July 2019Casa Magica in Akumal, Mexico was where our family of 12 (6 adults and 6 children) vacationed this year. The house was perfect for all of our needs. The rooms are large, open, and welcoming, and each has its own bathroom. The home is beautifully decorated and yet homey. The kitchen is fully equipped, can accommodate multiple people, and has beautiful large windows. The house also has air conditioning. A must in the summer. We hired chef Emilio Talacon, and his sous chef Esteban. They prepared beautiful breakfasts and dinners that were delicious and aesthetically pleasing. They were flexible to accommodate our time frame, and offered a wide selection of meals to prepare. The temperatures were hot and humid so we made good use of the pool. During our stay the sargassum seaweed invaded our beach access, but Marco, our house manager, had a couple of university students clear the path for easy kayak access to the sea. And although the smell was pungent, it never took away from the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, or the excellent snorkeling along the reef. Our housekeeper Reyna, and Marcos took care of our every need, answering questions about the area, as well as providing meal service on several occasions. We hired Ruby for wonderful massages under the outdoor thatched roof patio. This was a very relaxing experience. Antonio, our night time security, was friendly, helpful, and eliminated any need for worry. We visited Tulum ruins and had a great lunch at Farm to Table in Tulum, Muyil selva/ruins and Kaan Luum lagoon, Yal-Ku in Akumal, Chichen Itza and lunch in Valladolid. We also visited the underground caves and cenotes of Dos Ojos. Every place was a great experience! This was a fabulous vacation to remember!
