We recently stayed here and had a great time. Location was walkable to the beach and very close to restaurants, shops, etc. We had 4 young kids with us and the house was the perfect size. We spent the morning at the beach, came back for lunch and quiet time, and then hit up the pool in the afternoon before dinner. Kitchen is fully equipped as we ate in practically every meal. We did have an issue with the hot water towards the tail end of the trip. The management company did their best to fix the issue and was extremely communicative and supportive throughout. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay so much that we booked the same house again next summer.

The property itself was great. Really enjoyed the large kitchen and the living room as well as backyard and pool. The cleanliness of the house was not the best but was okay. Lot of dust and dog hair on floors and the backyard turf had some dog poop on it from previous guest. We weren’t given the internet password at check in and had to ask several times for it

Great North Duck retreat!

We loved our stay at this lovely home in duck. You can see the new owners are taking a lot of care in updating this beautiful home. It’s really well equipped for large groups, has super comfy beds and beautiful rooms, the pool and hot tub were also so awesome to have access to between beach time. Would recommend this to anyone that asked! Hope we get to stay again.

All resturants had several hour waits around dinner, other than that it was a good area. The beach wasn't very busy either since it's secluded to the houses!

The perfect vacation

It provided more than we needed and that was a great surprise. Several bikes and beach chairs were available and the beach wagon was the the icing on the cake. It was so easy to take our short walk down to the beach with all our things in the wagon. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked with plates, cups, silverware, pits and pans and anything else you need in the kitchen.

It was clean when we got there. The beach was a short walk down the street. There were shops about 10 minutes away that had a variety of stuff. We loved the house and had no problems with it. It was spacious and the table fit at least 10 which was wonderful as we had 12 of us. There was room for around 20 with the bar stools in the kitchen. Overall we had a fun vacation and loved this house. We would rent it again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time with our whole family (7 adults & 2 kids), plenty of room. The kids liked the play area under the house and the pool. It was a short walk to the beach and not far from Duck and Corolla. Plenty of fun things to do. The house was nice and fairly well maintained. Loved the covered decks but they need to fix the loose boards. Bathrooms were good but could use some upgrades. The fan in the upstairs bathroom needs to be fixed and a screen put in the window. We don't expect a rental property to be perfect but for the cost I think they should do some updating.We had a good experience dealing with the Management Company (Beach Realty) and thought they were very responsive.Overall, we would recommend a stay here.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home was dirty. The rugs were filthy and we had to take them up as a result. The furniture was soiled. The door to the laundry area was off the hinges. Out door furniture was filthy and tipped over. The storage area was junked in the extreme. Complaints and demands for compensation fell on deaf ears. Bad experience.

A day at the beach!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent two wonderfully relaxing weeks in this property. Fabulous, inviting decor and house design with promised amenities. We spent much time cooking, having cocktails, dining and playing games while enjoying the splendid and openly spacious modern kitchen and dining space. Two of the three decks and pool also perfect! We did however, for the third year, have cleaning issues upon arrival and the hot tub was not fixed for 6 days despite tenacious inquiries and request. The owner of property was fantastic and responsive, providing immediate approval for outdoor bug treatment and Nick Morton at Beach Realty is a superstar! Solicitous, patient, responsive and he jumps hurdles to resolve all issues! Bonus is close bikeable location to Duck and three minute walk to beach! Highly recommend!

A Wonderful Visit to OBX!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was beautiful and super close to the beach, and we arrived to a welcoming note from the new owners as of December 2020. The photos need to be updated to include the hot tub (which was great!) and the old grill is gone and replaced with both a gas and a charcoal grill. In addition to a Keurig, there was also a Mr. Coffee machine. There were blenders, and basically anything you would need in a kitchen for baking or cooking. We definitely brought way too much with us!The house came with 4 adult bikes but only one bike had air in the tires and the pump was broken. We had inquired about the bikes ahead of the time, but the rental company was unable to provide any information - so bring your own tire pump if you aren't planning to bring a bike! There were LOTS of beach chairs available.We did have some challenges with the door codes not working, the wrong wifi password was provided twice, and the TV connection in the main room was glitchy, but the rental company responded quickly. Overall, a fabulous house in a great location. Just a 5-10 minute drive to Duck and easy access to the beach. We hope to be back one day!

Our Stay

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is house is on a quiet street not far from the beach. The Kitchen is well stocked, but the cleaners did not wipe it down. Cabinets and counters were dirty. The sink looked like no one had ever cleaned it - gross! the welcome package was supposed to come with a dish sponge but we did not get a sponge. The bathroom upstairs has a broken fan. The ceiling fan in the living room doesn't have remote. The floor felt like no one swept it, so we didn't bother not wearing our shoes in the house. There are lots of pool and beach supplies and the bikes were in good condition (except one had a broken chain). The house has nice furniture, just should have been cleaned better, oh and fix the fan in the bathroom.

The teens really enjoyed the Foosball. The walk to the beach was easy except Grandma may need help to cross the dune. Beach was very nice. The pool was clean and warm. Enjoyed every minute.

Great stay at a lovely home

We got lots of beach and pool time in, and made good use of the play area and toys provided. The house was very clean but I wished the outside had been a bit better. Lots of pollen / debris in the pool area and under deck play area had spider webs, dust, and pollen coating everything before we cleaned it off.

Top of the lot. Great Family place

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: With many years of experience renting in Duck and Corolla, this hhouse was the best equipped ever. We were a family of 6 adults and 3 young children. The playground at the garage level was a treat with swings, slide, etc. The amount of beach equipment was huge. The kitchen had everything and then some. On top pf this, the house is in excellent shape. The walk to the beach is about 275 years. The drive to Duck is 5 minutes.

Wonderful Family Destination

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our family vacation at "Gone With The Wind"! The fee we paid for housekeeping was unacceptable. The kitchen was not cleaned, the countertops dirty from the last set of guest, the oven had left over food caked to the bottom, the microwave had not been cleaned, the knife block had food sprayed up on it, the freezer had colored ice sticking to the bottom and the extra refrigerator outside smelled of fresh fish - I definitely don't found this "Clean or sanitary"! The grass was knee-deep when we arrived and the garbage cans were still in the front of the house empty. We arrived at the house shortly after 4PM check in time.There was plenty of room for our kids and grandkids to relax in the house, on the numerous decks, pool area and in the hot tub. The kitchen is large enough for several people to cook, clean up, etc. at the same time. The large table and array of bar stools made eating all at once a plus! The house is located on a private community street. The beach is a short hike from the house. The owners have board games, bikes, beach items, etc for your use. The sand and swings under the house were a great treat for the kids in the evening or mid-day to stay out of the sun. Plenty of parking under the house and driveway for 8 cars/trucks. The age of the house is somewhat apparent, but is overall in rather good shape.There is a pottery artist located a few houses up with some fantastic handmade items. There is a reasonably priced parasailing, jetski, boat, etc rental establishment at the entrance of the street. We would consider staying here again!

Just what we were looking for!

This home did just that. The decor was inviting and the rooms were comfortable and spacious. The kitchen design made it fun to cook while carrying on a conversation with others on the same floor. We truly enjoyed our stay despite the weather!

Not as wonderful the second time around

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second stay at Gone with the Wind. Our first was in 2013 and even though the house has been updated, I was disappointed by the overall cleanliness of the home. Upon arrival, previous guests had left used rafts etc in the driveway that had not been discarded. The chests that delivered the sheets and towels were never picked up all week even though we called and asked them to be. It did not appear that the pool had been cleaned before our arrival and the pool deck had not been straightened. The fitted sheet on the king size bed in the master on the upper level, DID NOT FIT and we spent the entire week, wrestling with the sheets in an attempt to keep them on the bed. The throw rugs placed around the house, were covered in sand and had not been vacuumed or shaken out. Our dog lost a toy under the couch in the living room and when we moved it we found lots of sand, a pair of flip flops and a dog toy. We also spend the week cleaning up the dog hair from the previous pet the week before. I am aware that this home allows pets, in fact we brought ours, but it should be well cleaned between stays. Also the cabinets in the kitchen are peeling and should be repaired. The dish drainer is filthy and needs to be replaced.On a positive note, we did appreciate the lay out of the house, the large kitchen and thoroughly enjoyed the porches, hammock and pool (once cleaned).

Thank you again for returning to Kitty Hawk Rentals for your vacation. We are certainly disappointed to here that "Gone With the Wind" did not meet your expectations this year. We will certainly let the owner know your concerns about issues with the cabinets and also send these comments about cleaning matters directly to our Housekeeping Manager for review and use as a teaching tool with our cleaning vendors and inspectors of our properties. We always want our guest to arrive and find their expectations fulfilled or surpassed never as your have reported. The owner has done several upgrades in the kitchen area which are really nice. It is a lovely home and is great for large families to enjoy. Please join us again for future vacations here on the Outer Banks.
