Check out this cute studio a few blocks from beautiful downtown Independence. The studio is a renovated historic 1895 Victorian home called The Hedges House and is perfectly located to enjoy everything Independence has to offer. Enjoy the 4th of July celebration that passes through Independence or the peaceful park that is a few steps away.

Everything was perfect..Even better than the last time we stayed in the room.We were greeted via vrbo text. This will be a room we will most definitely stay in again.Being one of the first to stay in this rental, it has only gotten to be a more enjoyable stay.

Everything I needed and more

I needed somewhere to stay overnight close to Monmouth and this was a great option. The studio had everything I needed and was very comfortable. Beautifully decorated and very clean. It felt very private and was easy to access.

Very nice spot!

2nd time we’ve stayed and will definitely stay again. We enjoy Independence! Very clean and well apportioned inside, outside is a little unkept. Looks like a work in progress.

Not the best experience

The owner was nice to let us have our dog, which is larger than 20 pounds. What we didnt like was the property was right on the main road through town, so lots of traffic. But there was a nice quite park just down the block. There is a very large, like 20ft tall, monster in the front yard, which was weird, looks like groot but scary face. The power went out for about 10-15 minutes, which felt very uneasy and unsafe while we tried to reach the owner to let him know. It's a older house, built in 1895, and being improved on. The back yard was mostly a mess and there was a lot of junk around the back yard, but the inside was new and renovated.

Good, but could use some things.

The location and size of room was great. Decorated nicely. Quiet at night. Loved the Halloween decorations. The refrigerator was not clean and had leftover creamer. It also needed to be defrosted. There were some recycled bottles not removed from previous person. The shower had nice tiling, but could use a curtain inside the bathroom so everything doesn’t get wet. I real door for the bathroom would be nice for privacy. We would prefer having a hand towel holder on the wall or something higher up. We really liked the RF key card and we are considering getting one. The bed was pretty firm, which was not our preference. Better exterior lighting on the driveway would be nice. The price was excellent. One last note, the driveway is on 7th street. We passed it the 1st time.

Sweet Studio

My Sweetheart and I, along with our furbaby stayed here for almost a week. The location is awesome and gave us the opportunity to stay in a small town (lovely walkable main st) while being 60-90 min to family in all directions. The studio was clean and exactly as Oscar described. Very comfortable and private. We loved the coffee that was provided. Oscar was kind as I had questions about the booking (I’m a newbie). He was quick to respond and communicated very clearly. We loved our stay and would return. Thank you, Oscar!

Comfortable stay

Cute little rental. Property is still a work in progress as they are renovating whole house into rental properties but it did not interfere with our stay. Would stay again.

The hedges house was super nice for a little studio. We spent the week with my son and daughter seeing the sights in Independence.. The trolley was super nice to have available so we did not have to drive everywhere. We enjoyed the quietness of being in our space with no one above or next to us like in a hotel. Oscar was quick to respond with our concerns. Check in and out was simple. Did not hear much traffic even tho it's on a main road. The only suggestions we had were a bathroom door( has a curtain but that doesn't keep the sounds out.)😉 and a shower grab bar cause it's a huge walk in shower that could get slippery. Amenities were as described Would stay here again next time we visit.

Comfortable and convenient

Like Oscar says in the review he's working on the outside. It's very overgrown but wasn't there for the view. We needed a place to sleep. Very close to be able to watch sons college baseball game. The room was great. Had everything we needed for one night. Oscar was fantastic. I would use this little cottage again.

Great Two Weeks

My wife and I came to Independence from out of state for two weeks for the birth of our granddaughter. Oscar was great with communications and Catherine was the perfect hostess. We will definitely stay here when we travel west again.

Privacy and Welcoming

We enjoyed the private parking right by the door. The studio apartment was clean and the shower was large. in a nice quiet neighborhood we would go there again.
