Throughout the years we have worked to improve the condition, appearance, cleanliness, amenities of our home with equal emphasis on landscaping which is our passion. Katama is one of the most desirable areas on Martha's Vineyard.The word 'Katama' comes from a Wampanoag word meaning 'crab-fishing place.' The terrain is a flat out-wash plain, characterized by sandy soil and few trees. It is sometimes referred to as the 'Great Plains.' Katama has been a popular summer resort since the late 1800s. Our Katama home is strategically located close to South Beach/Katama Bay and the Village of Edgartown. Better yet, it is located on a private and quiet road, just a short walk to 1) the island-wide biking trails, 2) a trolley stop which will connects in the Village of Edgartown to all island destinations and 3) the Katama Airfield. Just down the road are South Beach ( public beach with summer lifeguards, restrooms and free parking) and Katama Bay, protected by a barrier beach, which is great spot for shell fishing and launching kayaks. It also has a public landing and boat ramp. Or you may want to visit the close by Katama Farm which is owned by the Town of Edgartown and leased to The Farm Institute a nonprofit teaching farm that educates and engages children and adults in sustainable agriculture through the diverse operations of a working farm by providing year-round educational programs offering learning experiences in: Farming (field crops, produce, fruit, hay); Land preservation; The culture and history of Martha's Vineyard farming; Nutritional awareness; and Humane livestock management (cattle, poultry, swine, sheep, goats). Forgot to mentionRight Fork at the Katama Kitchen (Summer only) at 12 Mattakesett Way (right at Katama Field Airport). Food is served inside or on their deck right in the middle of Katama Airfield so you can watch the private planes take off and land.The bi-plane tours of the island are fun too.

Our home has hundreds of feet of gardens and is surrounded by a manicured lawn surrounding the entire home. It is situated in a private quiet residential neighborhood We take great pride in keeping our home clean and healthy. We have an absolute no pet no smoking rule. Having pine floors throughout and no wall to wall helps maintain a healthy environment; and the basement has a dehumidifier. ; window fans and oscillating fans for each room; price includes all utilities and trash removal; WI FI, satellite TV with music stations, blue ray and radio; an outside water hose next to parking area is available so you can wash down your car, beach or fishing gear ( or let the kids have a water fight !); kids play yard and special detached kids cottage; outside swing set in the back yard; outside post lights and flood lights for nighttime events; picnic table is conveniently located outside the kitchen door and barbecue deck; and there’s plenty of lawn furniture to enjoy.
