This Miner's Cottage makes the perfect getaway home nestled on high elevation above Lake Galena in a quiet location. Just inside the entryway, you will find a half bath, kitchen with island, dining area, and large deck. A stone floor-to-ceiling fireplace is the living room's focal point which also includes high-beamed and wood-clad ceilings. The master bedroom and bath also feature wood ceilings and a private deck. The lower level consists of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, the laundry room, a comfortable family room, and it walks out to a concrete patio. As our guests you will have complete access to the “Owners Club”. There you will enjoy indoor, outdoor, and kiddie pools, a state of the art fitness center, indoor/outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, game room, free WIFI, etc. The Galena Territories offer many activities to choose from, including horseback riding, hiking, wine tours, fishing, shopping, skiing, and more. Sleeps 8. Max. Occupancy 8.

Very nice layout - each room has bathroom and there is a guest WC, 2 living rooms, multiple decks etc. Beautiful area and the host was very responsive and super friendly. We found some unfortunate cleaning issues, and she offered another rental, though that hassle wasn’t best for us. We think they just need more observant maintenance - but that’s hard if the host can’t constantly check their work (and they shouldn’t have to). About 12 min to town, 15 to ski. Great and would use again!

Very nice property that met all of our needs. Loved the area and the amenities at the owners club. We had a maintenance issue that did not get addressed during our stay, but otherwise an enjoyable weekend.

Many Maintenance Issues

Property not kept up the best. One toilet didnt work, master shower barely drained and one outdoor door didnt lock. Place was semi clean but could have been better.

You would think you’re not in Illinois. Beautiful home & location. 15 minutes from downtown Galena. Ample home. Cleanliness could’ve been worked on but we booked within a two day notice.

Beautiful home and area

The house was beautiful! Plenty of space and windows. It was great to watch the lighting during the storm! House is well stocked and clean. Host was responsive when we had a question. Plenty of room for the 6 adults we had stay. Will definitely keep this on our list to rent again.

This was a perfect place for our family weekend. Plenty of comfy beds and bathrooms for everyone. Would definately book again. Would have liked things to be a bit cleaner, but it wasnt uncomfortable.

Beautiful Spot!

We came to Galena for a girls trip and this place was beautiful and in a really relaxing spot! It worked perfect for us and I appreciated the large fan in the bedroom too! We’d definitely stay again!

Perfect Stay

The house had everything we could have needed for a small getaway with some of our family. Clean, comfortable, stocked, and nice touches like a sound system that was easy to play your own music into via bluetooth. Definitely would stay again!

Great Place

I knew from other reviews to pack extra blankets for the basement and plasticware for my kids. And I'm glad I did. My kids loved playing on the bunkbeds and climbing the stairs and playing cars on the hearth. If you have napping kids- you may want to bring black out curtains. The kitchen is tile so be sure to pack slippers to warm your feet if traveling in the cold months. The neighborhood was quiet and we enjoyed the owners club amenities. I would recommend this place as it would be great for a friend gathering as there was more wine glasses than coffee cups.

Quiet Escape

The property was as advertised. The location was quiet and perfect for our extended weekend. The fireplace worked well and we used it quite a bit. There was plenty of space for our kids to spread out and they enjoyed the games in the lower level. Each room having a bathroom was a major plus. We cooked in the home on most days and had plenty of dishes, pots, pans, etc. to do so. The basement was quite cold, but based on other reviews we came prepared with extra blankets. The view from the private balconies was great and included a group of wild turkeys running through the wooded area! We throughly enjoyed our time in the home and will be back. We go to Galena every year and this home has by far been our favorite.

Stayed for half marathon

We stayed here for half marathon in galena. Location is good. They could use more pots/pans, blankets/towels, etc. It was pretty bare bones and not enough pans to make our dinners each night. Very clean and comfortable otherwise.

Nice location!

The property is really nice and in a great private location but the cleanliness needs to better! I’m not even sure the downstairs shower was cleaned because I found someone’s leftover shampoo and body wash in there and several dark hairs in the shower as well as one on back of toilet bowl and in the sink! When we got into the bed downstairs the comforter had a brown spot on it on the white side of it and I’m just hoping it was from someone eating chocolate in the bed! Also when I went to take out a drinking glass out of kitchen cabinet I could see lip prints on it! Overall it’s a really beautiful place but again the cleaning needs to be improved!

Family Reunion Getaway

The property was just perfect for our stay. The layout worked well. The bedroom on the main floor worked well for someone unable to do stairs. Each bedroom having a bathroom was also helpful. We did clean the coffee pot with some vinegar and water mixture. It was running slow.
