Disappointing

I will start with the positive: Dorado Reef was a lovely property. We felt very safe as there were always security patrols. Our unit also had a new grill, which was nice. The back porch was a fun gathering area. Now for the rest: Our biggest problem was that one of the showers didn’t work. We contacted the property manager numerous times, and were promised that the matter would be handled. These promises were never kept. In addition, we woke up to construction noise right outside our windows at 6:45 several mornings. The kitchen was very dated: no disposal, it was not well stocked with any towels, there were not many pots, pans, etc. The key access to the pool and beach was slightly inconvenient with a large group. If one person goes in, the rest are locked on the beach or in the pool area. I appreciate the security, but an additional key would be very helpful. I would consider staying in Dorado Reef again, but not in this particular unit unless substantial improvements are made.

Great Central Location! Nice Area!

We had a semi-family reunion here in March 2019 and had a wonderful time here. The pros and cons of the villa are as follows: Pros: 1)It is a great, centralized location in Dorado. It's away from the hub-bub of the city, nice and quiet, and quite convenient to every attraction we wanted to see. 2) The villa is charming, with the fountain in the courtyard and the cantilevered windows in the living/dining room. 3) Although the Villa does not have a beach-front view itself, it is not far from the ocean, and there is a golf cart in the garage for your convenience if you don't want to walk the short distance. 4) We spent a lot of time on the tiled patio with a nice view of the open green space. It has lots of seating. 5) The villa is in a very nice and secure area and the grounds are well-kept, with workers improving them every day. 6) Those of us who had beds to sleep on stated they were quite comfortable. Cons: 1) Note that this should really be listed as a 3 bedroom house, not 4. The 4th bedroom does not contain a bed, but only a futon which can make into a bed, It was introduced to us in the welcome tour as an alternative living area. When I inquired about where the 4th bedroom was, we were told that was it. The futon at the time looked like a couch. It pulled out into a makeshift bed. Now for young people that might be fine, but for our old senior bodies, it was not comfortable. Where the 2 parts of the futon came together, it felt like a board across the middle of your back. Just be aware. 2) The kitchen works, but it is sore need of a remodel as does the downstairs bath. The garbage pullout in the kitchen was dirty and gross. The kitchen area just doesn't match the rest of the house's charm and warmth. The upper cabinet in the lower bath has doors that are falling off the hinges, and not all the lights work. It needs to be replaced. As I said, we had a great time here, and if you don't mind the cons, then we'd really recommend the place. Management was great to work with, same as all the Puerto Rico residents! We wanted to spend our tourist dollars in PR this year, and we're glad we did.

Great place to relax!

We enjoy the stay at this house. The description of the house is accurate. The house is big, spacious and comfortable. The garden is nice, quiet and pleasant. The condominium is very beautiful, well taken care off and the guards super nice. The beach is a 5 minutes’ walk from the villa but there is a golf cart if you do not want to walk. The beach is small but you are by yourself, almost a private beach. The house is well furnished and well equipped with towels, linens, hangers, etc. The kitchen is very nice and a good place to hang around while you cook. The management is extremely nice and accommodating. They made the check in and out supper easy, and they were very responsive to every question or need. I would come back.

Great house, great location, great vacation

We stayed at Villa Arrecife for a week during out kids' Spring Break in April 2017. We had a great time and the villa was great. This property is between the Ritz and the Hyatt in Dorado. The beach for this gated community was NOT CROWDED, which was fantastic. We essentially had the entire beach to ourselves. The community pool, while not huge and not fancy, was actually quite nice for our kids. The pavilion by the pool was great for shade and lunch. Our group was 8 people, 5 adults and 3 kids (12, 13 and 13 years old). This villa was almost perfect for us. The pros were much stronger than the cons, but I will provide both below: Pros: -location: the location was great. We were able to visit San Juan twice, the Rainforest another day and also another day trip to Pozo de las Mujeres. Also restaurants and shopping are very close -the villa itself was spacious, the community was not crowded, and the included golf cart helped get to and from the beach/pool was also great -Alex was very helpful. When I had a problem with the sound bar on the TV he came right out to look into it for us. -the patio was a great place to hang out. We cooked out on the grill 3 times while we were there and hung out on the patio all mornings and evenings. -the TV in the family room w/sound bar was great. there were 2 NHL playoff games on while we were there that i needed to see, one on the USA network, and one on NBCSN and both networks were available on the cable package provided by the house. We would not have gotten those in a hotel room. This was a big plus for me. Cons: There were really no major issues/no show stoppers for us at the villa. We really enjoyed the place. Here are just a few things that could have been a little better: -the water pressure was low during the week we were there. Alex said that the town had too many people in it that week and the water system was struggling to keep up. This was not a huge issue, but the water really just trickled out in the shower. -the couches in the family room are made of hard wicker with cushions on them. They were not very comfortable. This was our biggest negative in the house. The TV was great, but the couches were not very comfortable. Overall the Pros far outweighed the Cons, I would stay here again, and i would recommend it to others. The couches in the family room are the main reason for 4 stars instead of 5. If you don't plan on watching much TV, then this is not a factor.

Comfortable, Well-appointed Villa

We stayed for a week in the villa - two adults and three teenage girls. My daughters loved the place. It was spacious - 4 bedrooms, a big living room, dining area and a well-stocked kitchen, plus three bathrooms - and well-appointed, precisely as described in the advertisement. The inside and outside space were immaculate on arrival and we used both generously during the week. Nice backyard patio table - perfect for breakfast! The villa was also conveniently located - about a 30 minute drive to Old San Juan. The liaison, Alex, was helpful on our arrival and responsive to our needs during the week. The entire complex was well-run. It is a very safe, well-maintained gated community with a pool and access to the ocean.

Beautiful Beach Resort in Dorado, PR

My wife and I were looking for a nice place to celebrate our anniversary this summer. We wanted a place near the beach, near all of the popular sites but away from the mainstream traffic, and large enough to accommodate our entire family. Dorado Reef checked all of the boxes and more... From the beginning, Alma was very helpful in making sure the accommodations met all of our needs. She was always responsive and seemed genuinely concerned with making sure our stay was a good one. Once the arrangements were made, it was time to take our trip. I expected a nice villa in a well-maintained community but what we saw more than exceeded my expectations. The villa was absolutely beautiful and the grounds were so well planned and maintained, I can see myself spending a full vacation there without ever leaving the villa. We arrived and met with Alex who showed us around the villa and the grounds. Alex was also very accommodating. He was always happy to help us find what we needed and even made a few phone calls to help set up reservations for us. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay went well. The villa was clean and well furnished throughout. The beach was a short 5-minute walk or an easy 2-minute drive away. (A golf cart is provided.) We were there for eight days and in the end, it really wasn't enough. Dorado itself is beautiful and everything you need is nearby but if you want to venture out, many of the popular stops are nearby. My family and I fell in love with the area and spent a lot of time in the Villa or on the beach. We're already thinking about our next trip back... Thank you, Alma & Alex for all your help in making this an amazing experience for me and my family.

Beyond believeable

First off I must begin with saying thank you, my friends and I traveled to the beautiful city of Dorado to celebrate the marriage of two dear friends. Upon arrival we could not believe that we were actually staying in such a breath taking venue. It by far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in to the courtyard to saw a beautiful fountain we were not prepared for what was on the other side of the doors. The place was amazing, the spacious first floor smelled so clean and had such a warm feeling. It was cozy, yet classy and had a hint of paradise. The amenities were abundant. We very comfortably were able to sleep our 8 guests with plenty of room to spare. The furnishings were in great condition and we could not have felt more at home. The golf cart was truly a brilliant touch. We were able to use it to transport our guests to the private beach and swimming pool area. The views were enough to last a life time. Our hearts are truly filled with memories we will for ever have. Our friendships are stronger than ever and the time we spend cooking meals on the private patio help make our bonds stronger. We can not thank you enough

The beach in front of our home is white sand and very calm- perfect for our kids. The location of Dorado is the best in terms of weather since it has the protection of the rain forest and not as rainy as some parts in the South.

The Ritz purchased the old Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort and upgraded it to a 5 star luxury property- this has attracted amazing restaurants and activities in the area. The Ritz has created a nature reserve on the property and developed an amazing waterpark, fitness center and upgraded the championship golf courses located minutes away from our home. Many of the resort amenities are available to our guests, including the spa, restaurants, golf, water sports and more!
