Fun in the Keys

The house was nice but the ac couldn’t keep it cool. It never cooled down until middle of the night and then first thing in the morning it started warming up again.

We will not return to this property!

The check in email in large bold states 3:00 p.m. and below that in smaller print says 4:00 p.m. When we arrived at 3:00 the person at the realtor said NO, wait till 4:00. While others were getting their packages. Property layout is nice but it needs updating. The AC in the downstairs bedroom was broken with a portable AC that was loud and required the window to be open for it to work. The pool had a slime around it stuck to the tile with many tiles broken. Pool deck needs cleaning/pressure washing. Dock set up is unusual and difficult to get into a boat during low tide. They use a ladder cut in two to get to the lower dock. I sent two text messages to Kitty and an email during our stay and still haven't received a response.

Wonderful Time!

We had such a great time! Relaxed spending time in the pool area. Quick 10 minute walk to Sombrero beach to swim, float, lounge & watch sunsets. Would love to return!

Casual Keys Lifestyle

This house is, as pictured, bright and inviting with plenty of space to spread out as well as areas to gather. The pool is a perfect oasis (We paid for heat in April and definitely recommend that option for swimming under the stars.). The dock is home to our iguana buddies as well as a great spot to watch herons across the canal or launch the kayaks. We really appreciated the access to free kayaks and life jackets included with this home. It's an easy paddle out to the Atlantic with mangroves and wildlife to enjoy. This home is also an easy walk to Sombrero Beach - just half a mile on wide separated sidewalks. As mentioned in another review there was construction across the canal, but we did not find it obtrusive as we enjoyed the fully screened spacious upper patio for sunrise and lunches. If you are looking for modern, pristine, new construction, this home may not fit your needs. However, if you are looking for a casual, comfortable place to just kick back and enjoy the Florida Keys lifestyle, I highly recommend this rental.

Spring Break 2022

Our family of five enjoyed 7 days in Marathon. Location is great. Sombrero Beach is close. Kids enjoyed the pool at the house. We ventured out to do many excursions on our own, which were easy drives. House had everything we needed. Overall, we had a perfect vacation.

Very happy with stay

The house was exactly as listed. We did have a problem with the pool and we called Kity and she had the pool people out within the hour. Would rent this house again.

Stress Less

The house worked perfectly for our family of 6 adults plus an infant. Spacious, plenty of room to gather and still had spots to step away for quiet time relaxing/reading. The proximity of the beach to the house was outstanding as well as shopping and other places to explore yet the way the house is situated on the canal overlooking the ocean you had no idea all that shopping was just a mile away! Thank you to Kitty for her help & to the owner for placing the house in VRBO for others to enjoy. IF we get to return to Marathon we would definitely use the house again!

The canal behind the house is literally impossible to get a boat in and out of safely.

The canal behind the home is a very shallow canal. It’s risky getting a boat in and out. We ended up renting a slip elsewhere due to the risks involved. The home is beautiful but it really needs a deep clean with the sofas and carpeting. The hot tub was creating white foam when turned on, but Kitty had the pool people address it ASAP The only other thing that I did not care for was the locks on the home itself. The homeowner really needs to invest in keyless entry for safety and ease of check in.

Week in paradise

3 couples rented this beautiful house and everything was great had one little incident and Kity the property manager took care of it very quickly. The only bad thing we found had nothing to do with the house. If you plan on renting a boat I would advise to be very careful and check with your boat rental company to see if they will rent at that location . The path you take to get into the channel is extremely shallow.

Family spring break

The home was large and fit our needs well. We loved the views and short walk to the beach. The hot tub was an added bonus! My only complaint was the dust- thick dust accumulation on windowsills and lamps.

Vacation in Marathon Florida

We had a great time, enjoyed the place. It was nice. The only complaint is the hot tub was not very clean. My granddaughter broke out in hives after being in it. Other than that. We had a great time.

Yearly Trip

We had a great time this past week! Spent most of our days out back around the pool and kayaking. Rented a pontoon boat for the day from ManicSportFishing, they were great! House was awesome for us all to be together or separate for some peace and quiet. Only recommendation I would have is to spend money and get a new grill, it would be worth it for those that like to still cook while away. Appreciate the quick response, when I sent an email regarding a couple questions. Definitely would put this house on my list to stay again.

Great House and Perfect Location

We visited the Sombrero Beach Pool Home the week of 3/14/20. The check in process while not complicated just seemed dated to me. Most places I stay through VRBO have a key code that is sent the day of arrival with no need to go to the office to get actual keys. The home is in a great location. Off the main road but close to everything. Just a short drive or bike ride to the beach, plenty of restaurants in the area, a couple of grocery stores just up the road and not far from the Dolphin Recovery Center, Aquarium, and Turtle hospital. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the beach closed on Wednesday of our visit, but we did get one day in. Thankfully there is a small pool at the house. We paid the extra to get it heated and I'm glad we did. There is a constant breeze off the ocean in the back of the house which made it seem much cooler than it was. The front of the house always seemed 20 degrees warmer! The set up was perfect for us. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 baths on the main level which is the 2nd floor. The bottom level opens up to the patio and pool area. It's like a small apartment. Another bedroom and full bath along with a living room and small kitchenette. Everything was very clean. Plenty of towels, pots, pans, etc. There was toilet paper, paper towels. I suggest you go to the house to see what is there before making a trip to the grocery store for supplies. The only issues we had were the master bed is not the most comfortable and the ceiling fan in that room is very noisy. The ceiling fan in the other bedroom is very, very slow. We never got the TV working in the 2nd bedroom. It stayed on 1 channel, but we mastered the TV in the living room and downstairs. The grill, well, I wouldn't use it without foil or putting foil pans or something on it. The grates are very rusty. We only used it to cook hot dogs one night and ended up putting them in a foil pan to cook. I didn't care much about that because we didn't plan to eat in that much anyway. The 2nd floor has a wonderful screened in porch and we spent most evenings up on the porch. The only other thing, which I guess can't be helped, but there is alot of construction going on across the canal. Some days they started as early as 7 AM. If you want to sleep in, I suggest you pack ear plugs. Some days there was no construction and other days it started later in the day. Overall, it was a great trip and I would stay at this home again.
