Franklin is an easy 2 hr. drive from Atlanta, Greenville, Knoxville and Chattanooga. Asheville is just over 1 hr. and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and Harrah's Casino are just 35 minutes away.
Franklin is the Macon County seat, and offers something for everyone with abundant waterfalls, hiking on the Appalachian and other trails, and under 1 hour to 4 major lakes with swimming and boating. Fly fishing is a major attraction on the Tennessee River with outfitters available for guided instruction. Mountain biking and white-water rafting are also very popular.
