Seagull Studio Vacation Suite is a beautifully designed, private one-bedroom retreat where luxury meets nature’s embrace in the heart of Sooke, BC. Just moments from the ocean and the tranquil pathways of Whiffin Spit, the suite offers guests a serene escape surrounded by coastal beauty. Inside, you’ll find thoughtful touches at every turn, from plush 680-thread-count Pima cotton bedding and thick spa-style towels to custom bathrobes, a fully stocked kitchen, and a cozy living room perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Step onto your private patio to enjoy the BBQ, firepit, or simply breathe in the fresh West Coast air. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway, a quiet place to rest, or a home base for outdoor adventures, Seagull Studio welcomes you with comfort, elegance, and the warm hospitality that keeps guests returning again and again./p>
In the studio, is a one-bedroom queen-size bed with 2-night tables plus an armoire to hang your clothing. The bed sheets are 100% Pima cotton with a 680 thread count and are simply delicious to snuggle into at night. Complimentary Bath Robes hang in the closet at the top of the stairs for you to enjoy.
There are 4 kitchen chairs and the kitchen table seats 4 comfortably. The kitchen has plenty of counter space so meal preparation is a breeze. Under the kitchen sink is our compost bin, so please use this wisely. At the top of the stairs in the main closet, we have our recycle bins and additional kitchen appliances.
The living room area offers two wingback chairs beside the fireplace where you can listen to music on Stingray TV or watch your favourite TV show. We also provide a comfy daybed perfect for lounging and reading or for an extra person in the suite. A large desk with a working lamp and free WiFi connections makes working away from home easy and fun.
The spa-like shower has a 10" x 10" rain-head shower and a separate handheld shower wand for extra pampering. The Luxury Brand towels are wonderfully thick with an 804 GSM for extra comfort. There is plenty of storage space to house all your toiletries in the washroom which has excellent lighting for all your grooming needs. Just outside the washroom is a linen closet with extra pillows, towels, blankets plus beach towels for the beach. Straw Sun hats are hanging on the foyer hooks which you are welcome to borrow.
Parking is available on-site on the circular driveway in front of the * large garden planter pot * with the sign "Guest Parking".
We also provide 2 NORCO Pinnacle bikes + helmets + locks for you to enjoy.
To get around Sooke and plan your time here we have created a *Seagull Studio Digital Guide Book* that is full of useful information. Just download the link onto your phone and you are good to go!
We designed our 'Forever Home' in 2019 and began construction in a global pandemic. Delays were constant, adjustments had to be made and when we took possession in April of 2021, the list of things to do was endless. However, we finally completed our beautiful private patio where you can BBQ while dining al fresco under our fabulous gazebo. After dinner, you might enjoy an evening relaxing by the fire pit or enjoy a bike ride ( complimentary bikes provided ) while exploring our lovely community.

Seagull Studio didn’t begin as a business idea; it began as a dream that John and I carried with us for years. When we found our little vacant lot near Whiffin Spit, we knew instantly that this was where our next chapter would unfold. We could see past the empty space and imagine the life we would build here, a home filled with warmth, nature, and the soft sounds of the ocean.
When construction started, it truly became our labour of love. Every decision, big or small, was made together. And because we actually lived in what is now the guest suite for five months while the house was being built, we learned exactly how it felt to be in that space. We discovered how the natural light moved through the rooms, where a cozy throw should sit, and how a guest should feel the moment they walk in. Those months shaped everything we created.
It’s a little haven that we poured our hearts into. We wanted our guests to feel like they’ve stepped into their own private retreat… a place where they can put their feet up, breathe deeply, and just be.
Every detail you see has a story behind it:
the 680-thread-count Pima cotton sheets, the plush towels, the chocolates on the pillows, the new forest wallpaper in the entryway, all chosen to make your stay feel thoughtful, luxurious, and cared for. Even the garden is an ongoing passion project for John, who adds something beautiful every season.
And of course, nature does its part too. From the deer wandering past the windows to the distant call of sea lions, the magic of Sooke surrounds us every day.
We built Seagull Studio because we wanted to share a piece of the peaceful, coastal life we love so much. It means the world to us when guests arrive and instantly feel at home. I chose the neighbourhood of Whiffin Spit because the first time I walked along that long, windswept path, I felt an immediate sense of calm. This little corner of Sooke is wrapped in ocean on both sides, filled with seabirds and sea breezes, and blessed with a gentle, peaceful rhythm you can feel the moment you arrive.
One of the things I love most is how wonderfully flat it is, perfect for easy, relaxing walks where you can simply wander, breathe, and let the beauty of the coastline unfold at your own pace.
John and I knew right away that this was where we wanted to build our dream home and, eventually, Seagull Studio. It offered everything we were searching for: ocean views, wildlife at every turn, a welcoming community, and a landscape that encourages you to slow down and enjoy the moment.
