Overall, this property is beautiful but extremely poorly managed. It's in a great location (especially for my family; our sister's house is 0.5 miles away), and we could have seen this property being a "go to" for when we all come to visit, but thanks to our disappointing experience (all the details below), we will not be returning.
My disappointment started a week before my second payment was due. I started getting messages from the owner saying that my second payment was due (it wasn't for another week). The owner was quick to respond (apparently they were automated messages), but I kept getting them! It left me thinking I was messing something up when I wasn't.
Arrival at the property was a complete disaster. We didn't get into town until late Friday night, and when we arrived, they had changed the code to the apartment, so we couldn't get in. We had to call management at 11 PM.
BUT, once we got inside, we noticed that none of the beds were made, and there were clearly crumbs and evidence of people on the sheets. It was disgusting. We had to call them back and have the cleaning service come at 11 PM!! The woman arrived and apologized, but it took over an hour for her to change all the sheets and provide us with clean towels. We were so exhausted that we asked her just to come back the next day to clean the rest of the apartment (which she did). However, that meant that the bathrooms weren't stocked with shampoo, soap, or extra toilet paper (not our job to remember to ask for these items at midnight when we're exhausted and they would have been stocked naturally during a full cleaning).
There are also multiple codes for the WiFi (which is not good) and barely any dishes for a home that sleeps 6. The one positive about this home is its close proximity to the Metro and my sister's house, and the beds were comfortable.
On top of everything else, and even after multiple messages left, the owner never responded to my husband's and my (kind) requests to chat about the situation. She ended up compensating us $50 (about 10% of what we paid for 2 nights), but without any "I'm so sorry" or response at all. All we kept being told was that she manages a lot of properties and is very busy. That shouldn't matter when you have messed up so badly. I organized this trip for my parents (their first time using VRBO) and sister/brother-in-law. None of us were happy, and we should have at least gotten an apology. Very disappointing experience.
