Little get away

My family loved this house. It is right on the water so the boys were able to fish right from the house. We all loved our get away. I would recommend this house for any family that loves to be on the water.

Pet friendly, fully gated! We loved the location across from the marina. Excellent spot & convenient for bait, drinks, food... They were having a fishing tournament, and it was so fun people watching from our deck & listening to the loud music. There was a dead roach in the master & the master mattress was not great to sleep on, I had to move to one of the other beds the 2nd night. All of the downstairs chairs were broken, lucking we brought our own. It would be nice to have a table down there to put your drink, food or whatever on. Will remember to bring my own rod holders next time too. I caught several fish (throw-backs, but still fun). Trout, redfish, hardheads.

Need more toilet paper

Need more toilet paper for week stays and trash bags. Other than that it was a magical weekend and plan on staying again.

Beach access-great!

The beach access was great, access to stores, good food & decent restaurants quite a drive away, still fine. Weather was poor virtually whole time there, which made it rough to really enjoy surroundings & miles of beach access. This of course was not fault of this property. Local folks are very congenial & was impressed with customer service virtually all places we visited.

Nice deck and very clean; beds need improvement

The deck area of this house is very nice and we enjoyed the canal location. It was very clean and the property owner / leasing company were very responsive. The listing says the primary bedroom has a queen bed in it but it's a double that is not very comfortable. (I woke up with a backache.) Also a bit expensive when you add in all the fees, plus you can't check in until 4:00 pm and have to be out by 10:00 a.m. It didn't bother us but do keep in mind that the house is right across from the marina restaurant that has pretty loud live music on Saturday night.

Needs some work

When we arrived at the rental there was a garbage can overflowing at the front gate. Looked trashy. The gate and fence need a paint job badly. We saw we had no towels in the house so i called the management co, i was told they had a busy weekend and we wouldn’t have towels until the next day…What! An hour later i received a text stating towels would be dropped off later in the day. That never happened. The next morning i called back and was told they were still working on getting us towels. They didn’t show up until 5 pm on the 2nd day of our stay. The mattresses all need to be replaced. Worn out and all sink into the middle. The house needs updating on a lot of items. The location was good by the marina. We shouldn’t have been charged a cleaning fee since we didn’t have clean towels for 2 days. We wont be back.

Wonderful house!

The house was great! Perfect location across from the marina! The area was quiet. The house was wonderful! Very clean! It had everything we needed! The beds were comfortable! The a/c and water temperature in the showers were great! There was plenty of room and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and enjoying the weather! We would stay here again!

Short get away

We come to Galveston a lot this is the first time we stayed at this location. Everything about it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely stay here again.

Good but wouldn't re-book

We enjoyed our stay but a few things would keep us from re-booking. Furniture in living area (two recliners) were broken, beds were uncomfortable. Access to fishing pier was not provided. For safety purposes, ladder or steps should be provided out of canal (my dog accidentally fell in and we had to use a fishing net to get her out).

Property Manager never called or returned emails

We had to continually contact booking company. No correspondence at all from rental company or property manager. We had driven 6hrs and were half hour away at 3:00 check in time and had not received checkin key code. We finally were able to reach someone with the code after we had arrived at the property an hour previous. Never heard back on any correspondence while emailing the property contact as of yet. The property is great, and clean. That's the highlight. The management of the property is horrible. If I owned this property,I'd find a different broker. I won't use that rental company again. I will deter any and all from using this company or renting this property. Absolute zero customer service. Also the pool pass is "a bill" not included in booking, because property is in HOA. Failed to mention before or after booking.

Had a good time

The property is away from the busy area of Galveston and back into water. For us with young kids, we had a lot of fun fishing from the backyard. We even caught a few crabs - we thought March is not exactly the crab season?! The community has a playground and pool. There is a convenience store and restaurant in couple of minutes walking distance. Beach is across the road. Overall a great location! The property shows some aging but it is very clean.

Family drama escape for peace of mind

Renting was fast and easy. House was nice as described. Location is quite aways out from all the tourist things which was OK with us. We knew that and brought all we needed with us. Description does not mention the wonderful pier that is included. If not for having a gulfcart and riding around we would have never know of it's existence. Bar and restaurant just on other side of the marina provided music in the evenings and great tasting food. The attached convenience store and giftshop were used too, especially by the teens for snacks and icecream. There is a pool but when we tried to buy passes they told my husband it was only for members. This was very disappointing as it was a major reason we rented this particular house. We had a maintenance issue with the door locks and handles. They were able to fix the lock but the door handle was worse when he left (kept falling off. I think he lost a screw) they said they needed to get a new handle. Checking out today and still not fixed. Overall house was very comfy, just the right size for our family of five. We loved the thick bath towels. Although I did not cook much there were plenty pots and pans and they looked in decent shape. I would come back and I would recommend this house, area to friends.

Wonderful experience

This place was clean, stocked with necessary basics (kitchen applicances,dishes, sliver wear, blankets, pillows etc) we over packed based on past reviews. They had a brand new grill as well. We have zero complaints. We were able to enjoy so much at catch of the day, from fishing to enjoying a drink on deck and being able to hear music and karoke from the sandbar just across the canal. The neighbors were nice as well!! Only thing I would have found more helpful is the one trash bin! But we survived. Thanks ryson for hosting us! Will definitely book again!!!!!!

Great Location!

Our recent stay at Catch of the Day was over the 3 day weekend. The location was great.. if you have ever had a boat the launch ramp is always a show! We sat up on the deck and had wonderful music from the marina restaurant and watched the boats and kayak's go out and in. Great fishing off the back yard as well!! Especially for the kids who dropped a line and out came a fish several times! The house, well it was not in the best of shape.. seems to truly be a rental most of the time! 2 of the 3 beds were very soft and you better like snuggling with the person next to you..you will roll to the middle! If you are cooking and hanging out at the house and not always at the beach, bring your sharp knives (they were like butter knives), decent cook pots, towels, and garbage bags. BBQ was rusted and not really usable. We were far down the road from Galveston, which was good and bad.. pack all your goods before you head to the house! Overall I gave this house a 3+.. great location for hanging on the deck and just a very short drive to the beach (rent a golf cart!) .. but just an okay house which needs some hard updates and cleaning.

Caught more than expected at Catch of the Day home in Sea Isle Texas

Check in via Ryson Vacation Rentals was very smooth and expedient. The home needs some work and better cleaning. Front bedroom had bed bugs in the mattress. Daughters slept on the coaches in the front living room. Rear bedroom to the left had black hairs logged in the comforter. Grossed my middle daughter out and she slept on her own blanket on top of the bed. Bedroom to the rear right had a mattress that sagged to the middle severely. Love my wife and all but caused us to sleep almost on top of each other. We had to wash all of the dishes prior to use. Most of the plates had what appeared to be butter on them. Utensils were no better and covered with sand. We only had one trash bag and one roll of paper towl in the kitchen. So had to go buy more on own. Then found out there was only one partial roll of toilet paper as well. So had to buy that also. Then at midnight on our final night the front toilet backed up. Spent an hour trying to plunge with no success. We left a message on answering machine with Ryson so they could deal with it prior to new folks checking in. Upon departure my wife shared the above with the young lady at the desk at Ryson. Wife said this person seemed not to care about the issues we faced. We have stayed all over Texas, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi with VRBO and numerous homes. This was the first experience we felt very disappointed with. Finally made me realize there are SO MANY rules in the Realtor/VRBO contracts to protect the home owners and not much for the renters. Something i will be paying much closer attention to in the future.
