Return to Lake Lure

My wife and I have stayed at "Bob's cabin" at Lake Lure every year for nearly 10 years. As always, the cabin was comfortable, clean, accessible to local sites, and a wonderful place to spend a few stress-free days away from home. The host is very responsive to questions and provides many amenities that make the stay even more pleasant (coffee, tea, popcorn, etc.). There is a large grocery store not too far aways for anything one might have forgotten or neglected to pack. For obvious reasons (Hurrican Helene, in 2024) there were many changes to the local area (Chimney Rock is still closed to the public), but the Lake Lure community is working hard to recover and there are many wonderful restaurants and a few shops to visit. We very much enjoyed eating out, shopping, chatting with the locals, and offering our support and encouragement. We hope to return this fall.

Awesome stay!

It was a great getaway definitely with the snowy very quiet compared to the city not a lot open but made for a relaxing weekend planning on coming back soon!

Quick getaway

The space was super easy and only a quick drive to Lured (a great place to eat). The most amazing sunrise and the skies lit up with stars at night. The space was perfect with a bed downstairs and one up stairs. We crated out dog on the balcony and he loved it. The hosts were responsive once we arrived and had a question. 10/10. People come back to Lake Lure and stir up their economy. The people of Lake Lure are so kind. Oh and the pizza joint is also open too. Another favorite. We will be back for sure.

Wonderful cabin

Great location. Clean. Easy check in and out. Kitchen stocked. Bed was comfortable. Owner was very responsive. Highly recommend. Note Lake Lure is recovering and several areas are closed. Accessing the cabin is not a concern. If you are looking for an easy walking trail, we found one across from Ingles and it connects to a closed golf course. Close to the cabin.

Lovely cabin stay, but could easily be elevated to a five-star review. Reasons dropping rating to 4-star: 1. Hard tree nuts dropping on roof, awnings and deck on a continue basis, making loud sounds. 2. Extremely hard to open outdoor trash bin. 3. Too large coffee table for small living room. 4. No celing lighting in lower bedroom with too low lamp lighting. 5. Bed linens/pillows should be a higher quality for the rate charged.

Great view with very nice cabin ambiance

Great place to stay for a getaway. Close and convenient to everything in the area but far enough away to be secluded and away from the busyness. Relaxing and peaceful. Highly recommend.

Continued Excellent Experience

We have been visiting "our cabin" for many years and are always very pleased. The owner/host is so great. If we have questions or needs, he responds immediately. The cabin is situated on a quiet road close to town. We have the beauty of privacy and are minutes from restaurants and activities in both Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.

Great stay in a beautiful cabin located near everything you’ll need!

We had a great trip staying in this cabin. It is private and quiet. But close to everything you could need including chimney rock. And our four legged baby was welcome and had a blast too!

Would stay here again

Property is exactly as described. I stayed here with my son for the weekend and we were both very comfortable with all of the amenities that we could’ve wanted. The drive was an easy one, especially for being in the mountains, and it’s relatively close to several activities, grocery stores, and restaurants.

Lake Lure stay

Beautiful home, it had everything we needed. I’m sure the picture windows that face the deck will be cleaned this spring and the sliding door to the deck will need to be looked at it don’t open very easy. Had a great stay

Wonderful stay in a cozy cabin!

Cabin was just as advertised. Very clean and equipped with everything you would need. Heat worked perfectly. Beautiful view. Quiet neighborhood. Host was so nice and accomodating. We will be back!

I bought my first log cabin in Chimney Rock in 1993. When I first discovered this area I fell in love with it. Our family has spent many wonderful days in this area and have memories that will last a life time. As a sales person during my professional career I used to travel from Charlotte, NC to Knoxville, Tn. for sales calls. I had been looking for some vacation property for a few years and had thought about buying back in Montana. But when I remembered the winters, I came to my senses and realized the Mountains of Western North Carolina is where my wife and I wanted to send down roots for our vacation home. After traveling through the Lake Lure, Chimney Rock area for a few years I stumbled across a little one room log cabin which we soon bought. It was another little, one room cabin similar to the one I lived in while in Montana. I knew it would be a great place to start building memories. We raised our two sons there and have many fond memories of the kids swinging on kudzu vines, going to the Easter Sunrise Service upon Chimney Rock and many other fond remembrances. We still have that little cabin and have had it for over 20 years. Then in 2010 I found this cabin. Compared to the rustic old places I was used to and had lived in, in the past, it was great to find some place with the same charm that had all the conveniences of home...central heat, running water,,,inside the cabin. A place where you didn't see daylight between the logs, ha ha. Oh, the charm. Our family loves our little mountain get away and hope you also enjoy your stay here as well, and will keep us in your plans for your upcoming vacation needs. Enjoy.
