My dad was a former member of the Lake Placid Club. His love of Lake Placid and sweet memories led him to bring us to vacation in Lake Placid. I have been coming to Lake Placid for vacation and hockey camp since 1983. I use to walk the Lake Placid Club grounds with my dad and he would point out all the great landmarks of the historic club. We loved the Adirondack design of the club cottages and when the opportunity presented itself, I had to own a piece of the Historic Club. I actually almost bought an adjacent house, but when I saw Birches, I knew this was my place. It sits prominently on the street and I always think of a tree house when I look at it. The view of the Olympic Ski Jumps and Bobsled tracks are the best on the block! I grew up seeing family pictures through the years with the ski jumps as backdrop so when I look out from Birches I feel like I am home with family. The location is incredible - I can walk to Mirror Lake, Main Street, Olympic Center, Speed Skating Oval, Lake Placid Pub & Brewery, tennis courts, park, toboggan, and my favorite mountain - Cobble Hill! I am so close to the hussle and bustle of Main Street yet at Birches it is very peaceful - like being in a forest with great views!
