***IMPORTANT***
Please be advised that this home is located on a rural road on an elevated property. All guests must have 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicles are required to access the home, especially in the winter and during rough weather conditions. We are not responsible for vehicles getting stuck or having issues accessing the property. Thanks for your understanding!
During Summer - It is uncommon for mountain homes to have AC. The home does not have AC but has various windows that can be opened with ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living areas.
During Winter - Winter snowfall can vary during the winter months. For guests staying from late October through late April, AN AWD OR 4WD VEHICLE IS REQUIRED. Most winter storms will provide about 5" of snow at one time. Our driveway is steep and can be problematic for cars not properly equipped to handle snow. The neighborhood roads and driveway are regularly plowed as needed during the winter months.
During icy, wet, or slippery weather conditions, please use extra caution when walking on the exterior stairs, patio deck, and on walkways. We are not responsible for any injuries or accidents resulting from slips or falls on the property. However, we will do our best to keep the driveway, stairs, and home entrances cleared and safe for all of our guests.
Perched on a quiet hilltop surrounded by twenty acres of evergreens, this three-story log chalet offers a serene mountain escape with sweeping views of the Rockies. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interior with natural light, while rustic knotty pine walls and a wood-burning fireplace create a warm, lodge-style atmosphere that feels both inviting and secluded. Whether you’re sipping coffee in the sunroom at dawn, watching alpenglow spread across the peaks, or settling in by the fire after a day on the slopes, every corner of this home is designed to immerse you in Colorado’s high-country beauty.
Space and layout
Spanning approximately 2,500 square feet, the cabin offers plenty of space for families or groups traveling together. The main level opens with a bright sunroom - the perfect nook for reading or morning coffee - leading into a spacious living room with a plush sectional, 65-inch smart TV, and crackling fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, espresso machine, dishwasher, and ample dining space with seating for up to eleven between the table and breakfast bar. It’s a comfortable setting for preparing everything from hearty post-hike dinners to relaxed breakfasts before heading out to explore.
Sleeping arrangements
The cabin accommodates up to 13 guests across four thoughtfully arranged bedrooms. On the main floor, two king bedrooms share a full bath with a tub-shower combo. Upstairs, the loft suite boasts a king bed, an additional twin, a private ensuite bath, and a 60-inch smart TV. Vaulted ceilings and wood beams frame views of the surrounding peaks, and a dedicated workspace with a monitor and banker’s lamp makes it easy to stay connected. On the lower level, the bunk room includes twin-over-twin and twin-over-queen bunks, ideal for kids or friends, with a third full bath located nearby.
Outdoor living
Step outside onto the expansive log deck to take in crisp mountain air and unspoiled views. A gas grill and picnic table make al fresco dining a memorable part of the stay from May through October, while evenings bring the chance to spot wildlife or stargaze beneath Colorado’s famously clear skies. Please note that outdoor fires are prohibited by Park County regulations, so the fire pit is not available for use, though the deck remains a year-round highlight for soaking in the scenery.
Amenities and extras
The home is stocked with thoughtful details to ensure a worry-free stay, including a washer and dryer, high-speed Starlink WiFi, and a one-car garage with additional covered parking. Bathrooms are supplied with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and fresh linens, while the kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, and cooking basics. For peace of mind, you’ll find security cameras, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, a fire extinguisher, and a first aid kit. The property is pet-friendly, so furry companions are welcome to enjoy the adventure as well.
Location and activities
Just nine minutes from the historic mining town of Fairplay and about forty minutes from Breckenridge, the chalet places you close to both quiet small-town charm and world-class ski slopes. Nearby trails like Reinecker Ridge and Sheep Mountain invite summer hiking, while fishing, cycling, and hot springs are all within easy reach. In winter, head to Breckenridge, Keystone, or Copper for skiing and snowboarding before returning to relax by the fire or enjoy a quiet evening in the loft.
This cabin balances rustic mountain charm with modern conveniences, making it an inviting base for outdoor adventure, family gatherings, or simply reconnecting with nature in a private alpine setting.
