Overall I do not recommend staying here. The listing disclosed some issues and the owner was responsive, but did not correct our biggest issue. Listing says bugs may be present, but is not clear the owner will do nothing about it. We informed him of very active ants in the kitchen (50-100 ants visible at any time) and he said the HOA does pest control and the listing disclosed possible pests. He sent a link to ant bait I could buy if we were bothered by it. It’s not reasonable to ask guests to manage your pests and if this is a well known issue the owner should provide ant bait.
How bad were the ants? We found them in the kitchen, foot of the master bed, swarming on my toothbrush in the master bath, in the guest bath, on the couch, and in all of the food we brought home. We are very clean and had food only in the kitchen/ dining room and took out food waste each evening.
Other issues:
- All beds are insanely hard (noted as firm in the listing). We joked that putting plywood on top would make them softer. This caused numbness and sore spots for everyone.
- House was poorly stocked. For 5 nights/ 5 people we had two rolls of toilet paper, one trash bag, no dishwasher soap, no tissues.
- Condo is in need of general repairs. Door knobs barely turn, master bath faucet is seized, gap under front door big enough for a pencil, kitchen seems 1986 original and appliances/ cabinets are quite worn, half of drawer pulls broken off on master bedroom dresser, dining chairs coming apart.
