Host didn’t communicate anything whatsoever

I booked a week before I needed the place. I was unable to get any form of response from this host, and the phone number was disconnected. Beware of that when dealing with this host, as something might happen when they’re just dropping off the face of earth. This situation canceled the day I was supposed to check in, and cost me $150 extra as I took my money to a competitor.

Poorly Cleaned VRBO Stay Awau

I will say that the building was nice to look at but that’s the length of nice things I have to say unfortunately. I had to reach out hours before arriving to request the address and instructions for entering and that made me a little hesitant because I feel like this information should have been given after confirming the booking. Upon arriving we were told that the code to enter would work. We had to buzz the door several times before being let in. Upon entering the place was not cozy and looked to be lived in. The frig was not cleaned, the stove was dirty, there was hair everywhere! On the floor, toilet, in the towels, shower, hanging from the door. There was someone’s shoes in the closet and the sheets look like someone had laid there and quickly made the bed in addition to the sheets not being clean. You aren’t able to adjust the ac. The property manager was semi responsive until we asked for a refund because we decided to not stay due to the questionable cleanliness of the place. Have requested a refund and it’s been 2 days and still no response. Highly unrecommended Wed stay again and this put a damper on our little mini vacation.

Didn't even get in the door - BIG NO

Awful experience. The owner didn't reply to any communication before the actual check-in time, and therefore I had to just go straight to my event. It was after 10:30 pm when I needed to access my rental. The parking was NOT a dedicated lot but on-street parking, so I had to walk around a very long block in the dark. And then the access code (finally) provided to me was actually calling the apartment to unlock the door!!! That's not an access code! I was standing outside the building alone, in downtown DC late at night, and the owner didn't even buzz me in! At this point, I didn't WANT to get in - having to meet a stranger in what is supposed to be a private space was NOT OKAY for me. I ended up having to drive 4+ hours home in the middle of the night. None of those arrangements were indicated in the listing, and the lack of communication AT ALL before I was supposed to have access to the rental meant I wasn't able to make these decisions at a reasonable time. STRONGLY recommend staying AWAY from this listing.
