Experience supreme luxury in The Great Escape, a 4500+ square foot lodge with compelling architecture, mountain character and every amenity imaginable. Browse the inviting library, host a pool tournament by the wall of windows, gather round the massive rock-faced, double-sided fireplace with large screen TV, simmer in the tiled steam room, snuggle up to any of the four gas log fireplaces, or just sit back and contemplate the great room ridge beam and massive trusses 28 feet above the slate floor. A flock of chefs still couldn't crowd the fully-stocked gourmet kitchen. This lavish lodge is the perfect getaway for all seasons and all purposes. *Patio furniture is seasonal

Great spacious home, plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, large kitchen. My family truly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely rent again!Only small issue was I think the cleaners were in a hurry and missed a few things. There were a few spiders and webs in the house, food under the coffee table. Downstairs bathroom toilet was dirty. The living room rug was a little dirty, but I threw a kids mat over it for my grandkids. But home was definitely beautiful overall. I still highly recommend, as this place is perfect for a big family, it’s an amazing home.

I booked this home for a family vacation with 8 adults and 4 children, and overall we had a great stay. The house was spacious, beautifully maintained, and had an excellent layout. Even with a large group, we never felt crowded. The kids especially loved the bunk room.The location was another highlight. It was conveniently close to Big Trees, Murphys, and grocery stores, while still feeling secluded enough to enjoy the peaceful forest setting.The reason we're giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to a few issues we encountered during our stay:1. The floors throughout the home were quite dirty when we arrived.2. The septic tank was overflowing, which caused a strong sewage odor near the front entrance and stairs. We contacted the property management company, and to their credit, they responded quickly. Someone arrived within about 10 minutes, and a septic company came out later that same day to address the issue.3. The kitchen cooktop felt unsafe to use. The burner knobs did not function properly, so we had to repeatedly check that the gas was fully turned off after cooking.4. One of the bedrooms had evidence of a water leak, including a hole in the ceiling and several water stains.Despite these issues, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the home's size, location, and overall comfort.

Family escape

We had a wonderful stay at The Great Eacape! The house is beautiful and super for a large group. The kitchen was well stocked, rooms were comfortable and the steam room was enjoyed by all. We hope to return soon!

We rent a property at various locations in California almost each year via VRBO for our family get away. The Great Escape property was beautiful, roomy which made it perfect for our family, so we really enjoyed our stay. I was a little nervous about the driveway, it was pretty steep, but we all made it to the property. The customer service with the property manager was great also. Thank you!
