Please come and visit our Bahamas Vacation Villa Rental great for family ,friends and honeymoons.
Once you are past the Gate House you meander down a laneway of soaring Casurina Trees welcoming you to our waterfront Yellow Home on the hill. Situated on one acre of complete privacy facing Savannah Sound- No Neighbors with the most amazing views and incredible sunsets ever.
Complete natural vegetation of Palms and local trees add to the tropical flavour.We are presently planting bouganvillea around the villa to add additional colour to excite the sense of sight during daylight and night flowering Jasmine to give a subtle scent of love in the evening hours.
Just relax on the decks overlooking the pool and Savannah Sound throughout the day with a cool drink , soak up some sun while watching the colours of the water change in the different lights and tides or see some of the most spectacular sunsets ever.
Our Bahamas Vacation Rental Home is only a few hundred yards from what Jacques-Yves Cousteau called one of his two favorite beaches in the world, ours and another that is only accessible by boat.The roar of the waves can be heard while having your morning java , enjoying the heat of the morning sun on the front porch.

Great Room

The Great Room is home to the kitchen,living ,dining, and entertainment areas. The kitchen with granite tops and a nine foot island , ideal for eating for 6 or chatting with the host while preparing dinner for friends or family.The dining table comfortably seats 8. The living area includes an L shaped sofa with sea grass accents and two comfortable Grass and leather chairs perfect for visiting or playing games on our huge pine coffee table. We have another seating sofa to watch TV or as a pull out couch for those extra guests. All of this is under a spectacular twenty foot high beamed ceiling with island cypress and numerous fans. Every area of our Bahamas Vacation rental Property has the views of the Water and Sunsets as well as offering access to over a thousand square feet of covered porch in case of rain or to offer reprieve from the hot afternoon sun.

Master Bedroom
The Master with vaulted Ceilings and views of the waters of the Savannah offer an oasis for the weary. The California king size Tommy Bahama Bed with cotton bedding, flat screen TV make this an inviting retreat. The bathroom is just about as spacious as the bedroom with double sinks, huge walkin shower, jacuzzi tub,walkin closet and separate toilet room all with views as well .
The Master also walks out to its own covered patio for those quiet moments as well. The master has all the emenities for a quiet honeymoon retreat.

Guest Suite

The Guest Suite has a queen sized bed and beautiful cotton sheets as well with a direct view of the waters of the Savannah. The room also has direct access to another covered porch with teak seating for four. The ensuite bath has another huge shower and separate sink and toilet with lots of closet space adjoining.

Front Foyer

The entry has eight foot mahogany doors made on the island from a local craftsman including the high ceilings giving a feeling of spaciousness. Off the entry you will find we have a separate laundry room with energy efficient washer and dryer plus 2pc bath so your guests don't have to leave the living areas in search of privacy .

Adventure

The reason my family chose the Island of Eleuthera was the water. You would be hard pressed to find the colours, clarity, beaches, anywhere else in the world . It is rare but not here ,to walk the beach and not see a sole. You won't have to get up at 5 am to place towels on a chair to get your place on the beach. No crowds just you and your loved one.The people are friendly and helpful.
Our island is a great place to snorkel with many areas with live coral along its five mile stretch. If fishing is your passion , the Savannah has some of the best bone fishing in the world. We can always arrange a guide.
Surfing can be done on island but if a 45 minute drive is not out of the question, Surfers Beach has world Class surfing. Check Youtube for some great videos of Surfers Beach.
We also have caves at the north end of Eleuthera to explore.
Diving can be had at Cape Eleuthera and Davis Harbour, as well as deep sea fishing and bottom fishing . On my last excursion with a few friends we caught a Yellowfin tuna and a few Daulphin. Mahi mahi is terrific that fresh . Eleuthera is my passion . Please come enjoy my passion, you will definitely want to stay.

Even Better the Second Time!!

Returning for our second year to Eleuthera and Whatavue we spend 9 days in paradise. The house was perfect - just like we remembered it from the previous year. It truly feels like your returning home when you open the door. The house is immaculately maintained and stocked with everything we needed for a very enjoyable holiday. Windemere is truly one of the most beautiful, uncrowded beaches on earth. Pat & Gerry are very quick to respond to inquiries and answer any questions about the island or the house. We are already in the process of booking our third visit back to Whatavue. :-)

As we had discussed earlier , we installed the dock over the last 3 weeks after your departure. It will be an added attraction for our home, fishing right off the dock , spending some quiet time on the water and easy access for our kayaks. Glad you are coming back again next year. A beautiful home in paradise

My wife and I along with another couple recently spent a wonderful vacation at Whatavue.  The house is absolutely beautiful and it is exactly as depicted in the photos.  The décor is first class and the amenities of the home were perfect for our needs.  The sunset views were spectacular and the stars at night were equally impressive.  We loved spending part of the day at the pool and the other part at the beach.  We rode the bikes supplied with the home and explored the entire island.   Windermere Island is so beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We fell in love with the island.   The homeowners (Gerry and Pat) were unbelievably helpful leading up to our trip and they reached out to us on our first day to ensure we arrived safely and everything at the house was to our liking.  I had mentioned to them that due to a car rental challenge that we were unable to get to the house until later than planned.  As a result, we were unable to locate Tippy’s in the dark.   The homeowners were so concerned by this that they contacted the clubhouse and arranged for pizzas to be available for us for dinner.  I can’t say enough about how helpful and gracious Gerry and Pat were.   We would recommend this house to everyone.  Thank you Gerry and Pat for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your beautiful home.

Beautiful property in a quiet area

The villa was gorgeous and spotless. It has all the dishes, glasses, pots and pans you need to make almost whatever you wish. The gas grill worked great and was in better shape than I have seen at most of our past rentals on other islands. The villa has central air that you can turn on at night for sleeping if you wish. We do not find central air in many places, so this was rare. It is nice because the vents are high up in the ceiling, it cooled very quickly and is very quiet...much nicer than room a/c. The pool has sun almost all day. The property is very, very quiet. Just some birds and many times not even those. The owners are super nice and even gave us some fresh fish, jack, that Gerald caught one day. We fried some and also grilled some for dinner...very tasty. The villa lived up to the pictures and description of the listing, with one exception that was a misinterpretation on my part. While the villa had a TV, it was just for watching DVDs. There was no actual cable or satellite. The wifi though, allowed us to check out the 1 or 2 shows we wanted to see by connecting to our Dish at home. The wifi was fast and reliable during our stay. Definitely would recommend.

Come to Whatavue! to Get Away From It All!

My husband and I visited Pat and Gerry's beautiful home in April of 2013. They were very prompt in responding to my inquiry and took the time to call me on the phone to discuss the house, Eleuthera, and Windermere Island. Their promptness and personal attention was a welcome change from previous house rental experiences. They were very helpful and answered all of my questions about the house and island//what to expect. They were also were kind enough share their personal experiences regarding restaurants, and shopping for groceries and wine. Between booking and arrival, Gerry regularly stayed in touch and always offered to answer any questions I might have had. We were a day late arriving due to weather, and Gerry ensured the property manager was aware of our late arrival. Once we made it, the house was immaculate. Whatavue has a very inviting and homey feel, not like some house rentals where it is clear no one has ever really lived in it. Their personal touches could be found though out the house- from the well stocked spice cabinet for cooking, to the board games tucked away under the stereo, to the stylish decorating that has been done. The Whatavue patio is very large and overlooks the Sound which is a gorgeous blue and green. At night, don't forget to look up and really finally see all of the stars that for most are normally hidden by the hustle and bustle of city lights. The property around the house is very lush and well kept. The Atlantic is a short walk or drive down the street. We saw hummingbirds, yellow bellied song birds, and colorful bougainvillea in our stroll to the beach. On the Whatavue side, we found two kayaks we used to navigate the Sound, where we spotted many sea turtles and fish. The water was crystal clear and shallow at the beach. The people of Eleuthera are lovely and very outgoing. Be like the locals and wave when you drive past another car or person. Don't forget to visit some of the great eating establishments (we enjoyed Tippy's). Don't be afraid to stop and ask for directions... Or don't and discover some secluded beach to call your own for a day. We found ourselves relaxed and actually lost track of time while we were there. The stress of work and life melted away as did the sense of time. We found ourselves on Eleuthera time, which isn't calculated in minutes or hours but is represented in varying hues of blues, greens, pinks and whites. We look forward to our next visit.

Whatafind at Whatavue!

Our family of 4, with two kids ages 7 & 9, were totally impressed with Whatavue. From the very well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, XM satellite radio, central AC to the wonderful pool, dock on the sound with two kayaks and well manicured grounds, it definitely exceeded our expectations. We were able to rent a boat for a couple of days to explore the Sound and it was very convenient to be able to just tie it up at the dock. They kayaks were great too as it afforded me the opportunity to paddle over to the massive bonefish flat a few hundred yards away every morning before everybody woke up to get my fix in. No shortage of bonefish back there! We even caught a few dock snapper and a crazy looking black eel off the dock. Kids loved doing that. House is centrally located which is great for exploring Eleuthera. Caretaker LaShanta was very helpful and very responsive to any questions we had. (She also has some excellent eats at her food trailer in Savannah Sound so don't miss that, very affordable too!) Would highly recommend this house, Gerry was great to deal with and very responsive as well. Thanks for sharing your house with us Gerry, we certainly hope to get back someday!! The Morris Family

Extremely well maintained property in a fantastic location on the beautiful Windermere island

Having stayed in several properties on Windermere this was certainly the best. Everything worked as described and even the water stayed constant which sometimes is not the case in other properties we have stayed in.The owners were very easy to deal with, had good comunictions and made sure all was fine during our stay. The house has fantastic views of the sound between windermere and the main island. Will certainly be heading back again. All in all a five star house.

Paradise With A Pool

WhatAVue is a great property. The view is beautiful with the changing colors of the water and it's really nice to see over to the lush hillside on the other side of the sound. The sunsets were spectacular. The owners, Pat and Gerry, are super people and their house was spotless and provided everything we needed to stay here comfortably. It was really helpful that they were on the island during our stay (at their other home). The pool was a bonus not only for swimming but it added a different point of view as well. The beach on Windermere is breath taking and we walked its length every day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

Whatavue on Windermere Island

Absolutely beautiful and relaxing and comfortable. The house itself is fantastic, with the spectacular pool and an awesome dock that you can kayak, canoe, swim off of. The owners treated us like family and let us use all of their snorkeling gear as well as their fabulous bikes. The house is very well stocked, the kitchen has everything you need and they have tons of dvds so watching movies at night is really fun. The whole experience was wonderful, absolutely nothing to bad to say, except I wanted to keep this our little secret! It's a magical, peaceful, serene place. The beach is outstanding and the water is heaven. Everything about the house was perfect, clean, well kept, comfortable, but big enough that we were not on top of each other. Great outdoor space and in a great location. And, they had lots of information about the area, things to do as well as great books on snorkeling nearby. A perfect holiday!

Exclusive,Secure!,Private,Perfect!

The most relaxing, rewarding 3 weeks! With its added exclusive privelages, access to an amazing beach which we'd rate as easily one of the best out of all 135 Eleuthera beaches. Access to the Windermere Club. Gated access with 24 hour guard...the freedom to come and go as you please. The property itself is well appointed with tasteful modern furnishings. The pool is the perfect size and depth for cooling off after a long day exploring. We had plenty of papaya from the trees for breakfast and there are recent plantings of banana trees (lots!) so will be plenty for future guests. The owners were in constant contact and a pleasure to deal with as was their property manager LaShanta. Thanks Pat & Gerry for the use of your Bahamas home! Kay & Les, Christchurch, New Zealand

Amazing home to explore Eleuthera!

Whatavue! made an excellent home base for our honeymoon to Eleuthera. The property is well maintained and the owners, Gerry and Pat, were extremely helpful in answering all of our questions. The property manager, Lashonta, was also extremely helpful. The island is beautiful to explore and this property is a great home base for experiencing the island. The kayaks offer an excellent opportunity to explore Savannah Sound and experience the turtles and other wildlife that make the sound their home (including bonefish and other fishing opportunities!). The beach on the Atlantic side rarely had more than a couple other visitors and is also beautiful. The pool was great to cool off in and take a break from the sun. Bug spray is a must, as they can be bad (especially at dusk), but nothing that kept us from enjoying the beautiful patio and pool. The home is a great central location for exploring all Eleuthera has to offer. It is approximately 20 minutes to both Rock Sound and Governors Harbour, giving us multiple options for groceries and restaurants. Cape Eleuthera is a little under an hour from the home and we enjoyed a fishing/snorkeling excursion out of this marina. We visited Ten Bay, French Leave, Half Sound and Winding bay beaches, in addition to the Windermere Island beaches. Half Sound was excellent for paddleboarding (have to find boards to rent) and Ten Bay was also pristine and good for snorkeling along the reefs on either edge of the beach. Overall, we would definitely recommend this place as a beautiful, private get-away! Definitely explore as much of the island as you can, but the home makes a wonderful place for relaxing days and returning from activities. We are already thinking about our next vacation to Whatavue! A Different, More Secluded Side of The Bahamas

It just seems wrong to enjoy a ~3 mile stretch of premiere Bahamian pink sand beach all by yourself, but it's not... That's Windermere Island! Everything else, except the early arrival of the rainy season, was extraordinary. If you don't already know, island life is not that of suburbia. Running water, phone, internet, and electricity are a luxury. Appreciate them when they are working and don't cook when there's a storm coming. When you do lose utilities and just say "Iz the island man" in a Bahamian accent, “ebrything gonna be airey.” The property manager LaShanta was amazing, keeping us stocked and helping us stay comfortable. Patricia & Gerry Armstrong, too, are an email or text away to offer assistance or instructions. I was blown away by the extra amenities (kayaks, snorkel equipment, bikes, beach chairs, kitchen accessories, etc.) at this Villa, everything you could ask for on an island without paying a dime more. There was also an impressive collection of suggested beaches, caves, surfing, restaurants, and guided tours in the binder on the buffet. As for Eleuthera, it’s beaches were nothing short of amazing. Explore the island, rent an SUV, go off the beaten path, crack some coconuts and make some coconut ice cream. We'd love to go back. Our family of 6 had a superb time. Thanks again Gerry & Patricia!

R & R plus Adventure

My husband and I had a wonderful vacation in Eleuthera and Whatavue was the perfect home for us. We were looking for relaxation but we also wanted to explore the many beaches of Eleuthera. Whatavue is a stunning home - we loved the décor - the beautiful pool - and the dock that takes you right out to the sound. The bikes and the kayaks were a total perk! Gerry was helpful and also very quick to get back with us on anything we needed. Windemere island has a gorgeous beach - and we had it to ourselves on most days. Great get a way for couples or families. We plan to return!!!

Eleanor Thank you for kind response. You have found a lot of the reasons why we enjoy Eleuthera so much. When we first arrived, we thought what are we going to do for the next two weeks, and had then had trouble leaving the island to go home. We feel every time we come now, we are coming home, the islands beauty, the friendliness of the people, our friends. Eleuthera is not for everyone, but it looks like it grew on you as well. Relaxation

Our stay at Whatavue was great. The house was very much as pictured and had all the amenities needed. Gerry was very responsive to all our questions before and during our stay. Great restaurant and map information and the private chef you recommended, Philip, from the Windemere Club was wonderful. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home!

Spring Break

Whatavue is a beautiful property with every amenity. The space feels much larger than the picture's and its a well maintained home. The pool is delightful and another highlight is the landscaping. It is gorgeous and you truly fell like you are in a tropical paradise. The island is remote and I do recommend bringing extra food. We would have lunch at the club but my husband didn't bring his dress pants so were unable to eat dinner there. The club staff is wonderful and friendly and the children loved swimming in a different pool! We brought our four children and we had a delightful time traveling back and forth from West Beach and the Atlantic and riding bikes. We do recommend you wear bug spray when the sunrises and sunsets! Once we protected ourselves we were completely fine! We definitely recommend this lovely home to anyone looking to stay on Windermere Island! It is truly special and Gerry (the owner) was easy and very helpful and quick to respond if we had questions!

Relaxing Windermere beauty

The property was clean and very private. Great views of the sound, easy access to the atlantic side as well. The owners were informative and a pleasure to work with. The main island of Eleuthera is an adventure in every positive aspect of the phrase, but it was nice to know as we crossed the gated bridge back to the property that we were entering a more serene environment. We enjoyed the pool immensely and the nearby Fishbone ecotour… catching a sea turtle was a thrill. I would not hesitate to recommend this property. Thanks again to Pat and Gerry.

Everything we could have hoped for!

We have nothing but good things to say about "Whatavue" and our time on Windermere/Eleuthera Island. The house was immaculate and beautifully furnished - comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms, large central living space with a well-equipped kitchen. Lots of outdoor living space (although I will admit that the "no-see-ums" were a nuisance. Large pool and deck area for soaking up the sun. Beautiful view. And there were plenty of extras to help us enjoy our stay: games, movies, books, pool toys and everything we would need for the beach (chairs, towels, coolers). The beach on Windermere was gorgeous and only a short walk from the house. We also took day trips to several other beaches on Eleuthera - all beautiful and very quiet. We found the people of Eleuthera to be friendly. There were plenty of grocery stores and no problem getting supplies, etc. If you are looking for big resorts, fancy restaurants and lots of entertainment - this is probably not the place for you. But if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, beautiful place to relax and explore - you've come to the right place!

Great place for a relaxing vacation

The property is as described - lush, private and very comfortable. The sunsets are amazing and we had the beach to ourselves. We also had a great time, cooking, grilling and swimming in the pool. The island is incredibly safe, and by the end of our stay we generally left the house open when we were close by. One thing that should be noted is that there is an great fishing flat off the backside of the island (20 min walk or 5 min car ride -head north from the clubhouse and take the road on your right - best at high tide). Just looking for 30 min I saw a sizable permit and numerous small bonefish. The house itself has everything you need and is very luxurious. We only wish we could have stayed longer! The owners are very attentive and helpful - one piece of advice is to spend up on a rental car. Ours, expensive by US rental car standards, but squealed anytime we accelerated! It had character.

A Vacation Like No Other

Thank you for letting us experience your piece of paradise, it really did exceed all expectations. We had seen the pictures and knew that we were going to be staying in a beautiful home, but the true beauty and atmosphere can only be experienced by being there. The house was immaculately clean and outfitted with all the comforts of home and more and a view worthy of the property's name. We passed the time relaxing by the pool, enjoying the sunsets, walking on the beautiful beach, kayaking and snorkelling with the sea turtles in the sound and touring both Windermere and Eleuthera. We had a great time on the Fishbone Adventure Tour, and the fishing and diving around the island is great. The only thing we would do different next time is stay longer. What an Amazing Vacation

This place is truly a gem. Nestled in the quaint but elegant Windermere Island it is hard to tell what you are arriving to until you drive up the driveway, see the immaculately manicured tropical plants and trees and this beautiful house emerges. Enter the house and the great room and its furnishings (which are awesome) pale in comparison to the view of the pool and the "sound" or inner harbour down the hill. We were totally blown away. The house itself is extremely well appointed, clean and comfortable. Our week was the best vacation in ages. No tourists, no stress, no arm bands, nothing that you get in the traditional all-inclusive vacation. This was like living the dream in an exclusive neighbourhood with all the freedoms..... driving excursions, restaurants, meeting neighbours and walking on the largest and most beautiful beach we've ever seen. Pat and Gerry.... can't wait to come back.

Beyond Expectations! Exceptional House - Windermere Island

My wife & I had the opportunity to spend our 10th anniversary at "Whatavue". From our initial contact through our departure Pat and Gerry were very helpful answering all our questions. From the moment we arrived we knew we made the right choice. The house is exceptionally decorated with attention to detail and fine furnishings. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need to prepare a gourmet meal. We fell in love with the pool patio overlooking Savannah sound. Windermere beach was amazing with all the privacy you would expect from a gated island. We are planning are already planning our next trip to "Whatavue".

A wonderful surprise on Windermere Island

A wonderful surprise on Windermere Island Several people told us that you should not rent a vacation home sight-unseen. We were given stories about misrepresentation, long flights just to lose the payment and have to find lodging at the last minute. We felt that after speaking with the owners that we were safe, however, all the negative Nay Sayers who recounted their bad experiences left a small amount of fear in our minds. We flew from Boston to Miami and then on to North Eleuthera Airport which allowed us to stay with one airline and only have to change planes once. It also gave us a chance to see Spanish Wells and Harbour Island which Whit had only seen when sailing in the area. We rented a Honda Accord with 55,000 miles on it from a very nice man who was recommended by the owners. Our decision was last minute so we could not get exactly what we wanted but were completely satisfied with the result. We drove the 1½ hours to Windermere Island, stopping only in Governors Harbor to purchase groceries and wine and then on to Whatavue where we would stay for 9 days. The Island was as I had last seen it; beautiful and private. Our apprehension upon arrival was building. We found the gates to Whatavue, drove in and parked the car and are hearts were pounding. We walked in and could not believe our eyes. The home is outstanding. Everything worked and the interior décor was exactly as we had hoped for. The layout of the house is superb. We think that we had one of the best vacations ever. The local people were extremely friendly, we felt safe and the food was terrific. Dealing with both the owners was a pleasure. The only negative during the whole trip occurred when a cold front came through the Florida Straits, the wind clocked around, stopped and then the No-See-Ums came out. Wo we went inside and turned on the air conditioning and everything was OK. The next day the wind came back and the No-See-Ums had gone into hiding. We hope to return for a longer stay. Whit and Ellen Thank you for this review. I know what you mean about your apprehension. We had an experience a few years before we built "Whatavue". The home was absolutely terrible. The owners were not accessable . We said to ourselves we would never let anyone be in that position, it's very hard to show in pictures what the home really is like. Recharge your battery!

My wife and I had a fabulous week. The owners are very helpful and easy to work with. The property manager was excellent.....she came over one night when the power was off due to a storm, just to check on us. The house is excellent. High end furnishings and very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. The house is in a very private setting, quiet, and an excellent view of course. We usually had the beach to ourselves. We flew into Rock Sound where we were met by Dawn Taylor with the rental car.....you pay cash for the car rental. The grocery store was great and we found everything we could need. I was expecting very high prices but the prices were only about 10-15% higher than a large supermarket in the states. Don't waste luggage space bringing food. The restaurants were great and the people very friendly. It was hot and humid away from the beach, but the AC in the house was perfect. A great stay and we plan to return.

Wonderful house and lovely very helpful owners

We had a fabulous time on Windermere island. The house is just gorgeous and with so much love and great taste furnished! Everything one need is there to immediately feel homely! Actually the pictures do not reflect how nice the house in reality is! The owners Pat and Gerry were extremely helpful and are such nice people. We can only recommend the house to anybody and we are looking forward to our next trip!

We can feel safe knowing that our youngest even though he is a teenager can safely travel the island and visit his friends with the security at the gate. We are only 10-15 Minutes to Restaurants, Local Villages, Shopping, Amenities and Bahamian Lifestyle.You Can Have it All.
