Charming and comfy

Just a short stroll to the beach, nestled under a live oak, this charmingly renovated house was perfect for our vacation. It was clean, had a great kitchen with new appliances, and a soft soothing decor.

Great House, Great Location

The house was perfectly laid out for our two small families and mother-in-law. The kitchen was beautiful and amply supplied, and the bonus room was great for the kids to hang out in during the morning while the adults slept in. Host was very responsive.

Weekend with my daughters

A lovely house within walking distance to the beach and some great restaurants on the island. Having the fireplace was perfect for what turned out to be a cold, rainy weekend on SSI.

Home away from home

This is our 3rd stay here and won’t be our last. We love it here. We have 4 little boys and the house is perfect with the bunk beds and open spaces.

As advertised. Clean. Close to the beach. Close to restaurants and town. Easy check in/out process. Responsive host. Only thing better would be an outside shower.

Very relaxing girls trip

We have nothing but good things to say about this property. The location was perfect, you can literally walk to beach access across the street. The house is so cute and was so comfortable! The porch and the sun room were perfect for our morning coffee. The check in and out instructions were so clear, we had no issues. We had the best experience!

Our Favorite Place on SSI

Even though weather threatened our trip, we had a great time on SSI. This cottage is the perfect place on the island. Well situated with access to the beach, village, etc. The owners are fantastic. We won't stay anywhere else when we come to the island.

Charming Beach Cottage

This quaint beach cottage is perfect in every way! It is charming, comfortable, and in the perfect location. It is a quick walk to the beach and great restaurants and a short golf cart ride to the village. Jennifer was easy to work with and made the process easy! I would definitely recommend staying at this property!

This was the perfect house for our visit! Beautifully decorated, spotless and convenient. My girls (3 and 4) loved the children's bedroom, great place for a family with young children. Quite possibly the most charming cottage on St. Simons! We hope to stay here again on future visits!

Clean and Comfortable

This is our second stay at the property and it was even better than we remembered. Vintage SSI vibes with modern conveniences. We enjoyed the charcoal grill on the new back patio area. Convenient to public beach access. Front porch swing is a favorite spot to sip morning coffee.

Great House

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location, walked to restaurants (great food), and to the beach. House was very comfortable and nicely furnished. My granddaughters loved the bunk bed room. We also had my 95 year old aunt with us and she enjoyed having cable tv instead of streaming other networks. Will definitely plan for a return stay.

Utterly charming!

We stayed at Making Memories cottage last year on a visit to SSI to see my grandmother. We have two small children and the cottage was perfect for us! It is beautifully updated, well appointed, and in a fantastic location. Thanks for making our vacation so special. We hope to be back in a few months.

The title tells it all. I would re-book this place in a heartbeat if the owner would replace the mattresses in the queen beds.

Delightful roomy house with cottage charm

This home is as delightful as the photos suggest with a layout which maximizes light, space & function. Set back from the road on a corner lot with lots of parking, it has great shade trees. It's decor evokes seaside charm, with original windows, gleaming wooden floors, comfy beds & an open renovated kitchen. Everything is well maintained, organized & clean. And timely assistance is available with just a phone call. We enjoyed seafood in local eateries, trips to Little St Simons & Jeckyll islands & a day in picturesque Savannah. The local trolley tour provides a good general orientation to St Simons. For Northerners in winter, it is a tonic- our week went too fast!! Sherry & Paul Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Precious vintage cottage close and walkable to restaurants, sightseeing. Comfortable, kitchen looked recently updated. Front porch a definite plus. Questions were always answered by the owner. After a day of walking , driving etc. I was ready for a comfortable hot shower but water as at best was only warm. Called about the water thinking water heater was broken and was told temperature was kept low so no one would be”scalded.” The owner was “sorry “ it was kept low but did not come and check or adjust. Water was warm enough to get in and out quickly but I’m a good comfortable shower person! So was my guest. Carpet in back bedroom needs cleaning but hardwood floors and rugs were attractive. I loved this cottage but give me a comfortable shower or bath at the end of a busy day and you will be my 5!

Cottage with Character and Charm

This house is adorable. It fit 6 people easily. The bunk room is fantastic for 4 kids with plenty of room for more on the floor or 4 girls clothes!! 5 minute easy walk to the beach, however you do have to cross the "main road" which gets a little crazy in the afternoon, but completely safe and easy to do on using the crosswalk with a light. Bike rental, a couple shops, tiny market, liquor store and restaurants are right there. The Pier and village are a short bike ride or longer walk away, but it is on the same road and safe. Good size driveway if you have more than 1 car or worry about it being right on the street. The extra little game/ tv room was great for morning coffee or for the kids to crash at night. Full kitchen. Does not have a pool but the public access you walk on the beach at is next to the King & Prince and they were not strictly enforcing who went in, so a dip in the pool, use of the bathroom and purchase of a fruity drink were accessible. Beach chair, umbrella, paddle boards and beach bikes are right there at the public access too. Owners were very responsive to questions and easy to work with. Loved the character this cottage had!

Excellent Location

We have always loved coming to St. Simons to visit family and have dreamed of owning a home here. In the spring 2010 we stumbled upon a little cottage that needed help. After months of renovations and collecting furniture we moved in! It has become a retreat from our crazy everyday lives. Jim's Grandmother, Nannie, used to look around at a family gathering and say, 'Look, we're making memories.' We hope to spend many happy years 'Making Memories' here. We hope to to share it with others as well.

We have always loved the simplicity of this sweet island, the ablity to walk to the beach, ride bikes, eat wonderful seafood and just hang out.

Our little cottage is for a group that wants to spend time together. Unlike many of the larger homes on the island the Making Memories cottage has smaller cozy, yet open spaces. The oversized island and comfortable barstools allow everyone to help or just hang out in the kitchen. The open living area with it's Smart TV and lots of seating is perfect for movie watching and great conversation. A short stroll to many restaurants and the village also makes the cottage a great place to enjoy St. Simons Island.
