Underwhelmed
Upon entering Rhode Island around 3:30 (check in was open at 3pm). I went to retrieve the email that said “Here are the keys to your rental” figuring that I would get a code for a lockbox. Nope. Frantically, I email the property manager to find out that I had to drive another 20 minutes to pick up the keys. Apparently, I was suppose to have gotten emails from the property manager explaining the check in process but I did not. They said there must have been a glitch. With keys in hand, I finally got back to the rental and the keys do not work. Call the property manager again only to find out that there IS a lockbox with a key. Sigh. Got into the house and immediately was slammed in the face with dank, wet smell of mold. The whole place smelled so vile. I alerted the property managers who did reply and submitted a work order. Their subcontracted maintenance person came and downplayed the whole thing saying it was because the air conditioning hadn’t been on for a few days. He offered to clean the visible black mold with bleach and water. I declined, realizing that this was the situation I was stuck with since all $1550 had already been paid. The mold smell made sense when there was torrential rain about three days into our stay. The whole rock/grass driveway and front yard were flooded like a small pond. There is no drainage.
This property is unhealthy for anyone to stay in, especially if you have had previous mold exposure or have breathing issues.
