Historic, eco-friendly/solar-powered home w/ a shared backyard & ping pong table, hot tub & sauna - dog-friendly!

Built in 1860, this historic Arcata home, once home to author Brett Hart, has been newly remodeled and updated. This lovely rental is located on the first floor and features a full kitchen, small dining table, and a comfortable, sunlit living area warmed by a gas fireplace. Outside, enjoy the shared, enclosed, grassy backyard with outdoor seating, a gas BBQ, and even a Ping-Pong table. Guests of this rental will also enjoy access to a shared, on-site sauna & outdoor hot tub.

Things to know:
WiFi (83 mbps download speed, 25 mbps upload speed, 15ms latency)
The family dog is welcome to join you here (1 dog max, $18 pet fee applies)
1 40 AMP quick charge EV charger in driveway (shared with triplex) $1 per 10 miles honor system
Laundry, sauna and hot tub facilities shared with the two other units in triplex
Four beach cruiser bicycles provided for use

You will asked to sign separate rental agreement sent to your email for e signature before receiving your check in info, as we are a small locally owned property management team.

A damage waiver, covering up to $1,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

Parking Notes: We cannot guarantee a spot in the driveway as they are shared between guests of all three units on a first come, first served basis. Ample street parking is available for guest use. On 10th Street, you can park right in front of the home between 4:00pm - 10:00am the following morning. Outside of these hours, there is a two-hour limit for street parking spots. There is no time limit across the street, so guests can park there anytime.

Guest Entry Instructions: This rental utilizes an E-lock, a digital lock that requires a unique code to enter.

If you want to hit the beach, this rental is just four miles from Ma-le'l Dunes Park and five miles from Humboldt Beach and the Dunes Trail. Only 40 miles north, discover Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and Lady Bird Johnson Grove Trail, with over 100 miles of hiking trails.

We had a lot of fun at this home. It was just big enough for the 4 of us. We enjoyed the hot tub which seemed to be well maintained. The Sauna didn't get up to temperature. It only got up to about 115 and then started to cool off again so I am not sure if it is broken or not. The bikes were great too. The house is a short walk from many stores and restaurants, and close to campus, the community forest and disc golf. If you are staying in Arcata this place is great!

This is our second time staying at The Drift and we have stayed at The Loft three times. We love this property. It is so clean and beautiful. It has a calming vibe. I love getting up early and having coffee out on the porch. I love how we can just park our car at the residence and just walk into town. Definitely always want to stay here when we visit Arcata.

Wasnt aware that it was multiple units but was still a great place! Beautiful yard! Beds comfy, amazing shower pressure, enjoyed the hot tub didn't have time for sauna or bikes. Would definitely come back!

We love this rental. It’s in a wonderful location. Walking distance to the square. A safe walkable neighborhood. They allowed our fur baby too!

As described but area NOT

One room no heat and houseless community living in vehicles surrounding area. And really the whole space is shared not just the outside common area no real privacy would not stay again

Couldn't have asked for a better Location

My daughter and I came to stay while she checked out CalPoly for her college choice. This location was perfect. Easy access to everything. Never used the bikes but it was nice to have them as an option. We did take advantage of the hot tub and laundry. The house was very clean and had enough bedding and towels. Easy check in we will be coming back several times a year to visit her throughout college and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

First VRBO it was a good experience over all.

An old property but everything worked as it should. I found the bed to be OK my wife found it far too hard.

College Visit

We took our two upper classmen boys to Arcata to check out the area. The house was great for the 4 of us. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Short drive to campus, the redwoods, and the beach. We all utilized the hot tubs during our stay. If we’re back up this way, I would definitely book again.

Great house in excellent location

Excellent communication with host. Very attentive. House is great for a couple or small families. Conveniently located 2 minutes away from the main Plaza.

Wonderful home in a very nice neighborhood

The "Downtown Drift" is an awesome place to stay! The house was very cozy and clean. Our family appreciated the ping pong table and jacuzzi in the backyard, and the close proximity to Arcata Plaza. I highly recommend this place!

Nice place, good location

We enjoyed staying at this Downtown Drift. There are lots of walkable restaurants and shops. Redwoods and beaches are less than an hour away, most are within 30 minutes. The property was clean, tidy and had everything we needed.
