The kitchen and beach gear are well-stocked, and we easily used the charcoal grill many times. The walk to the beach was easy with the beach wagon. Our only suggestion is to add a hammock to the second floor deck :)! Thanks for a lovely week!

Outer banks Summer Trip

The property was not cleaned well at all. It did not look like it had been vacuumed in months. It also needed a really good deep cleaning (vents were insanely dusty). We opted for the linen package and the beds very made terribly with sheets that barely fit the bed. I thought for the price it would be much more clean and better serviced.

The pool was a perfect size, and we loved having a baby pool right in the back yard. The walk to the pool was more than manageable, as you are right near a walkway. I was also impressed with how sharp the knives were. Many times you use a rental, and you can’t cut through an onion. The only items I would recommend for a future visit would be cleaning up the weeds around the pool and maybe getting new mattresses. My wife and I have a queen bed, and the second floor queen bed was much smaller and not comfortable.

Location is good, it's a 5 minute walk to the beach and the street is super quiet: good for running and biking. Inside... well. It could use some love. The mattresses in the master bedrooms were the worst we've ever encountered. We woke up in pain and barely slept from the bed creaking all the time. Lastly, we highly recommend removing the carpeting. Between sandy beach toes and anxious pets, the interior of the house smells wet, musty and yucky. And we had many spider encounters. The house is a steal for a small family, but the inside could use a little love. The kitchen is small, but clean and well stocked. the appliances work well. the tv is set up well and there is enough furniture for everyone. Overall, it was a good stay. And the cheesecake gift from the owners was a really nice touch, and super delicious!

Good Location: No Hot Water / dishwasher

House was as described but the hot water heater broke along with the dishwasher on our second day at the house. Hot water was restored a day before we left, dishwasher was never replaced. I needed to continually reach out to the property management for updates, and the owner only thought the value of hot water and a dishwasher was worth 10% of the overall rental cost.

Great House but could use some sprucing up

We had a great week in Corolla. The location of this house was convenient to the beach. There were a lot of steps leading to the beach, making it difficult to haul all our gear to the beach (just an FYI for families with kids and/or lots of stuff to carry to the beach). The interior of the house is outdated, but clean. We had plenty of space for everyone. There are baby gates, high chairs, and play pens already there, so no need to bring your own. The kitchen is well stocked. I found it odd that there wasn’t any soap or toiletries provided to start us off. Most places that I’ve stayed in provide a small amount of these items to get you started before you make it to the store. However, the only real complaint I had was that the pool had a lot of debris in and around it. Even when the pool lady came in the middle of the week, she still didn’t clean any of it out. She made a rude comment about the kids accidentally dropping an empty juice box in the pool but didn’t bother to clean out any of the leaves. My husband spent a good bit of time doing it himself. We didn’t contact the property owners/management about the issue. I’m sure they would have sent someone out if we had, so this is no fault on them. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. We even received a delicious cheesecake from the owners during our stay!

Only thing that prevents five stars all the way across the board was an air-conditioning unit that needed to be (and was) replaced during our stay, and a broken umbrella on the deck which kept us from having meals out there. First world problems. And no fault of the property owner or management, but for the first time in 25 years of coming down to the OBX, we ended up next to the high school/college party house this year. There were very large parties of kids 5 out of the 7 night stay. Just showing my age, I guess.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Keepsake in mid-July 2015. Our first impression of the house was that it was not very clean. LOTS of pet stains on the rugs and a general, I don't want to put my head on this pillow, feeling. I don't know if they need to just hire a new cleaning crew, however we spent the first day of our trip cleaning both the inside and the exterior patio areas. The exterior looked as if it had not been cleaned in years. Thousands of spider webs and HUGE spiders and insects. It was like a horror movie. I called the management company to report on the condition of the home and they asked me if I wanted to fill out a COMMENT CARD. Once we cleaned the place, for 4 hours, we decided to check out the beach. The beach is FAR!!! Yes, there is path right next to the home, but the beach is 2-3 long blocks away. We lucked out and found a golf cart company to rent a last minute ($500) golf cart so that we could get our older parents and 3 kids to the beach every day. The golf cart ride took 10 minutes because you cannot drive carts on the path and must go around several blocks to get to the beach. On a positive note, the pool at the house was clean and nice and the owner was nice enough to send us a cheesecake to welcome us to the home. I hate to write such a negative review, but honestly for this kind of money the house should have been in WAY better shape and the distance to the beach should have been more clearly outlined.

Thank goodness it was not anything to harm my dog. The channel list on the TV was very very minimal but yet listed alot of channels that were not on there. But did enjoy the cheese cake the owners sent that was very very nice. Property was quit a bit further down then what I realized but it was okay.

Loved the private pool!

Our stay was wonderful and we all really enjoyed ourselves! The private pool was so nice to have. It was great only having a 5 minute walk to the beach! Also loved having two master bedrooms - it worked out perfect as we stayed in the downstairs master to be close to our daughter & our in laws stayed upstairs. The owners were very accommodating throughout the process. The only thing I would recommend changing is the check in..I understand it takes time to clean the house but it is a huge inconvenience when we can't check in until around 6pm.

There even is a small wagon to transport your beach essentials, very helpful. Less than 5min walk to the beach. Kitchen was well equipped. There are no board games so if that’s what you like make sure to pack it. Wifi was very reliable, TV cable had great selection including HBO. We loved every minute of it! We will be returning!

Great House! Poor Property Mangement.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a great house, great location and privacy from neighbors. The house had everything we needed.My complaint is in regard to the poor property management by Beach Realty. 1) The need to specifically tell you you didn't get early check in. I was told it was in the "confirmation" email and I should have seen that it was not charged...who would expect this in a "confirmation" email. 2) I was then told to leave a voice mail for the person managing the property and they would not call his cell phone. 3) No one was in the Corolla office, people were walking around not knowing what to do, the phone number on the door was very hard to find. 4) the house was dirty, small white canister in back was left by previous tenant no garbage bag and flies around. Left over dirty dog bowl left in back. Toys and plastic garbage left on pool deck. Cobwebs all over upper level. 5) Pool leaf skimmer had bottom torn off and someone tried to fix with duct tape. Impossible to clean out pool. I admit I didn't call customer service about issues as they didn't seem to care during check-in process and just easier for us to clean.Worst check in I've ever had in OBX and most dirty house on arrival in OBX. The owner of Beach realty needs to review quality control and customer service.
