Originally under Spanish and then Mexican rule, the city`s unique history, and frequent community fairs, festivals and celebrations mean there is plenty to do, no matter what time of year you visit. Located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the mild continental climate results in pleasant weather and abundant sunshine year-round.
Guests interested in local culture can shop for native arts and crafts at many of the city`s markets and galleries, while history buffs can visit the San Miguel Mission or St. Francis Cathedral.
