Great location

We had a lovely stay here. We came to do college tours and started our trip early. We came on the tails of hurricane Helene from Asheville. This was a lovely vacation and beautiful spot. Thank you!

Overall I would rate the stay a 3 because every tv in the bedrooms were controlled by the one in the living room and we killed some roaches during our stay.

Last day.

We had to leave one day early, we got up early and there were two huge cockroaches in the beach house. It was the most disgusting thing ever. We also had to put up w ants in the bathroom and the kitchen sink all week. Thank goodness the weather was mostly nice the whole time so we could spend time outside.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Splat cottage is beach and family comfortable with a great location and wonderful deck. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Our one bad experience was when a couple arrived at the upper unit on Thursday night around 11:30pm. Their loud and late arrival woke all the adults up in our party. They proceeded to come and go and clomp around upstairs until 1:30am. Needless to say, it was a short, sleepless night for us.

A few pointers, bring a hairdryer, soap, trash bags, toilet paper and paper towels, beach chairs . I would have thought these would have been provided but they were not. In fairness I did not call the property management about this. Only one shower at a time as there is no water pressure if 2 showers are going at same time. The porch and rocking chairs were the highlight of the stay.

The property is a bit dated which is fine but it needs some TLC. The home needs to be treated for pests. Also, the musty odor is very strong, and I have not been able to get the smell out of my clothes and linens. We had a 3 night stay. The management company did not express much concern or compassion.

Ants Everywhere

Upon arriving we immediately noticed tons of ants in the kitchen and living room. We observed ant traps on the floors, so they were already aware of the problem. We immediately made management aware of the issue and they did send someone out to spray, but it did not help at all. We could not bring in any food to the unit and canceled our stay and left early due to the ants. We even sent them videos of how bad it was. I asked for a refund of one night plus 20% off the 2 nights we actually stayed. All they provided was a $50 refund. Beware. The pics look great, but it's not a good place to stay. The unit also had a lot of clutter and junk everywhere.

First renters of the season

Within a few minutes of getting here, it was somewhat obvious that we were the first renters for the year. Construction had just finished from the nails that the crew decided to leave in the parking lot area (the guy from Bryant did get a magnet and run it around to clean up after the crew. I don't feel like this is a reflection of Bryant as they shouldn't have to babysit construction crews. Screens were out of a few of the windows but wasn't all that bad, probably more renovations planned. The few pieces of small dead insects on the beds were what clued me in to the place staying without renters for a few months. We rented this place out of season and because of that, I forgave a lot of what I found due to them allowing us to interrupt the renovations to stay there. I very much recommend the place as being right on the water was amazing for views, access and relaxing to the sound. Once they finish renovating and are back in the swing of things, I'm sure the property will be consistently kept in great condition. I'm not the biggest fan of salt water but staying here still had me imagining how great it would be to own a property next to the ocean.

Rusty Deck Be Careful

Contacted management but its not been almost two weeks and they have still not contacted me back -we did Not have hot water for 3 days. -most of the light bulbs were dead in the house. - water pressure is very poor. -the paths and gardens in the back are over grown and scratch you up if you want to walk to the beach. -there are rusty old nails all over the deck and and with the age of the nails it’s just going to continue to get worse. It is very dangerous. -I had two people step on these rusty nail heads and cut there feet.

The beach itself is probably 100 yards away, easy to access carrying beach gear for a group or family. The house itself is reminiscent of beach houses from my childhood, wooden floors and wall paneling, simple, functional furniture and accomodations but with all the basic modern amenities for group needs. Lots of chairs, a couch, places to sit. I personally would have preferred beds that were a bit more comfortable but the ones provided were sufficient. If you have one of those 2-3" foam toppers it would be an excellent bring-along. The 2 bathrooms are basic, good water pressure, clean, etc. The kitchen is functional with everything we needed already there even though we brought some items we wouldn't want to have to do without just in case. The oven, stove, microwave and coffee pot all worked as desired. The deck was awesome and where we spent a great deal of our time in the evenings enjoying the sound of the surf and the constant light breeze from the ocean. Fantastic. We were a group of 3 couples, each with their own room and all agreed that the house was perfect for our weekend. Check-in was simply entering the provided code in the door and check-out was cleaning up, closing the door and notifying the house management company through the app on my phone. When our rental became available during our trip down, a nice woman from Bryant Real Estate called me to let me know that the property was ready for check-in a bit early and I appreciated that. Excellent setup. My only real gripe is that 10:00 am is just too early on Sunday morning for check-out time. We were all bummed about that and barely made it out! We only saw 1 dead roach which is frankly amazing considering the location of coastal North Carolina and we felt that there were no issues with bugs, at all. Overall the house and the management treatment of us was fantastic and we will probably make plans to return around the same time nex

Had trouble with the cipher lock when we first got there but called Bryant and they had someone there in 5 minutes to let us in. Gave 6 starts for the location and the wonderful porch. Location, Location, Location! Took a star off because the dish washer didn't clean and the ice maker in the refrig is broken and leaked. Property is older but nice. Lastly the light in master bedroom was really weak. Parking was fine, easy to walk to beach and town center. Had a nice relaxing time there.

Spalt beach house rental

Reviewer Comments: While I was aware of the hurricane hitting Wrightsville beach in September I contacted the rental agency and was eventually told the property was safe for occupancy. I and my family were staying there for a family wedding. On the night we arrived near 10 pm, there were no lights on the building nor parking lot, nor drive way. The units were not well marked as to which was the "middle" unit, nor was it clear that middle meant 2nd level rather than middle on the first floor. Once we found what we thought was the correct unit, by moon light, the lock did not work, which we tried several times, including with a several min break in our attempt. We did call the emergency number to which we got a voice message. We tried calling the number twice and each time got a voice message.each time we selected #2 for help since we did not have an assigned phone number which was #1 choice By this time it is 11pm, and I made the decision to find a hotel so we could sleep, before that I called the emergency number, this time selecting #3 so I could leave a message. Someone from the office did return my call @ about 9am; I have used VRBO facilities before including automated locks - and not had such issues, my brother who was with me uses automated locks daily in his work, yet the lady insisted the lock was working and it was my fault I did not call the right number. This was the most frustrating experience have had with VARO but will not just other renters by this experience. I asked for a refund of the first night, the lady said that was not possible. We did get in the next day, the home was resaonably clean but smelled musty,( my clothes still smell musty ) there was even a cockroach in the kitchen!
