We are leaving the house now, quite disappointed. My group is used to leaving the house tidy, but due to the lack of space for trash and the lack of water since yesterday, we couldn't do anything. Yesterday was stressful because of the lack of water. We forgot about the other minor problems: non-functioning electrical outlets, burnt-out light bulbs, broken and very messy kitchen cabinets, and a faulty heating system (very hot downstairs and very cold upstairs). The first day of the year was a challenge, as we had to buy water for personal use, guests were complaining, and children and adults couldn't take a shower. We are leaving to look for a place to shower. I have been a host on another apps for a year, and we understand that guests need attention and quick solutions to the natural problems of a residence. We didn't get anything close to that. Because of this, we request financial compensation, a full refund of the amount paid for the stay. Overall our stay was very good. We had ten adults for a family Thanksgiving and everyone had a great time. The house is nestled in the mountains (10,800 very high be careful), super beautiful scenery and we saw a moose! The house was large enough to accommodate all of us, the hot tub worked well. The game and TV room downstairs was awesome for football, cards and fun times! The outside area is beautiful, great walks and our dogs loved it! The kitchen worked, but is on the small side for a lot of people. It is well stocked but very disorganized and really needs to be cleaned out. There is a ton of old food in the cupboards as well. I didn’t give five stars because the house REALLY needs some TLC. The kitchen appliances need to be replaced. The stove top doesn’t work well, the oven door is broken, the kitchen sink water flow is awful! I’m not sure if it’s a pump issue or a clogged filter but it needs to be addressed asap. There is a definite leak in the upstairs shower and water runs into the foyer through the ceiling light when it runs. I saw this on a review from a few years ago and feel like this is an important issue to fix as it is damaging the floor and ceiling and could be a liability with rot, mold etc. There are some outlets that do not work, fire hazard, one of the lamps in the master has a broken switch so cannot be used. The space heaters are a nice touch for those who are cold, but they can blow a breaker, there is a note about this but it’s badly faded!

Our family, consisting of 9 adults and two dogs had a great time. The views are amazing. There was plenty of room for all of us and a nice big patio where we played a lot of pickle ball, corn hole and ladder game. Very relaxing and lots of privacy.Kitchen could have used a few more essentials like mixing bowls. Several smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were beeping and needed new batteries. Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable experience and we would not hesitate to go there again.

Mountain Retreat

This property was exactly as described and matched the photos. While the description mentions road access, any vehicle can safely make it to the property in the summer months. The cabin was spacious, comfortable, and the hot tub worked perfectly. The mountain views were even better than expected.You may notice a few spiders or cobwebs, which is to be expected in a mountain setting. Amenities aren’t nearby, so it’s best to come prepared. The hosts provided firewood and a propane grill, which was a thoughtful touch. WiFi was strong and reliable—great for working remotely.The cabin comfortably accommodated our group of nine for a bachelor trip, making for a memorable stay. Overall, this was a great value and I would recommend it to friends and family. One of my guests even mentioned they would rent the cabin again themselves.

Great Communication, Great Patio

This place is very secluded and my group had a great time. We had a minor issue and the owner was quick to respond and assist us. Backyard patio was great as well, with the gazebo next to it was our main hang out spot. Thanks again for having us!

Great location but could use some TLC

You’re really paying for the location. The furniture and appliances are pretty warn down. If you have any issues with spiders then this is not the place for you. Also there are no curtains on most of the windows so you don’t have privacy. The light coming in will wake you up pretty early. Really the spiders were our biggest issue. The kids couldn’t sleep in the basement since the spiders were everywhere and in the beds. There was laundry left in the washer and dryer. We couldn’t use the washer because it smelled so bad. The jacuzzi is pretty old and most jets don’t work. Overall we had a good time but I don’t think it was worth the money paid.

Relaxing Mountain Home

We had a great stay at this property! Plenty (more than we needed) of room to spread out, kitchen was well stocked, hot tub was terrific and enough firewood to have a lot of fires in the beautiful fireplace! This property is very high and very isolated which is why we were drawn to it. Absolutely stunning views! So much beauty out every single window! A perfect retreat after a full day of skiing.

Family vacation

We had a great family time at this beautiful place able to view Mt Democrat and Bross out the back window. We had 9 adults that fit well into 6 bedrooms. The host was very responsive and helpful. Wifi was very spotty, but we were not there for the wifi. Any vehicle could make it in the summer to this place. Close to Fairplay and Alma.

Cozy and beautiful.

There was a leak coming from the upstairs bathroom when someone went to shower so we just refrained from using it but there was plenty of other bathrooms. It was wonderful. It is out in the middle of no where so make sure you have proper transportation.

Beautiful property and views

Three families stayed all together and we had plenty of room. Our stay was in the summer and the altitude made for nice and cool weather. Prepare yourself for the changes in altitude if you are not from the area. Your skin will burn more easily and you will be winded with small physical activity. We were are all by yourselves with plenty of privacy. A lot of time was spent on the patio; we brought some outdoor games and chairs. On our way out of the property we had to wait for elk crossing the road. It was the perfect ending to our stay. We loved our stay!!

Gorgeous, but Some Problems

Gorgeous view, ample rooms, nice to have hottub, but not good for cooking. Grill isn't working and stove burners aren't great. We wished for ways to open windows on the main floor without letting the abundant mosquitoes in.

We were not informed the hot tub was broken and would not be working. There was also trash everywhere outside that was not cleaned.

Disappointing and Dirty

What a disappointment!! The pictures paint a different picture than what is actually there. The musty smell was overwhelming when we first opened the door. If you are allergic to mold, I would steer clear or at least don't plan to spend any time on the bottom floor. The living room furniture is shot, not at all like the pictures show. The microwave doesn't work. The stovetop barely works. The blender leaks like a sieve. There were cobwebs everywhere. Dead bugs on the floor and window sills. When we arrived, water was pooled on the floor of the hot tub room. There was mud on the floor of one bathroom, as well as on the curtain. The kitchen pantry is full of things that should be in the garage. The bottom drawer in the kitchen is full of tools and hardware.

Overalll okay. Place was not what we expected for the price. Poorly maintained and Home Depot quality for bathroom and kitchen construction. Floor tiles in kitchen and bathrooms were coming up causing tripping hazard. Not particularly clean and even had a blanket throw that was urine stained (fresh...yuk!). Trash wash littered around property from previous guests. Probably bears getting into bins. We appreciated the number of bedrooms and the overall cabin, but way overpriced for quality of rental. Had much better experience in Steamboat, Angel Fire and other properties. Would never recommend this property to anyone. Disappointed. Maybe good for ski season where people are more interested in a bed and hot tub after day of skiing, but not great for family wanting a nice place to enjoy mountains and cabin. Wish I had more positives to offer, but other than Mountain View’s, not much.

Run down

First, I liked the location- the views from the balcony and living room were absolutely stunning. It's easy to get to and in a good, remote location. There's nobody around, which was nice and private. We had a large group and appreciated having rooms for everyone in our group. Unfortunately, there quite a few things that were either run-down, dirty, or just misstated. The listing says there's a fitness room. Unless we just never found said room, there was no fitness room. This was one of the features many in our group was looking forward to. We made the best of it by getting outside and going on a few hikes though! When we arrived, one of the bedrooms had a window that said 'Wash Me'. I have no idea how long it had been like that but it looked like awhile. It was in a spot that was easy to get to as well. There were many, many cobwebs in the ceiling and dirt in cracks of the floorboard. There was a cabinet door in the kitchen that literally fell off when we tried to open it. The pots and pans were flimsy and bent when you used them. To be fair, we didn't bring these things up when we arrived because we didn't want to have to deal with someone being there cleaning and fixing things while we were trying to relax and have fun. And none of it were things we couldn't live with. So it's entirely possible they would have fixed things if we had asked. That is why I am rating it 3 stars and not 2. Prior to arrival, we were also supposed to receive an email with the door code, which I never received. I even checked my spam folder. I had to call the contact person to get the code. Not a huge deal but worth mentioning so folks have a heads up to be proactive, if need be. Even though it could accommodate our large group and we had a good time, we all agreed we wouldn't stay here again. I should add that this group gets together twice a year and has for six years so we've stayed in a lot of cabins!

As with many of the homes in the Fairplay area, this home has a beautiful view of the mountains. We arrived to a cabin that was not clean - the kitchen, dining, bedrooms, baths. When the management company was notified, they assured me this was not normal and would not happen again. I trust he has kept his word. Travelers need to know the main floor bedroom has no closet available and no where to set suitcases. There are 2 small night stands to set a few things in. Also, when we were there the towel rack in the bath was broken. No closet in lower floor bedroom either, but there is a small seat that a suitcase can be placed on. The shower on this floor is very, very small making it hard to even turn around in it. The bath is large, but the shower extremely small. The information says 4 baths but in reality it is 3 full baths and 1 half bath. It is nice having the half bath on the main floor, but was expecting 4 full baths. The large windows are pretty but do let in a lot of heat. They get the afternoon sun. There are no fans available. No ceiling fans. No screens on windows or screen on sliding door to let air pass thru. There were a lot of mosquitos this year so we couldn't leave the door open. The upper floor bedrooms get the early morning sun and no blinds or shades have been put on the windows to block it out. It gets very hot up there too. If you come for a winter vacation may not be a problem. We enjoyed the pool table. There is room in the home for a large family to spread out and have space of their own. It is out in the forest and I realize that little "critters" may get in, but this home has obvious repairs that need to be done to help keep them out of the kitchen. This is our 4th year to rent in the Fairplay/Alma area. I looked at this home last year but it was rented. I was looking forward to renting it. In all honesty, I would not stay again. There are too many very nice homes in the area at or near this price range. I wanted to fall in love with it, but I didn't.

Great location, beautiful views, but some things to be desired

We stayed here over the Thanksgiving weekend, and overall it was a good experience. There were some drawbacks, but I'll start with the pro's: The property is very secluded, in the mountains and has a wonderful view of the mountains outside. This is by far the best feature of this property. Also not too far from ski resorts although many of those were closed due to Covid so we pretty much just stayed put at the house during our stay. There is plenty of space for a large group. Several bedrooms and bathrooms throughout the house. We had 8-10 of us and space wasn't an issue. We were able to bring our dog with us (for a fee), so that was nice. Wood burning fireplace was great, and there was plenty of pre-cut wood for the entire stay. Owner of the property was very responsive to any questions. Some have complained that they were cold in the house, but we didn't have any major problems. In fact, in some parts of the house it was way too hot. All bed linens were clean. The hot tub worked well and we had no issues with that. The family room by the fire was comfortable and the kitchen was adequate for Thanksgiving. No major issues. Cons: The property is in bad need of updating and maintenance. Lots of dust in the ceilings and On walls, etc. The appliances worked, but were quite old. The property is just showing its age. There is a pool table in the basement, but it is completely worn out and in bad shape. The heat works well, and the main level temperature was pretty constant throughout, but the upstairs was colder and the basement was super warm, uncomfortably hot down there, even with thermostat turned down. The water had a lot of sediment in it. The water is from a well obviously, but the filters need to be changed or repaired. For example, when brushing your teeth in the bathroom sink, there would be a ring of sand and/or sediment particles in the sink that were quite noticeable. We decided to use bottled water and drinks rather than drink the water even though it's probably harmless. The internet is by satelite and, as expected, was very weak and not reliable. Due to the remote location of the house this is to be expected, but we had quite a few issues with it. The equipment was definitely past its prime. The single biggest gripe I had was that there were that there was no working TV service, and the TV's and equipment were old and outdated. For Thanksgiving football this was not good at all. We had to go without.

la cabaña estaba espectacular ,todo super bello,lo unico malo fue la altura que era demasiado y durante los dias que estuvimos en la cabaña todos sufrimos dolores de cabezas fuertes,mareos,sangrado por la nariz,falta de aire,hubiese preferido que en las especificaciones estuviera descrita la altitud,por lo demas todo excelente

Beautiful location and house.

From the day we reserved this property, host Kathy was wonderfully responsive and helpful—couldn’t have been better! The location is beautiful and private, and not at all difficult to find, using a mapping app. The house was clean and mostly well-stocked, with Kathy responding immediately to addressing any concerns. The bedrooms were totally adequate, and the living areas were immensely cozy. The kitchen was fully adequate for our needs. Be advised that the elevation is very high – over 10,800 feet; this can be an issue for people with a sensitivity to high altitude. Our stay was wonderful!

Fantastic Family Vacation

We loved how spacious the cabin and property was. With 3 families it was more than enough room. Being in the mountains there were some spiders and mice but kept to themselves mostly. Absolutely stunning views and welcoming feel. The road in was dirt and rocky but manageable with a Subaru, Honda Van and 2 motorcycles.
