not what we expected and a safety concern
First, the positives. The unit was very clean and well stocked with everything you need. Bob clearly wants his guests to enjoy nature and was very responsive to my questions.
However, we were disappointed. The place is not nearly as secluded as it looks in the listing. We had the impression from the listing and the video that we would see/hear waves, but when we arrived, the sea was very calm with just ripples. The next morning it was the same. Bob is a sailor and explained that waves are dependent on the wind. We are city people and the lake near us always has waves when we go to the waterfront, so I assumed that we could expect waves, and I would expect that at some point in the week, there would be. But a couple other things that were not disclosed in the listing convinced us to leave after just one night (we booked and paid for 7 nights). The ceiling by the stairway is very low and I hit my head very hard when going upstairs. Since the bathroom is on the 1st floor and the bedroom is on the 2nd floor, the thought of getting up a couple times every night and trying to remember to duck going up and down the stairs was not pleasant. Also, the doorways are low so I had to crouch down when moving through the unit. We decided that we just could not stay there. Also, the house rules that I received a few days before our stay are not in the listing. Had I known that guests are not supposed to flush toilet paper and are expected to put used tp in a bag and take the bag out to the trash, we might have had second thoughts. We ended up staying elsewhere.
