Quiet, comfortable
This is a lovely studio apartment above a detached garage, situated with a beautiful view of an inlet. We saw seals poking their heads out to watch us. Previous guests commented on seeing orcas in the guest book, but we weren’t so lucky.
The kitchen has an electric range, full-sized microwave, toaster and blender, along with some basic utensils and seasonings. Coffee maker is the pod type, but there are tons of places to get good coffee in the area. There is a well-stocked Safeway within a 20 minute drive that’ll have anything you will need.
Shelton is a cool town with some antique shops and places to eat (recommend Guadalajara).
The structure is at the bottom of a steep hill, but the terrain around it - the beach and surrounding area - is navigable. Entry to the studio requires walking up a flight of stairs, and the parking spot in front of the garage is on a steep incline. The stairs are lit by a string light on a timer. When it’s off, you’ll need your flashlight to safely navigate the stairs because the surrounding area is dark. The walk-in shower is dual rain/handheld, which was nice. The queen bed is very soft, as are the pillows. The pull out couch is in the main living area of the studio. You can log into your own streaming accounts on the smart tv.
I recommend bringing your own drinking water, the tap water is so full of iron it will develop a rust color when it sits out, even after filtering. Plus you can really taste the iron and smell sulphur. I kept thinking my gums were bleeding brushing my teeth.
Cell reception is iffy in the general area, so you will need wifi to communicate. Definitely make sure you have the entry code & wifi password prior to driving out there because if you don’t, you will have to drive a few miles away to message the host, and await responses, to get into the place. (ask me how I know) Overall, it was a nice stay, despite a painful first night trying to get in.
