Our group of 8 was disappointed with this stay. The property did not match its listing or amount charged in several ways, most importantly cleanliness and sleep conditions.The house was not clean when we arrived. We sent photos to the host but no cleaning or follow-up took place, and we stayed in those conditions for the whole trip. The host offered a 10% refund, which did not reflect the difference between what was advertised and what we received. It was basically the cleaning fee refunded.The home is in a city with a lot of outdoor lighting at night. The windows had plastic mini blinds that didn't cover the full window and let in most of the light. One bedroom, next to the kitchen, had only a sheer drape. When we raised this, we were told that a proper blind would be a "special accommodation." Adequate window coverings should be standard, and it affected how well our group slept.The home was not stocked for its stated capacity. The kitchen had five wine glasses, exactly 13 plates, and a four-cup coffee maker. The beds had no pillowcases on when we arrived, and most bathrooms had only a partly used roll of toilet paper. The host brought some kitchen supplies when we asked, but we were told prior guests were to blame for missing items. Jean seemed annoyed with issues and complaints.The property has potential, and with a thorough turnover clean, proper window coverings, and stocking suited to larger groups, it could work well. Based on our stay, we can't recommend it.

Thank you for your feedback. I do want to clarify a few details for future guests, as this review does not fully reflect the steps taken to address your concerns during your stay. When you contacted me regarding cleanliness, one photo was provided showing the top of a garbage can, along with concerns about a few dishes and the coffee pot. I came to the property personally, and your group informed me that you had already cleaned the items in question. I nevertheless notified my cleaning team and offered to have someone return to the property, which your group declined because you did not want anyone entering the home during your stay. I then asked what I could do to make the situation right, and your group requested a discount. Because your concerns centered around cleanliness, I refunded the full cleaning fee. You also mentioned needing additional household and kitchen supplies. I immediately purchased the requested items and personally brought them to the property. All concerns communicated to me were addressed within approximately 14 hours of check-in. Following that, I checked in each morning to ask if anything else was needed but received no responses. Regarding the window coverings, the home is accurately represented in the listing photos, including the existing window treatments. While I’m disappointed your group did not enjoy the stay, I’m comfortable knowing that I was responsive, available, and made substantial efforts to resolve every concern brought to my attention

Convenient location and friendly host

Near the train station, and walkable to a few local coffee shops and eateries. My family group (including 2 kids under the age of 2) we're very comfortable here. The number of bathrooms was so helpful!! The host was very communicative and easy to reach via VRBO messages.

The house is very big and clean. The AC thermostat must be check because every morning the house gets very hot. All the chairs of the dinning table are loose.The rest was excellent.

Nice property, easy entry instructions and instructions for upkeep (garbage etc).. Was impressed by the size of the building as it does not appear so large from the outside. The 8 minute drive to McCormick place was extremely nice and made this home an obvious pick..Look up Bronzeville before booking, although we had no problem with the location.

This was a perfect family getaway experience. The house was as described and the bathrooms a-plenty. Our group was mainly adults and no one was cramped for space. I most appreciated the main floor bedroom for my elderly mother to stay, (no trip hazards to navigate), A major blessing and another serious plus to your place was the easy access to the EL. We were able to get to all our events without dealing with Chicago traffic or insane parking! Thank you so very, very, much for making our 25th anniversary a truly memorable occasion!!!

Very nice property inside- clean and comfortable. Accurate listing pictures. However, the neighborhood was unsafe- was warned by Uber drivers not to go out alone or in the evening. Not knowing Chicago, this was very unfortunate to find out after the fact. We also had to reach out to the host to get the access code instead of receiving it prior to check-in.

Best 21st birthday ever

To say we enjoyed our stay, is an understatement. My sister was able you bring in her 21st birthday properly along with her close friends. It was so spacious, everyone had their own area to hang out. The master bedroom is gorgeous, a real selling point. My only regret is that it is winter && we were unable to enjoy the backyard. Our host was amazing and very helpful during the whole process, any question was promptly answered. If you’re looking for a nice place in a quiet area, don’t hesitate to book your stay. I promise you won’t regret it.

Great Bachelorette Getaway

Myself and 11 other women stayed here for my Bachelorette trip! Jean was very responsive and check in was easy to find. There is a garage in the back that easily fit two cars in it since we had to take atleast two cars for the amount of people we had. The place is four levels- a finished basement, main level and two upper levels so we had plenty of space! The place was also very clean! It originally was really hot and not cooling down but Jean was very responsive to this issue and we got it all figured out! Location wasn’t bad it was pretty much right in the middle of all the things we planned on doing! There is a cute patio set also in the fenced in yard! Overall we had a great stay, everyone was able to sleep in a bed so it definitely sleeps as many as it claims. Would definitely recommend this place or stay here again!

Great place to stay near McCormick

We had a group of 8 that was attending a basketball tournament at McCormick Place. The house is an easy 10 minute drive from McCormick, and it was much more comfortable than staying in a hotel. The house is very large and spacious. We could have had a bigger group and still would have had plenty of room. The neighborhood was quiet. The beds were decent. They had everything we needed in the kitchen, and they even provided small soaps and toiletries in all the bathrooms, which was a nice surprise. Having two washers and dryers was also so convenient and a huge plus. The only thing I marked down for was cleanliness. There were crumbs on the kitchen floor and moldy coffee grounds in the coffee maker when we arrived. There was also hair in all the showers/tubs. I would still stay here again, though, and would recommend the house to anyone staying in this area looking for a spacious accommodation for a large family or multiple families.

Awsome House

This House was amazing, very spacious and comfortable. Each one of my friends had their on bathroom and bedroom which made everything so convenient. When we walked in all you could smell was cleaning products showing that the house had been freshly cleaned. Each room had a comfotable bed. And each bathroom was a nice size. All the TV's had great pictures and were not cheap name brands. The only problem was a couple of my friends had to kill some spiders when we first got there but thats typical in a house to find. The location was exactly like she stated very close to downtown so it made it very easy and cheap to uber. Also the house looks just like the pictures. Overall we enjoyed our stay and Jean was very responsive to everyone of my question. Thank and would truly recommend if you want to stay close to downtown for a reasonable price and you have a big family this is a place to consider.

First negative review I’ve had to write

Positive: Host is responsive. Child friendly. The main issue was the ADT system and smoke detectors. The system started chirping (through all 3 levels) every minute. We messaged and she said that another guest tampered with the system. then she told me that the power went out and that’s why it was faulty. then she blamed it on ADT. She tried to troubleshoot but That didn’t work, so she came over to turn off the chirping alarms. The next day, the system began chirping throughout the whole house again, this time louder and more frequent than the day before. Again, she tried to help me troubleshoot, this time blaming it on low batteries. That didn’t work, so she came. This time instead of being friendly and apologetic she didn’t say anything to us upon entering. She said nothing to us when she left, even though we thanked her. She acted put out. Other issues: many window treatments missing blinds, or curtains, or both, disposal broken, leaky toilet, mold in master shower, stingy with towels and pillows (only one per person, low or no extra) no k cups, low dish soap which she told me to go buy my own (youd think for 2,000 she could provide), water filter needed replacing, no shower curtain for standing shower, double bed only foam/ wasn’t supported by frame so it sags in middle, no trash bags in small trash cans, floors were dirty when arrived (socks black after 1 hour), she had smart thermostat set to 79 degrees at night. Guests should have control over temp. during stay

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I apologize for the smoke detector malfunction, that was a major disappointment to me as well. After coming to check on it twice with you all, it has been fixed. My lack of conversation at the time of visiting was due to the time of night and me wanting to cause as little intrusion as possible so that you could get back to enjoying your stay. I’m an extremely pleasant and hospitable person who goes above and beyond for my guests, hence the case of craft beer that I brought you and your guests as an apology gesture. After your stay, I checked the garbage disposal and someone got a beer bottle cap stuck in the blades. It has been removed and now works perfectly. I get my home deep cleaned and sanitized after each stay, I've never had any complaints of cleanliness, I wish I would've known there was an issue while you were there as I would've had the cleaning crew come back. As you know, I am super responsive to any issues occurring in the home. Again, my apologies that your stay was less than perfect. All of my reviews on other booking sites are 4 and 5 stars. Everyone loves it here! I'm disappointed in your view of your stay, however I will take your feedback as constructive criticism and make sure no one else ever feels this way.
