Shipwreck House: Crew Quarters is part of Offshore Breeze — three spaces in the Mitiwanga community, a semi-private beach access subdivision nestled between the lakeside towns of Vermilion and Huron, Ohio. Every Offshore Breeze property is built around the same promise: a well-equipped, comfortable, clean, and safe space for making memories. Crew Quarters was designed specifically for the kind of trip that takes a whole year to plan — and becomes the story everyone tells for the next ten.
Built for the Big Gathering
Two dedicated bedrooms anchor the sleeping arrangements, and a third room offers real flexibility: set it up as a dining space for the whole crew, or deploy the full-size cabinet murphy bed and sleep another couple comfortably. When the murphy bed is stowed, that room transforms into a game space with seating for up to ten — and the shelving alongside it is stocked with games ready to fuel the kind of competitive evenings that become family legend.
A half bath means morning chaos stays manageable. When you have multiple families moving toward a Cedar Point departure at the same time, that extra sink is worth its weight in gold. The living room opens onto a paved private patio in the back, stocked with a propane grill and enough privacy to feel like your own backyard.
The sun porch runs along the front of the house with a large picture window pointed toward the beach — a natural gathering spot for coffee in the morning or winding down in the evening.
No Running Out of Anything
The whole house — all three units — was stripped to the studs and rebuilt to current standards. That renovation is how she earned her nickname: Shipwreck House. She's a brand new boat now. The on-demand hot water system means that no matter how many people are cycling through showers after a long beach day, nobody gets left with cold water. Full-size in-unit laundry handles everything a week of lake life throws at it — sandy towels, swimsuits, the works — so you can pack for a week without packing for two.
The units were rebuilt with soundproofing throughout, so Crew Quarters feels like a fully separate, private space despite sharing a building.
Fly-In Ready
This is how we think about stocking these spaces: imagine landing at the airport with your luggage and nothing else. You shouldn't have to spend $100 at a grocery store replacing things you already own at home. Towels and blankets are here in real abundance. The kitchen is stocked with quality cookware, fine dishes, and high-end knives. Spices pack the cupboards, fresh herbs grow just outside the door, and condiments are kept stocked and fresh.
The things you forgot are here too — not just shampoo and toothpaste, but toothbrushes, razors, hair ties, Q-tips, and more. Families with infants will find a pack-and-play ready to go. You bring what you plan to eat. We've handled the rest.
The Beach and Beyond
The beach is about 200 yards out — a community-exclusive stretch of all-sand shoreline shared by roughly 50 residents. There's a fire ring for evenings, fishing piers where yellow perch, white bass, and catfish are reliably biting, and a clear view across the bay to Cedar Point's coasters running in the distance. It's the kind of beach that rewards a full week, not just a weekend.
Directly across the road you'll find tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court, and a volleyball net — because family gatherings this size have a way of turning into tournaments.
Cedar Point is about 15 minutes away via the scenic old back causeway. Cedar Point Sports Center is roughly 12 minutes out, Kalahari about 15. The towns of Vermilion and Huron both offer summer nightlife, great restaurants, and easy evenings within a short drive.
Mitiwanga
If you know it, you know. If you don't — you're about to. It's a one-of-a-kind stretch of the North Coast, and Crew Quarters was made to fill it with the people you love most.
