The view was stunning, the house was pretty, and clean. Nothing else met or exceeded expectations. The description promises a fully equipped home with solar backup, phone, and unlimited internet. Only after you fully pay and it’s not refundable are you fully informed of the limits via email not on the site. You pay 1st world prices and get told you’re in a 3rd world when things don’t go to plan. If you need reliable amenities, don't count on them. I'm so sad and depressed after my stay. I can’t redo my vacation and it’s too precious to risk using a vrbo.
We couldn't find the phone passcode it wasn’t in the book. It was in an email I couldn't access because the internet was out. Kayleen was onsite with the AC guys else we’d had no way to reach out. The NO GUARANTEE of minutes means 0, allows only emergency calls; on day 2 we got 10 minutes added. In Cambodia the hotel provided unlimited phone/internet for free.
We needed internet or would have booked elsewhere. The Internet was cut off because the account credit card expired, not from an outage (my Columbian companion overheard them talking). Things happen; it's how you handle it. The Internet worked 2 hours out of the 6 days. The owner informed me I was in a 3rd world country. I've stayed in 10+ developing countries, had no problem and marvel at how much better, cheaper, and reliable it is to the US. In Thailand it’s $30 for giga bytes. Unlimited access for 2 weeks cost $8 in Honduras.
Anything battery operated was dead. The in-room safe batteries too corroded to work, remotes and alarm fob too, the replacement batteries also corroded. Planned maintenance should be automatically done and not by me.
The power went out 3 out of 5 nights for 9-10 hours at a time; solar only runs auxiliary lights, fridge, and fans and not much else. The description does not mention AC being unusable on solar; it reads like you will have power. You're going to be sweaty, hot, and uncomfortable. In August the rooms are 90+. The nearby hotels never lost internet, AC, or power.
After paying you’re told the snorkel gear is AS-IS it means 1 set of fins with straps, 3 with no straps, two masks with straps 3 with broken straps, 1 working snorkel two that leak. On-demand hot water means only 1 source of use at a time, or you get only cold water. 3 showers and 1 water heater is poor planning. I got 1 hot shower out of 5.
I asked to be moved, that wasn't an option. Just deliver what's promised and not amend after payment.
