This is our second year staying on this property [8 years overall in Berkeley Springs]. As always Chris & Company are always accommodating. The property is just the right distance from the town, about 10-15 minute drive. Our favorite spots are Josephine's, Canary Grille, the Naked Olive, Hillbilly Heaven, Berkeley Springs Brewing Co. and Cacapon Mountain Brewing Co.

Wonderful location for a family reunion

We had a very easy experience booking and checking in into the property. The owners got in touch in advance to share information and also came out to meet us. When we had questions during our stay, they responded quickly. The spacious buildings and grounds kept our group entertained.

Beautiful Relaxing Stay

There was so much space to accomodate my large group of friends. The views and trails were wonderful and we were provided with everything we needed to feel right at home. Some of our group enjoyed venturing out and changing the local sights while others didn't even feel the need to leave the house to have a good vacation.

Beautiful property!

First time staying at the property. Walking trails, pond, activities at both lodging areas, and oh my what a beautiful property to watch the sunrise and sunset. Bonfire outside at night you can watch the moon come up over the barn - priceless. Very good property and if given the chance we would have our annual family vacation here again! This was our second week long stay at this property. Chris is the best host we have ever had on a rental, very accommodating and always quick to respond to questions. He seems to genuinely care about both the property and those who rent it! The houses and associated grounds are very well maintained and stocked with everything under the sun! We absolutely LOVE staying here. The grounds are fabulous. There are multiple trails throughout the property, some in the open and sun, some shaded in the woods. The woods are great for scavenger hunts - not too overgrown to roam off the beaten path. There is a lovely pond with a new deck for fishing as well. They provided splash pads for the kids which they enjoyed multiple times during our stay. The heart house was our main location for activities. The main eating area can be expanded to accommodate a large group, and Chris remembered our request from the last visit and had it all arranged for us on arrival. There are multiple rooms on the main floor for activities, and also a full basement with a pool table, ping pong, bean bag toss, etc. We had space to put us our screen and projector for a movie night which worked out very well. The screened porch with rocking chairs was a favorite for those who wanted a peaceful sport for reading or contemplation. The bardominium was also great - first floor open area for activities and well stocked kitchen as well. Great view from the patio!

The property is beautiful and very spacious and perfect for large parties. The environment is so relaxing you don't feel like you have a care in the world. The hosts were wonderful and always checking of there was anything they could do to make our stay more enjoyable. And the pond on the property has plenty of fish and the kids enjoyed it immensely. Fantastic 3 night stay for group retreat

My research group members and myself (total 13 people) had a fantastic stay here. Everything was well organized and though of by the owners. We used both houses and including one air bed, all 13 slept well. They also arranged a projector set up for us to hold scientific discussions. The property is huge and really beautiful with lots of deer running around. I will definitely plan to come back here!

Winter getaway for us

5 families were looking to get away for a quick weekend. Had a lot of fun. Very nicely maintained property. Lots of things to do. Only cons are if you are a big group, the second house is a bit far to go back and forth. The House is old but to be expected with respect to the HVAC ducts. Difficult to predict which rooms get very warm or not.

Thanks so much, Anup. We really appreciate the five stars and also your note about the temperature differences. It helped us track down the issue and get it resolved. And since your visit, we’ve also removed the old garden that used to be between the houses, so getting back and forth is a bit more straightforward now. You’re always welcome back.

Large Family Gathering

Beautiful peaceful stay. We rented both houses to host all of our family that game for my daughter’s graduation party. It was perfect for a large family stay. The main house is beautiful and has a nice screened porch that we enjoyed for morning coffee and late evening conversations. Everyone enjoyed the basement game room too. The Barndo was perfect for the young adults. We enjoyed the corn hole in the garage and had a fire in the firepit too. Berkeley Ridge was the perfect place for our reunion. The location was easy to access for people coming from all over the East coast from Quebec to Tennessee. The spacious and open rooms were perfect for meeting and eating and celebrating. There were the number of beds, and bathrooms!, we needed for all of us to be comfortable. The beds and bedding were very clean and comfortable. Both houses are very clean and modernized. The kitchens are great to work in for food prep for many people (we were 11). They have all the equipment, utensils, cutlery and place settings for a large group. We found ourselves on the screened porch every morning listening to the dozens of birds that live in and around the house, fields and forest. It was very special. The grounds are well taken care of. The many varieties of iris were in full bloom and were a delight for the eyes! We took advantage of the 3.5 miles of trails that weave around the property and take you to beautiful woods and vistas of the WV countryside. Chris and Aaron were excellent with communication and very accommodating of our needs. We really appreciated all the special work that has gone into Berkeley Ridge to create this beautiful property. We are grateful for the special tour and time to make us feel welcome. We are already figuring out when we can return for our next reunion. THANK YOU!

Wedding weekend

We were planning on getting married outside in Cacapon State Park but the weather had other ideas. As our guests arrived they all commented on how great the house was. Everyone had their own space and were super comfortable. We had the wedding and food in the garage in the Barndominium. I was still able to have the great view I wanted as the backdrop to the ceremony. A few people suggested we go back to celebrate our one year anniversary. We couldn’t have asked for better accommodations.

Jolie - we are delighted that the accommodations worked out - your original plan with the State Park sounds wonderful and glad we could step in after Tropical Storm Ophelia crashed the wedding. Please do come back when its sunny and enjoy the trails and evening sunset at the top of the ridge. Thanks for choosing us, we appreciate it. Aaron, Jennifer & Chris The Berkeley Ridge team

Spectacular homes and property -- a dream vacation!

This incredible estate just outside Berkeley Springs exceeded our high expectations in every way. Both homes are pristine, spacious, and oh so comfortable, with so many amenities that we didn't even have time to take advantage of all the available indoor and outdoor activities. And really, just sitting outside and relaxing on the several decks/porches/hillsides is all you need in this setting -- but we had to work that in around hiking, playing pool, ping-pong, foosball, darts, the dozens of board games and puzzles, all thoughtfully provided. The hosts truly thought of everything our large family and group of friends could possibly have needed, and more. And cooking meals for everyone in this well-stocked kitchen was such a pleasure! Truly a perfect setting for a wonderful family reunion. The lovely town of Berkeley Springs is close by, if you need good restaurants or groceries. We'll definitely be back!

Judy, so very pleased that you and family enjoyed the properties. Love it that you made great use of the various games and still had time to walk the trails. Please come back and see us again when you can. Aaron, Jennifer & Chris

Aaron and Jennifer with their son had the good fortune to be able to purchase the larger property from a couple that had owned it since the early 1970s. They wanted a place to visit on the weekends away from the city and that they could share with others; family, friends, and even some Boy Scout units that camp on the property. One of their joys is being able to share the experience with others and to be good stewards of the land.

This has been our place to relax and regroup since purchasing it in 2013.

The homes are a blend of old and new. An original barn was failing and was replaced with the exceptional post-frame building by Conestoga Buildings. We rebuilt on the same location, just a bit larger and a whole lot more comfortable. We have hosted folks here including Scout troops to enjoy the property. The Heart Hill House has been expanded greatly from its 1912 origins as a country farm house.

The location is an easy access from metropolitan areas: Less than 2 hours travel from several major cities (Baltimore or Washington DC regions) on easy roads, our well-maintained gravel road leads to 120+ acres of grassy fields and forests.

Lots to explore: Trails loop through and around the property. A four acre lake offers serenity and peace of mind.

Abundant wildlife: take time to enjoy the variety of creatures that live on the property; restore yourself and appreciate the shared world we all live in.
