Thanks so much Ron, happy your family enjoyed their time. Also appreciate the call out for our quick responsiveness and sparing no expense to get creative and get window ACs and fans so everyone and every room stayed cool during the heatwave when the main HVAC unit suddenly needed a part. Love to have your family back again! :)

Potential renters: If you have any concerns after reading this review and our response please don’t rent from us, it’s not worth you having any angst, vacations are too important. We have a ton of excellent 5 star reviews, saying we are great to work with, house is amazing, are up front about Nantuckets’ trash rules, etc. :) Sadly this is what we got after helping what was supposed to be a kids charity in a tight spot, cancelled our unreschedulable meet your future family/friends weekend before our wedding so people wouldn’t be strangers at it (which they were as we cancelled to help the kids), and renting to her at a tiny fraction of normal rates (helping cover some of our cancelled gathering costs, etc) as our hearts melted for the kids. In return, she left this off her review, she filed a frivolous lawsuit (which she said she wouldn’t do if we paid for all her mess/damage, on principal we refused to get bullied like that) and falsely said she was renting as the charity. Thankfully the judge looked at the facts, documentation, and found in our favor on all the below and awarded us damages and the costs to clean up after the mess her group made. She had to write us a check. We address her points below. The lease and emails we send cover these so there’s never surprises for anyone, all right up front. :) • We don’t ask for social security numbers, too much chance of identity theft, we protect renters by asking for other things, 2 signers, address, etc. • In court she admitted she didn’t send the hard copy lease so we didn’t have it with her requested early arrival time. • Professional cleaners on the island clean everyone’s rentals. It’s based on time needed to clean to be fair to everyone. If left well, average is 8-10 hrs. • Cleaners take 2-3 weeks to get us reports if house left nice. She left a mess and damage so took an extra week to get us report. Contractors are booked solid so takes time to fix damage/invoice us. • Charges apply when locked closets or storage closet covered with a big “do not touch” blanket are broken into causing damage. • Nantucket has trash/recycling rules. Dumping trash from other homes, not sorting trash from paper, glass, etc. leaving a nasty sorting mess, not bagging it so it blows out all over the lawn means there’s charges for that labor. • Again, the judge she made us go to found in our favor on all of this. Hope you never have to deal with someone like we did and you’re having an excellent day! :)

• It’s unfortunate Kim feels this way as we went above and beyond for her family. She loved the house and seemed us too until she got her cleaning bill. She’s mad about the 3rd party cleaning bill and taking it out on us. She shouldn’t have been surprised as it’s all disclosed on the web page, and later emails and lease. It takes what it takes to professionally clean and prep our big home, please don’t be mad at us for what it takes to make house truly ready for next group. Here are the facts below so you can decide if we did everything with excellent customer service. Thanks for reading! :) • Professional 3rd party cleaning company is a well known and reputable. • No surprises - web page states security deposit amount and our home takes cleaning co. 7-8 hours to clean when home is left “ready/nice” for next group (she left the house nice but didn’t scrub toilets inside and out, etc. as most people don’t). Please budget for the professional cleaning of 7-8 hours if left nice. • A renter had trouble leaving a review, they ended up leaving multiple, homeway knows about it but left them up, and looks like 1 or 2 people left review at check out (unchanged and all very positive). • To SAVE RENTERS HUNDREDS of $ off vrbo electronic payment option we accept overnighted check instead. • She couldn’t afford the rent, in the spirit of the holidays we gave her a deep discount and they agreed in return IF they liked the house they’d leave a glowing review at checkout (win win, we all signed lease). Weeks later she asked to arrive early but didn’t want to pay normal charge to come in a half day earlier. We proactively asked cleaners to come early without usual extra charge and we left house early to help accommodate Kim for FREE provided she kept her word and left a review upon check out. She again agreed to do that. • After her stay she didn’t leave review. She didn’t want to pay for her cleaning even though it was just as stated on the web page and charges as described on the the lease. We discounted it to help her yet again. She promised again to leave great review for all we’d done and didn’t, instead you see what was written. Such a shame after all we did for Kim’s family. We went above and beyond several times and kept our word. It’s unfortunate and discouraging this is what we get when we tried to help a family for the holidays. Hopefully you agree we went above and beyond for this family. Thanks for reading and please have an excellent day! :)

Thanks so much Gayle and for providing all the detail for future renters, love to have you back! :)

Thanks very much Carolyn, happy bday again, and love to have you back! :) Note* - For future renters, the island has a strict recycling/trash separation program so everyone on the island has to separate trash from recycling and even the recycling into separate bags of paper/cardboard vs. glass vs. metal vs. plastic etc. We provide separate recycling bins in the kitchen and outside to help make it as easy as possible for our renters. :) Also, cleaning is by the hour to make it fair to everyone and we can get discounted cleaning rate for advanced purchase/scheduling to make it easy and stress free for you. :)

Thanks so much Judy and especially for providing all the detail and tips for future renters, very much appreciated you took the time to do that for us and them! Love to have you back! :)
