My husband and I, both physicians, bought this lot in 12 hours sight unseen when my brother, a local real estate agent, called to tell us that it had gone on the market. I grew up in the Aspen area, and knew how special this lane is. Even though we were not thinking retirement, both of our sons ended up going to college in the west, and this home that we built quickly became our favorite holiday haven. Skiing, snowboarding, fishing, hiking, pack trips through the mountains, summer concerts - We love it all.

For years we considered buying, because our family didn't fit well into my brother's or my mother's home. Not until the perfect lot became available did we consider buying and building. We look down at the valley AND up at the ski hill - on a special little ridge off Wood Road, where several of the very first homes were built. (Mr. Janss was the original developer of Snowmass.) With binoculars, you can see this house from every high point on the mountain.

The house is spacious and every bedroom has a view. The two 'kids'' rooms - 6 twin beds in two rooms with intervening rumpus area - are separated from the 'adult' king bedrooms by a whole floor, allowing privacy. The hot tub is on the lowest level with the kids rooms. The large deck is off the living-dining room kitchen. The steam shower and the Jacuzzi, inside, are good for tired bones, as well. The fully appointed kitchen makes large meals for many people an easy assignment. We have every book you never read in high school, as well as best sellers, thrillers and beach trash. And we have a piano.
