Cathy's Cove on Lake Superior is a recently redecorated, private North Shore Retreat on an idyllic section of Lake Superior Shoreline near Tofte, Minnesota. The cabin sits on 425 feet of ledge rock shoreline and is directly on the Gitchi Gami Bike Trail. You will love the small seasonal waterfall that drops 30-40 feet into the cove below, which is visible from the cabin's deck.

This cozy little one bedroom, one bathroom, one-story cabin sits on 3 acres providing a peaceful, serene getaway on Lake Superior's North Shore. On the western side of the property, you will find a staircase leading to the ledge rock "peninsula" down to a private, seasonal waterfall. This is a shoreline that is truly unique to Cathy's Cove.

Perfect Location

Loved the privacy and special cove. Due to recent rains, we were able to enjoy the waterfall. The location related to hiking trails was excellent. We plan to stay here again.

View from the deck and from inside looking out at the lake was awesome! Very private! WiFi worked flawlessly! Hiked down to the waterline a few times and enjoyed that tremendously. Inside & outside needs a little TLC.

Spectacular view, great location and very cozy. We enjoyed the cove, listening to the waves of Lake Superior. Easy trips to state parks, Grand Marais and Ganada.

The cove makes it exceptional

The cabin itself is just fine, but if you're getting a cabin on the North Shore to me it's for what you have outside that matters the most and this place is wonderful for that. The cabin's private cove is simply amazing. Can a place be breathtaking and zen at the same time? The deck is great, the steps down the the cove are well-maintained, the cove is perfect. On a beautiful summer day this place is an 11.

This place was so small that if you had 4 people they would be constantly bumping into each other. The carpet looked stained and so did the kitchen floor. There were no notices to say where the DVD's were kept and you could not get regular tv and no notices where the games were kept. The actual property area was incredibly small. WAY OVERPRICED for what you get.

Perfect place for peace and quiet

You get an entire cove to yourself. Its very private and secluded. The only sounds you'll hear is the sound of waves and birds chirping.

Cathy's Cove was amazing!

We loved our stay at Cathy's Cove. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We didn't expect to have our own private cove and waterfall. and were so excited to realize this. The views from the large deck are beautiful! We'll be back.

Stayed at Cathy’s Cover for a week for our wedding anniversary with our dog. We loved the private cove, deck overlooking the water, and close proximity to some great hikes. Felt secluded but was close to a winery and Grand Marais was only 30 minutes away. Kitchen is stocked with everything you need for making simple meals (but bring matches if you plan to use the charcoal grill). The place is a little shabby and the couch in the living room is uncomfortable to sit on for more than a few minutes. Replacing the throw rugs by the front door would be a quick, easy way to make it feel a little less humble. Overall, would definitely recommend if looking for a relaxing, private stay on the North Shore with all the basics, and don’t need a lot of luxury.

Everything you can ask for.

We enjoyed our stay at Cathy's Cove. The weather didn't cooperate with us getting to spend much time on the wonderful deck, but still had a wonderful view from inside too. Bed was comfortable, check-in easy. Nice place. Bring coffee if you drink it, it's not furnished. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

It would be so BEAUTIFUL in sunny weather!

We stayed at Cathy’s Cove for three nights. It was comfortable, and snug in the chilly, rainy weather. We will be back so we can experience the private little cove with our private fire on the beach! Because of all the recent rain, the waterfall was very active, which is a soothing sound and pretty sight even when it’s raining.

This was a winter stay, and we were disappointed with our stay overall. The cabin was significantly smaller than the photos suggested. While the listing noted privacy and three acres of property, most of that acreage is on the steep cliff down to the lake and not usable. There are also neighbors within about 200 feet, so it did not feel particularly secluded.Although the property is dog-friendly, there was very limited space to walk a dog in the winter. The steps to the lake were completely inaccessible due to a five-foot snowbank created by plowing, so we were unable to access the water at all.The biggest issue, however, was the road access. At the top of the hill leading to the highway, there was about 20 feet of solid glare ice. Without all-wheel drive, getting out safely was extremely difficult. We ultimately chose not to return for the second night because we did not feel confident we could leave safely again.We attempted to contact the owner through VRBO as well as Cascade Vacation Rentals via electronic message and voicemail but did not receive any response from either.Unfortunately, due to the size discrepancy, limited usable property, winter accessibility issues, and lack of communication, this stay did not meet our expectations.

Beautiful view, relaxing stay

This home was exactly what we hoped for. A beautiful view relaxing on the deck listening to the water and the birds. It was stocked with all the supplies we needed to cook and live for a week. We brought in our own seasonings and food. The location was perfect. Close to hiking, and the little shops when we needed groceries. This home was comfortable to stay in and we enjoyed the puzzles when we were back in the evenings.
