welcome change from the summer heat of Chicago and Pasadena. We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our stay so relaxing!

This is the third year we have stayed at Abalone Bay, sharing the house with another couple. It is a splendid home, beautifully furnished, with a well-equipped kitchen that one can actually cook in, and an ideal location yards from the sea bluff trail. Relaxing and comfortable home away from home

Daily short walk along the trail to watch the Harbor Seals frolick in the clear waters near their sun-basking peers. Champagne at sunset every night. Daily drive into Gualala to visit cute shops and get dinner fixings at Surf Market. Morning swim and sauna at Ohlson rec center - make reservations for swim lane online in advance. Great hot tub in the private backyard. Ping pong in the garage. House is fully equipped for cooking at home, we hardly ever dine elsewhere, although we like to grab to-go meals at Trinks, Two Fishes and Upper Crust pizza.

Great house and terrific location. Had our dogs with us and very easy to have them there. There’s a great dog park to give them a lot of running. House was equipped with everything you need and more. We had a week of great weather so walking and exploring was great would recommend this property whole heartedly

perfect ocean stay

The house is immaculate, stocked with everything you could possibly need, overlooking the ocean. Completely stocked kitchen with fancy gadgets, hot hot tub, comfortable furniture/beds, fabulous master shower. Steps from a bluff side trail that goes for miles and miles of scenic coastline. Stay and I'm sure you'll be back, as will we!

Wonderful property, wonderful hosts

This house is beautiful, the property is as well. Right on the coast, exactly as pictured. It’s about a 40-60 minute lovely walk to the lodge for coffee and snacks- the trail along the water at Sea Ranch is one of the best parts! Donna, the host, was extremely responsive and has been wonderful - we left something important at the house and she helped locate it and get it back to us. Will definitely be coming back!

Beyond Wonderful

Abalone Bay was the most wonderful home I've stayed in - the ocean views, the proximity to the bluff trail, the gorgeous interior and setup, and Donna's proactive communication were all well beyond expectations. Another fun stay at Abalone Bay

Abalone Bay has become our favorite place to stay in Sea Ranch. To start with, it allows dogs and has a fenced in area for them to play. Our dog loves coming back. Beyond being a great place for dog lovers, it is located right on the bluff trail, has great views of the ocean for whale watching, and has a very well equipped kitchen with just about anything you need while staying there. Donna, the owner, provides a professionally done guide book that suggests where to eat, hike, fish, go for entertainment, and answers questions regarding operating anything in the house. One of the most important things to us is that although it allows dogs, the home is very clean with no dog smells.

Sun, Sea, and Sights

Sea Ranch Abalone Bay is a the place to go if you need to unwind. It is a great place to commune with nature. Had great weather for our stay at Abalone Bay allowing for whale spotting while walking Bear, our dog, along the seaside bluff. Took advantage of Donna's (owner) suggestion and attended the Gualala Art Festival. It presented arts and crafts from local artists including some talented individuals. Saw several pods of spouting whales while sitting outside on the new Adirondack chairs. They were harder to spot this time because they were mostly out on the horizon. We also saw a deceased large female humpback on the rocks near walk on beach. That was sad. As of our leaving the cause of death had not yet been determined. Sea Ranch is not known for it's fine dining so we ate in several nights bringing some prepared meals with us. Abalone Bay has everything needed to prepare and serve meals just like home. Had dinner at Pier Place in Point Arena. Tried the Rockfish tacos this time which were great. Just another great time for us and our dog, Bear at Sea Ranch.

Sea Ranch Heaven on Earth

We loved the house that looked even better in person. The location was great and house perfect for a group of adults. We especially appreciated the well equipped kitchen, BBQ and access to walking trail. We hope to return.

Beautiful Sea Ranch property

Our four-night stay was a superb, relaxing getaway at a five-star property. Everything was top-of-the-line, from bedding and furniture to appliances and audio-visual equipment. We even played some ping-pong! Donna was wonderfully communicative and accommodating, and the downloadable guide book was detailed to a fault, yet easy to search. Highly recommend!

Perfect Getaway

Spent 3 incredibly relaxing days with longtime friends. Home was beautiful and very well appointed - nothing missing! Views were spectacular and we enjoyed all of the walking paths along the cliffs above Sea Ranch. Will definitely come back!

This home is beautifully decorated and perfectly equipped. It was a pleasure to stay there and enjoy the surrounding beauty...inside and out!! After this rainy winter, the blooming yellow Lupine adds to the coastal scenery.

My husband, Jorge, and I have always had a love affair with the Sonoma Coast, and most especially with The Sea Ranch. Just before we made up our mind to purchase our home, Jorge went diving in the waters below. There, he harvested his first 10" abalone! That cinched the deal and gave rise to our naming our new home "Sea Ranch Abalone Bay" for the cove that graciously gave up the yummy mollusk. Unfortunately, harvesting abalone is no longer possible, but spearfishing and fishing off the bluff remain a favorite activity for Jorge and me, and our many guests. We'll be happy to share some of our insider tips with you, too!

We give back to our community globally and locally.
We have always believed in the importance of family, friends, and giving back to our community. No matter where we have lived over the years we have always been active in the community we call home. That connection shows that we are all linked no matter where on the globe we or our guests may be at any moment.

In these times of climate change with its global warming, it becomes even more important that Abalone Bay recommits itself to the original covenant of The Sea Ranch. Further, we also declare a climate emergency. Based on the science before us, we promise actionable steps to stop the climate emergency we now face. For that reason, we have joined Tourism Declares. This initiative supports tourism businesses, organizations, and individuals that declare a climate emergency and take purposeful action to reduce their carbon emissions.

We also act locally as members of the Sea Ranch/Mendocino Community. A portion of the proceeds from your guest rental is given directly back to the people of "Mendonoma." We also invite our guests to join us in this endeavor. Local non-profits we support include: Coastal Seniors, Action Network, Redwood Coast Humane Society, and Redwood Empire Food Bank.

From the very first moment we set foot on the bluff where our home now rests, we knew The Sea Ranch would forever be our sanctuary. The call of the ocean—sometimes gentle and sparkling, other times wild and dramatic—pulls you in, its shifting moods painting a new picture every day. Here, nature doesn’t just surround you; it greets you at your doorstep. Deer pause to quietly graze in the meadow, a fox or bobcat may cross your path, while herons and pelicans glide gracefully across the horizon. My husband, ever the angler, delights in beginning his mornings with coffee before strolling to the cliff’s edge to cast his line for the day’s lunch. Meanwhile, the kids and I wander down the trail to say hello to the harbor seals lounging just steps away. This is the rhythm of life here—simple, grounding, and endlessly renewing. We purchased our home not only for its beauty but with a vision of gathering and sharing it with the ones we love. Over time, we expanded to include a game room and garage complete with ping pong and outdoor games, as well as a private courtyard with a hot tub just off the principal bedroom—perfect for soaking while gazing out to the endless ocean and stars above. What drew us here, and what continues to hold us, is the harmony of joy, relaxation, and connection—among family, friends, and the extraordinary natural world that makes The Sea Ranch unlike anywhere else.

Sea Ranch Abalone Bay provides direct access to the ocean bluff trail. Our full amenities, dog friendly home includes not only high-quality linens, towels & robes. Expanded windows in the oceanfront home allow you views of deer, whales, and sunsets. Recently updated decor provides you with a relaxing and family-friendly home to enjoy your vacation. Our garage with an EV outlet protects your car with salt-free parking on the coast.

Guests have private access to the whole house, private courtyard, one garage space, and common places.
Minimum night stay- 2 nights
Summer (Jun1-August 31)- minimum stay is 5 nights

Communication with guests include:
*Our more in-depth legal rental agreement that guest is required to sign to complete booking. Failing that owner reserves right to cancel the booking.
* A copy of Guest's Legal Photo ID (Driver's License or Passport) collected upon submission of our booking contract

* Expansive, fully detailed Digital Sea Ranch Abalone Bay - Welcome Guidebook
* Welcoming guests personally with prior agreement and arrangement
* Guest's check-in, checkout, and full property access details are sent at time of booking and reminders sent periodically through and including day of check-in. Information is sent via email, SMS and are included in our guidebook with video and written description. Guests are are informed door code is live at 4PM, on contracted time of check in. Code to door expires at 11AM on day of Check-out as per contract. Owner is available by phone if further instruction or support is needed.
