- Get away from it all at this quiet woodland cottage perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, but with all the comforts of home. Perfect for families, birdwatchers, romantics, writers and artists. Feel like you're away from it all while never being far from lively town centers.
- Unwind in the clawfoot bathtub or perch from the swing on the top floor balcony overlooking the woods
- Experience all the conveniences of a fully stocked and renovated kitchen
- A 10 minute drive to both downtown Gloucester and the center of Essex Village
- Just 2 miles from gorgeous Wingaersheek beach in Gloucester, a half an hour stroll to Front beach at Conomo Point in Essex, and steps from hiking and biking trails.

*For families/children we do provide a Yogibo (large beanbag) as another sleeping surface as well as an air mattress for the lower level living room so there is plenty of space for all!

*Rental Agreement is required to be signed after reservation has been confirmed. Failure to comply will result in the cancellation of reservation.

*Damage Protection included - we have included a $28 charge in your total quote that covers your purchase of $1500 of "all risk" damage protection coverage on the rental property. This protection is purchased in lieu of a cash damage deposit. Coverage details are spelled out in the rental agreement.

Perfect fit

The Birdhouse is comfortable, casual, no muss, no fuss. Lovely communicative host. Clean, delightful and lovely location for our 3 senior ladies friend reunion. We all agreed the beds were very comfortable, fresh nice linens and towels. Enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and abundant birdsong. Loved the vibe here! Really nice, quiet neighborhood.

Fantastic Little Bungalow!

We absolutely loved our stay at The Birdhouse! It’s the perfect cozy escape—thoughtfully decorated, peaceful, and nestled in such a charming spot in Essex. Waking up to the sounds of birds surrounded by trees felt like a dream. The space was spotless and had everything we needed, with sweet personal touches that made it feel extra special. It was a perfect home base for exploring nearby Gloucester and Salem, and we loved coming back to this little haven at the end of each day. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the North Shore in comfort and style!

Salem Getaway

This was a perfect place to stay outside of Salem and Rockport! This was a cozy place to stay during our trip. The host was more than gracious and communicative during our stay. I highly recommend staying here!

Peaceful Gateway

We spent a lovely wintertime weekend in the birdhouse. Location was great: within walking distance from Conomo Beach and 15 min drive to Gloucester’s center. The house is very comfortable with everything we needed (though we didn’t cook). Check-in and check-out were very simple and the host super responsive. We already plan to come back.

The birdhouse was a very nice, relaxing home in the woods.

Very nice property, quiet area in the woods. We enjoyed the space, and were able to relax. Very close to nice restaurants and shops. The beds were very comfortable.

Perfect Getaway

Very cute house that's close in proximity to major landmarks in MA. I loved being able to sit out on the deck in the morning before starting my day. The host is responsive and attentive, definitely would book again!

Cape Ann for a wedding

Great location handy to all of Essex, Gloucester and Rockport. Very tidy and interesting with a bird theme. Quiet and comfortable. Made visit very enjoyable.

Perfect for our visit to Gloucester!

Beautiful place. It was perfect for my family’s stay in Gloucester. It was very well kept and had everything we needed. Rachel was very good at answering questions if we needed anything during our stay. I would definitely stay here again if ever back in Gloucester with my family. I highly recommend this property.

Perfect Getaway

Highly recommend staying here. It was the perfect little retreat. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The owner has information related to the surrounding area available, which came in handy. It was easy to get to and from Salem. I plan to stay at this property the next time we travel through this area.

Charming Cottage Retreat

Completely enjoyed our stay at this property. The house is a pleasing rustic-vintage-modern blend that is clean, comfortable, and charming. We liked the quiet wooded surroundings as well as the easy accessibility to restaurants, shops, and attractions. The host was responsive to questions and quick to follow up. Amazing property!

Absolutely gorgeous property! We came to the area to visit Salem and this house was the perfect oasis after a busy day. Super clean, with extra amenities that we weren’t expecting! Rachel was very responsive to our questions before and during our stay. 5 stars all around!

Lovely cottage surrounded by trees

We really enjoyed our long weekend after Thanksgiving in this lovely cottage, surrounded by trees. Really nicely decorated, spotless, and very warm and cozy. We took wonderful walks at beautiful nearby beaches and explored the surrounding towns of Cape Ann. The host gave us lots of helpful suggestions for nearby restaurants, bakeries, and walks. We would definitely come again!

The property is so beautiful and super serene.. there weren't chairs by the fire pit sadly and the tv lags maybe cause of Internet idk so we were trying to watch the Yankees game and couldn't and had to on our phones. Id still love to visit in the summer and go to the ocean and stuff.

Adorable property

Absolutely loved our stay here. The house is cozy but provides ample nooks for separation and privacy when desired. My sister and two teenaged nephews stayed with us for a few days and even with five people we had plenty of space. The house is beautifully decorated with a bird motif. The firepit was perfect for making s'mores. We enjoyed seeing wildlife (wild turkeys!) and were treated with seeing some horses passing by one morning. From here you have easy access to Hammond Castle, Castle Hill at Crane Beach, and shopping and dining in the delightful waterfront town of Gloucester. I also recommend a quick day-trip to Salem. I had one question during our stay and got an immediate response from the hosts. I would definitely stay here again.
