Ocean Dunes in Kure Beach! Lots of Activities for the kids!

Welcome to the Ocean Dunes Resort! We share the most generous amenities in the area.
When you stay with us, you will have free access to three outdoor pools open in season and a fully equipped Rec Center open year round with an indoor heated pool. Whirlpool, sauna, gym, tennis courts, basketball court, shuffleboard court, and playground. There's something for everyone!

This unit sleeps up to 6 with 2x queen beds and a pull out sofa couch. You can sip your coffee/beverage on the spacious balcony that overlooks the tennis courts. There is a private beach access just across the street. Speaking of, for you, our valued guests, we supply coffee, creamer and sweetener.
We love that this unit is quiet and peaceful. You truly feel like you are at rest when you come for a visit.

Activities close by include: the Kure Beach Pier, the Carolina Beach boardwalk, the NC Aquarium, the Fort Fisher Civil War museum, or hop the ferry and stroll around Southport. Kure Beach has a skateboard park and a disc golf course. The town park also has a new playground, tennis courts, and soccer field. You are 35 minutes from ILM airport and 30 minutes from downtown Wilmington.

Also, on our island is 2 grocery stores, Walgreens, CVS, numerous restaurants, pizza and ice cream shops, bars, and plenty of beach shopping. You'll never have to leave!

Explore the treasures of Carolina Beach, ranked one of the top 10 boardwalks in the country by Food & Wine magazine. One of the last remaining beach boardwalks on the East Coast, it includes a variety of restaurants, arcade, shops, ice cream, Famous Britts Donuts, bars, and more! During the summer months, the Boardwalk is bustling with the sound of music, carnival rides, bingo, family nights, and events like the weekly fireworks and concert series. Rent a Jeep, bicycle, or golf cart as the most convenient ways to navigate the island. Annual off- season events include the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival.

Great little get away

This was a last minute booking and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Nothing was unexpected (we knew the elevator was not working per the listing and we opted to bring our own sheets) Close enough to the beach and a short drive down to the Kure pier and Carolina Beach and what it has to offer. A hidden area was the beach access at the end of the island, down by the aquarium. Enjoyed the pool and just relaxing on the balcony! Would definitely book again, only hoping the elevators are in working order then! Thanks for a great stay!

Great Spot Close to Fort Fisher

We had a power outage due to the storms, but the owner was very friendly and kept us in the loop about the Duke Energy repair timelines. We had a great time considering the weather and enjoy the condo. It is very close to the Fort Fisher recreation area which a great beach to visit.

Kure beach

Great location and great communication However definitely need to clarify that the elevator is not ‘under maintenance’ as listed it is actually out of order and has not been fixed - I had assumed when booking with it saying ‘under maintenance’ that would mean after several months by the time I had my stay it would be fixed That is not the case The unit is up 3 flights of stairs Although a little outdated it is a nice condo Highly recommend new beds - the frames are a bit wobbly and one is definitely a queen - the other is more of a full size

I specifically booked here due my disability and the availability of an elevator. When we arrived the only elevator was out of service and we were on the top floor. And of course it was too late to book elsewhere...those stairs were brutal with a cane and many of the floor planks were loose. Terrifying when you are trying to keep your balance. Im afraid this overshadows alot of the nice things about the place..as the pain and fatigue really affected my stay.

Nice stay

The elevator is out of order and the tennis courts are in rough shape, but neither are the fault of the owner. They responded quickly to any question or concern we had. It would have been much more enjoyable not having to climb stairs, but again, that's not their fault. Place was very clean and comfortable. Pool was lovely. Very short walk to beach. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy your beach property.

Need A More Accurate Description

This property feels older but is mostly well maintained. It smells a little when you walk in, but it's the beach, so I'm not sure if that can be helped. The kids enjoyed its proximity to the pool (in the parking lot below the condo) and our quick drive to the aquarium, along with having a TV in their bedroom. Pros: 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, lots of towels provided and a washer/dryer in unit, plenty of seating in the dining area, storage unit below condo with included beach chairs, boards, etc. Cons: 4th floor walk up with no functioning elevator, I feel like you might want to know this if you have small kids or accessibility issues. Bed in the kids room is a double, not a queen, I can tell by how the sheets (that you need to make sure you see in the listing that you need to provide) I brought fit the two beds differently. I assumed incorrectly based on the pictures that this was on the ocean side of Ocean Dunes. You have to walk across the street to get to the ocean, this needs to be part of the description. The balcony overlooks the tennis courts and the porch overlooks the outdoor pool. The kitchen-- You cannot open both sides of the fridge because it does not fit in the space and the bottom needle on the Keiurig doesn't work, which makes it pretty difficult to use that particular amenity. Make sure you grab a parking pass and a guest pass from the bar counter. We enjoyed our vacation overall and would encourage others to rent here, just with all the information! :)

Ocean Dunes 4th floor

This property has an outdoor pool, indoor pool, and is across the street from the ocean. This is a quiet location close to an aquarium and numerous restaurants in Carolina Beach. The host answered our questions promptly and was easy to communicate with. The only problem we had was that the elevator wasn’t working. This unit is on the fourth floor and difficult to access due to having a baby with us. I noticed how high the HOA fees are here so I’m surprised they haven’t had the elevator fixed yet. I say yet because another reviewer said the elevator was broken in May.

Great location but beware of coyotes

Great location and clean property but a little out dated but still clean! The toilets don’t flush well and there are no sheets on the bed just FYI. I might of missed that communication so it was an inconvenience for us! Also this condo is on the 4th floor and the elevator went out so it before we arrived which was very inconvenient to carry luggage 4 flights of steps! Also beware that there are 2 coyotes on the property, we saw them each night. They didn’t bother us and all of the tenants said they are harmless but be alert for kids and small dogs.

My name is Andrea Mehlman and my husband Brian and I are managing this property for our dear friend who lives in Pittsburgh, PA, but has been coming to Carolina Beach/Kure Beach for decades. This condo was chosen for it's peaceful simplicity, the wonderful amenities, and the Kure Beach community as a whole. Everyone her is very friendly, helpful and full of smiles. I mean, you're at the beach, does it get much better?
Brian and I live right over the bridge in Wilmington and can be available immediately for any of your needs. We also own 2 condos in Carolina Beach that we have been managing successful rentals on since 2017. We look forward to making your stay a memorable one!
