Escape to the peaceful beauty of winter in Northern Lower Michigan with a stay at this charming two-bedroom cottage in Frederic. Nestled on a spacious acre and surrounded by nature, this cozy retreat is the perfect place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the magic of the season.
With the AuSable River, Hartwick Pines State Park, and Huron-Manistee National Forest all nearby, you'll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Spend your days snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking, exploring snowy trails, or simply taking in the quiet beauty of a Northern Michigan winter. After your adventures, warm up by the fire, enjoy a meal at a nearby restaurant, or settle in for a relaxing evening at the cottage.

Inside, the cottage offers the comforts you need for a relaxing stay, including Smart TVs, satellite and cable channels, and a well-equipped kitchen for cozy meals at home. Whether you're looking for outdoor adventure or a quiet winter escape, this cottage provides a comfortable home base for enjoying the season.

Conveniently located just over an hour from Traverse City, Petoskey, and the Mackinac Bridge, it's also a great starting point for exploring more of Northern Michigan.

A few important notes: Pets are not permitted on the property, and smoking is prohibited indoors. A $250 fee will be charged for any violation of these policies.

Please keep in mind that this cottage was built in the 1950s. It is not new construction and comes with the character and imperfections of an older home. If you're looking for a place that is charming, quaint, cozy, and full of rustic Northern Michigan character, this may be just the place for your winter getaway.

Great place to stay. Close to trails and can walk to the Swamp Bar for dinner and drinks. Could use a little TLC, but clean, private, and very peaceful.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The location is wonderful, just off the main road and right on the river. There is lots of light and a beautiful setting.Communication with Emily was smooth and quick. The property is just as listed in description, welcoming and comfortable.We will keep this one in our favorites and may visit again.

A perfect couples getaway in the northwoods! We immediately felt at home in the quaint house and beautiful property. The riverside setting was very scenic and relaxing, and also offered recreational opportunities such as fly fishing and kayaking (kayaks provided on site). The house was cozy, clean and fully furnished. Emily the host provided pleasant communication. An excellent base to explore the Grayling-Gaylord area. We hope to stay there again!

This is a lovely, private and picturesque getaway. The frontage on the river is spectacular! There are several indoor and outdoor seating areas to enjoy the view from. Very clean and well appointed living quarters. Well located for both summer and winter activities. We have family in the area and hope to be able to come back to this special place!

Very easy to get to. This is a very peaceful secluded retreat with a small stream running through the back of the property. Real large yard with fire pit. All the things needed for a relaxing vacation.

Very peaceful, well maintained place. Beautiful property right off the river. Had a great time just relaxing right off and even in the river. Great hosts and very courteous. Unfortunately/fortunately we didn't have internet while we were there, which was totally fine. Every effort was made to get it restored, and it was not the hosts fault. It was nice to unplug and spend time with the family. Overall had a great time and made memories.

Private, quiet neighborhood. A great place for outdoor enthusiasts, families & friends, or if you’re looking for an older, quaint, river escape in Northern Lower Michigan. One of the first homes on the main branch of the iconic AuSable River. 1 acre of lovely property that is beautifully wild in every season.
Close to hiking, biking, snowmobiling and ski trails. Centrally located and close to Traverse City & Mackinac Bridge! (Just over an hour.)
