Hectic
I've communicated with the host weeks ahead of the booking and she was responsive. Less than 24 hrs before check-in she messaged me saying the apt i booked was not available as the place got triple-booked. She offered a different apartment in the same building. I had to agree as there was no way to find anything else at the last moment.
The replacement apt was much smaller and without a view - not quite worthy of the price, even considering a small discount offered to compensate for the trouble. The apt was in a great neighborhood, in the heart of the city, cute, comfortable, clean, and original art decor added a unique touch. There is little sound insulation, we could hear voices and steps in the hallway as if they were inside the apt.
I got charged the full original price. Moreover, a VERY substantial "security deposit", withdrawn from my card since the time of booking, had not returned when i checked 2 weeks after the trip. So I messaged the host and 2 hours later got the discount applied and the deposit returned.
So it all worked out OK at the end but I would not rent from this host again.
