The Cooperstown Colonial is super charming, clean and met all of our needs while staying in Cooperstown for the baseball tournament. It's about a ten minute drive to the ballpark, so location is ideal. The owner is very responsive and gracious. Beautiful property!

I grew up in just east of Cooperstown in Saratoga, NY and my husband Justin grew up through out the south east as a Navy brat. We met almost 12 years ago when we were both living and working on Lake Champlain up north in Plattsburgh. My family has had our lake house here in Cooperstown on the gem that is Lake Otsego since the 1950's. We have enjoyed coming home and spending time with our loved ones in Cooperstown our entire relationship. Cooperstown is so special to us that without hesitation, we chose it for our wedding destination last September (2023)! We had the most magical late summer wedding at The Fenimore Art Museum (highly recommend.. especially strolling the grounds on a sunny day). During the days following our wedding, Justin and I were looking for a way to seal in our memories and put some roots in Cooperstown.. we were driving around looking at property and houses when we came across the Cooperstown Colonial for sale. Within days we had put an offer in on the house and it was accepted! This home has been a beloved summer rental for almost 20 years and we are thrilled to be able to open our second home up to you for you to make your own summer memories in Cooperstown!

We fell in love with this house at first sight. The property itself is nestled in a little cluster of homes, most of which were built in the mid 1800's, just over one mile from the Village of Cooperstown. The homes are far enough apart to have privacy but not feel remote. The southern facing front porch is set back from the main road just far enough where the cars will not interrupt a conversation but you can take in the daily passerby's. The back porch is serene- looking out over the quiet yard, you can hear the creek the moment you step out the door! Whether you are enjoying a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine, the sounds will melt your stress away. Just a short 8 minute walk down the street is the Clark Sports Center- just a few features you can enjoy with a visitor pass are a Sports Performance Area– Three Swimming Pools – Eight-lane Bowling Alley – Fitness Game Room – Indoor Rock Climbing Wall – Outdoor Low Ropes Challenge Course – Outdoor Ropes Course with Zip Line – Walking/Biking Trails – Trackman Golf Simulator. The Clark Sports Center fields are also the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction site- you cannot beat the ability to walk from the house! The local grocery store is a short 5 minute drive as well as all the restaurants and shops in the Village. If you are wanting a nice walk for exercise, you cannot beat walking from the house 1.2 miles down to the base of Otsego Lake to Council Rock Park. The walk has a short stretch on the main road but the speed limits are 35 and then you get to the beautiful house lined quiet streets of town that lead you down to into the village and waterfront. From Council Rock Park, you are a few blocks from the local coffee shop- makes for the perfect morning workout!

This property is so special for so many reasons. One of the most magical is Red Creek. When you walk to the back of the yard to the upper bank of the creek, you are greeted by the rushing fresh water of Red Creek that passes through the property. This land was originally inhabited by the native Indians and this creek was likely a main source of life for them- neighbors have told me that they have often found arrow heads and Indian artifacts in the lower banks of the creek just down the street! The house and the cluster surrounding it are in Bowerstown, referring to the original founding family, The Bowers. The Bowers notably developed their piece of Cooperstown along side the Coopers (James Fenimore Cooper).
