Mediocre place to stay with a parking spot

Rough area but normal for city living. Most surfaces clean, but a lot of caked on dust on the fridge (eye level for 6’2”) and cooking space. I bumped my head a few times on the exhaust hood over the stove, located in the middle of the kitchen. Pot handles were all loose and fridge handle came loose and hit my daughter in the head while using it normally. A lump and the accompanying tears were a low spot for our stay. No communication from owner after we mentioned that. Weak spot in upstairs floor as well. Maybe it passes for city quality but in general, it was not what we expected. Other than that, we were able to easily grab public transportation, and could park our 12 passenger van in the parking space provided. The shower was nice.

Nice place but could use some improvements

My wife and I stayed here for a week with our teenage kids July 21st - July 27th. There were some things that went well with our stay, but some other things that could have also made our stay a little better compared to other VRBO stays in the past. First, when we entered, we noticed a washer and dryer. We didn't see any of those in the photos, so this was a welcome surprise, since we were going to be in town for a while. A few of the other items throughout the week seemed to pop up which is why I'm writing this review and giving the average rating. We were surprised by some of the basic things that are missing or that were on the listing that are just not on the advertised item you agreed to, but you deal with it to make everyone happy on your vacation. Listing states 'fully stocked kitchen' but there are zero mixing bowls, measuring cups, cookie sheets or any cookware to actually put anything into the oven. We purchased basic groceries like a tube cinnamon rolls and couldn't even bake them in the oven. But we made the best of our trip and for all future meals. But even the pots and pans handles all seem loose. Something like this could be fixed for $50. There seems to be a mosquito problem in the house along with a lot of dust throughout the entire residency. Also seemed odd we were given one trash bag for one full week. Luckily we had gone grocery shopping so we used those shopping bags as our trash bags too. Nice stay, but lots of minor issues.

Just ok

First off, the pictures are of the inside and really make this place look better than it actually is. Secondly, the exterior has not been maintained at all. It looks very trashy, overgrown weeds, trash behind the house, no exterior maintenance at all. As for the interior, it's a very third-rate renovation at best. the kitchen wasn't very well equipped compared to the many rentals we have stayed in over the years. as for cleanliness, whoever is doing the cleaning on this place, I would consider replacing. Upon lifting the window shades, I was shocked to see the amount of dust and crud on the windows. We chose this place because they offered 2 spots of off-street parking, the owner asked for all the vehicle information which I emailed 2 weeks prior to our arrival. I was expecting to have 2 passes waiting for us but found out there wasn't anything, also there was only one spot off-street, after a few back-and-forth emails she dropped off a permit to park one car on the street. I found it to be pretty well located but the neighborhood is kind of sketchy, I was wakened the first night by gunshots pretty close by. If your not bothered by what I mentioned and your looking for something convienient and a pretty decent price, I would just give it an OK rating at best.

Great location and great layout!

This property was the perfect size, price, and location for our family of 6. The layout was great for hanging out together in the living area, eating in the dining/kitchen area, and playing board/card games at night after a day in the city. It was hot in DC when we were there and air conditioning worked great! The convenient free parking spot right behind the house was so nice. The host was very kind and easy to communicate with—I would give that category 5++ stars if I could. Highly recommend!

Spring DC trip

Great property in quiet neighborhood. It would benefit from a deep cleaning. Cookware is limited and there is no bakeware, but kitchen is nice. Beds are very comfortable. Recommend room darkening curtains or blinds as streetlights are bright in front bedroom and morning sunlight is bright in rear bedroom. Excellent communication from property owner.

Overall good but Needs some work

The neighborhood was fairly quiet with young families and pleasant neighbors. The place was nice but had a few issues. The front porch railing is not actually connected to anything and if you lean on it, you’re going to fall. The upstairs railing inside is very loose. There is no outside light for safety. The front yard area is unkempt. We had a group of 5 of us staying but there were only 2 wash clothes. Rainfall shower head seems like a nice touch but there is no water pressure. It’s probably a flipped property that just needs a little more attention. Overall a good place and would stay again.

Everything you need in an excellent location

We had a great stay here in this East Capitol Hill neighborhood. Beds were comfy. Having a parking space is extremely helpful in DC. Neighborhood was safe and homey. Walking distance to a few restaurants. Owner was very responsive and we had no issues. I would absolutely recommend. Stayed here for four nights in spring with a work colleague. Room for 2 couples and perhaps a child or fifth person on couch bed downstairs. Nice kitchen. Fast Internet and TV with a few streaming channels.

Well-equipped two bedroom, two story home near Capitol Hill

The kitchen was nicely renovated with stainless steel appliances and a a large island. The queen beds were comfortable memory foam beds. The bus stop was right around the corner. The bus route was convenient to the Capital and the Mall. The tv in the living room had Netflix installed, so one evening we relaxed with a movie. The shower had a rain-type shower head and a separate spray head. We enjoyed our stay very much.

OK but not great

We stayed at this property for two nights. We stay in VRBO properties for 99% of our travels and rely on accurate reviews, so here it goes. This place is fine- there was plenty of space, the neighborhood felt safe, and it was reasonably well located to see the sights. There is room for improvement when it comes to cleanliness. Many surfaces are covered in dust. The floors didn’t seem clean. The place needs a paint job, walls are dirty and scuffed. The bathroom seemed clean enough but the shower had very low pressure. I would also not describe the kitchen as well stocked- very minimal, old pots and pans. We normally cook at least a couple of meals while traveling but not really doable here.

Capitol Hill lovely

Very nice property, great neighborhood, easy walking distance to Eastern Market area. Would stay here next time I’m in DC. Loved the artwork.

Nice and convenient

My husband and I stayed with another couple. The house provided plenty of space for us and we were able to walk to a couple places to eat from the house and we also walked to the Botanic Gardens, Museum of Natural History, the Art Gallery, White House and National Monument/Lincoln

Clean and comfortable

We loved the comfortable beds and amazing artwork. The coffee maker listed was a keurig, not a drip coffee maker-just something I like to know ahead of time. The neighborhood was quiet and the parking space perfect. We walked everywhere and found the metro train system easy to use.

GREAT PLACE!

Family Get together

My husband and I with our adult daughter stayed for 3 nights. It was a perfect location for us to visit family in Capitol Hill. The house was very comfortable and well equipped though I agree with another commenter that it would have been nicer to have had more bath towels. Would definitely stay again.

Comfy and good location

Location was great, close to 2 bus lines, downtown within 30-40min. Surfaces and floors were clean but the stovetop and higher places could use a deep clean as well as the sofa bed cover and the washing room. A/C was fantastic and water pressure for showering was great. Was especially pleased to find ziplocs and ice since we carried food with us to see the sites. Whole place could use a fresh paint job by a professional but beds were very comfortable (recommend your own pillow if you are particular). We arrived 10 min early and hadn't received the code. A quick message to the property manager and he sent the code as well as some good places to go for food. Overall was a reasonable place to stay.

Awesome Hosts & Great Location

Our hosts couldn't have been more gracious! We had difficulty finding the property (our cell phone GPS wasn't working) and called the hosts. They came and met us at a nearby shopping center (we were about 10 minutes away)and we followed them right there! The location was convenient to Capitol Hill area, and there was ample street parking too. The interior was clean and spacious. The mattresses are very comfortable and the bedding was great quality. We would highly recommend this property!!

Perfect spot to relax after museums

We loved this rental. Parking was a huge plus. Very comfortable and adored the artwork. Loved the tree lined, quiet street.

Great location, enjoyed our stay

Beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked and host provided enough supplies that we didn’t have to run to the store again and again. Very close to bus stops and a decent walk to the metro. Having parking right by the house helped so much!

Excellent stay

We stayed here with our children (5 of them) and the place was very clean and comfortable. Loved the decor and location. The welcome letter that was provided was very detailed and I really appreciated that as it was something I referred back to often. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this rental property. Everything was clean and it was a lovely place to unwind after sightseeing. It had a complete kitchen which allows us to cook and host meals for our daughter (she lives in a DC apartment with roommates). We loved having a free off street parking space in back of the townhouse. A weather-related issue arose with the townhome and the owner responded immediately and fixed the issue promptly. It was a great experience in a great location and a reasonable price. We will stay again when in the area and highly recommend it to others!

We are in the Safest and the most desirable neighborhood in DC, East Capitol Hill!
Short walk to Lincoln Park, Eastern Market, Capitol building, Botanical garden, Library of Congress, Smithsonian Museums and National Mall.

Steps to several different bus stops. Right in the corner of C street there are D6 bus which would take you to downtown, union station and Smithsonian museums.
-Safeway located at 415 14th St SE.
-Trader Joe's: located at 750 Pennsylvania Avenue.

There are lots of sharing scooters and bikes in the neighborhood so you can enjoy riding them exploring National Mall, Capital, White House and other attractions.
Don’t miss visiting The Wharf DC, it is a fun waking place by the water with lots of restaurants, sea food market and water taxis.
Whole Foods is located in H St.
Good bars and restaurants in 8th St Barracks Row and H St.
