Great stay!

The description of the house and all of the reviews are very accurate. Jay is very hospitable, meeting you upon arrival and giving you a tour of his beautiful home. He also leaves you with enough staples to get your trip kickstarted, which was much appreciated. We especially loved relaxing on the patio. We only wish we could stay longer, but we are off to Bend to visit family. We definitely will be back!

Fantastic home with super friendly owner

This house was even better in person! It was roomy, beds were comfy, easy to do a lot of cooking in the well appointed kitchen and hang out in one of the two living room areas. The sunken living room had huge windows to enjoy the sunlight. Water just a couple of blocks down the road. The owner was great to work with in every way. Definitely will stay here again when we visit.

Oak Grove House

We loved this house. It was perfect for us and the other two couples that joined us. We particularly enjoyed the outside sitting area. Conveniently located near McLaughlin Blvd.

Beautiful home by the river.

This home was definitely a cut above other rentals we have used. Very well equipped with anything you could possibly need. The outdoor landscaping was breathtaking with ample sitting areas to gather and visit outside. We were in town for a wedding and hosted a get together for the bride and groom to be and this home was perfect to entertain a group of twenty. The property manager was delightful to deal with giving us tips on places to eat and things to do. Jay even stocked fresh milk, butter, cheese, eggs, bread and fruit the day we arrived. Kitchen was well stocked with spices, cooking oils, coffee, etc. I would recommend this property without reservation.

Fantastic Christmas Holiday Stay

This owner has a beautiful home to share, he decorated extensively for Christmas, an absolute delight ! Lighted Christmas tree and a fireplace or three. Awesome house outside of Portland two blocks from the willamette river. Nicely decorated with three bedrooms, one has a King bed and the others are Queen size. We enjoyed having a house to come home to while visiting relatives for Christmas. All the comforts of home are here and bit more. Many items are available to use in the kitchen, I actually made 60 snickerdoodles in this kitchen. I really cannot complain about one thing !

A perfect spot for a relaxing family retreat.

This home has everything one could want, from a fully stocked kitchen, to a comfortable sunken living room, to a formal dining room and an informal dining area next to the kitchen (each seats six comfortably), to three very well appointed & cozy bedrooms. The bamboo forest is breathtaking and there’s plenty of patio space. The bathrooms are charming, each with their own character. It’s a very nice place. Our family thoroughly enjoyed it. It also has loads of mood lighting. If you rent this home be sure you understand how to work the lights or you may be frustrated by the apparent low lighting. Hint: next to the light switches with adjustable lights there is a small “lever” to adjust the lights. Last, yes, we’d stay at this home again, without question and Jay, the homeowner, was wonderful to meet. He was informative at check-in then bid farewell to let us get on with our family reunion. Thank you Jay, for a lovely place!!

Great House, Perfect Location!

We were in Portland for a Wedding and this house and location was perfect. Jay was very welcoming and easy going, making check in and out a breeze. There was plenty of room for 6 adults. The bedrooms were cozy and the beds were very comfortable. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood and is very private with beautiful gardens and patio areas. The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you will need. Would definitely recommend this home for your stay, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing home!

This home was a hit for each of the 6 of us. Plenty of space for our party of 5 women(2 teenagers) and my husband. The beds and linens were great. The setting was very zen from the nature views from inside to the individual outdoor sitting areas. We had easy access to essential stores. I would pick this home over the best hotel anytime.

nice house, out of the way location

The house is beautifully designed and appointed, and if you like gardening, you'll enjoy the grounds. The host, Jay, is welcoming and accommodating. I got the feeling that neither the house nor the grounds have been kept up as well lately as they might be. The house was clean enough, but not spotless. It was filled with the owner's personal belongings, even including a pair of glasses on the nightstand in the master bedroom, which was a bit off-putting. The location worked well for us -- about 20 minutes to downtown and closer to the Willamette Valley than we would've been had we stayed in town. But it's kind of a nondescript neighborhood and could be too far from the fun parts of Portland for some people. We happened to visit during a heat wave, almost 100 degrees in the daytime, and the AC wasn't able to keep up during the heat of the day.

Very comfortable beds are new, but the house is like a museum of 60’s and 70’s memorabilia. Perfect for entertaining the 15 guests we had over to celebrate a graduation. Very private and serene garden with patios and decks to enjoy an outdoor barbecue. I will definitely stay there again when I visit Portland.

Friendly owner! Cozy house, quiet neighborhood, and 20 mins away from downtown Portland!

Check in was a breeze. Owner is easygoing and professional. The house slept 6 comfortably. Cozy furnishings and clean! Walking distance from a lake and close to downtown. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

This is a lovely home, and Jay was gracious in doing so many things to welcome us! He had purchased groceries for us, including wine and cheese, and decorated the home beautifully for Christmas! He was most kind in showing us around the home upon our arrival. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book again!

Great, clean house!

The owner met us at the house to give us the key and show us around. The house is beautiful, very well maintained, very clean and the owner was very gracious and made my family and I feel very welcome. He had nice touches, such as fruit, milk, etc. ready for us, and had a number of games to play, which worked great because it rained a lot during our stay! We plan to come back to Portland to see Multnomah Falls since that area was closed still because of the fires, and we will definitely look at staying again!

Peaceful, Tranquil, Portland

Good location in Oak Grove to see the sights in Portland, Oregon and surrounding area. Proximity to Wine country 45" away, Pacific coast 1'40", Columbia River Gorge/MT Hood/Waterfalls 1' away, Portland city center 20", Airport 30". The home owner, Jay, was very nice, cordial & gracious. We thank you for sharing your home with our family of six. The home is well appointed and in very good condition and we enjoyed cooking gourmet meals and sampling some of the finest Pinot Noir Wines available. The outside grounds are peaceful, relaxing and zen like. We would recommend to families looking for a private, tranquil setting as you recharge yourselves from all of the many activities & things to see and do in the area. We hope to revisit again. Fantastic!

Great accommodations for my five sisters and myself. All the beds were very comfortable. We especially loved the woodsy backyard. Very tranquil. We also loved our runs (walks for some of us) along the river and lake a block away. The clerestory window above the sink could use a shade. The sun came through just as we were preparing for dinner each night. It was a bit blinding. But, we all were very pleased with the home.

Great property!

Overall experience was great! Jay met us at the house and walked us through everything. The place was wonderful sitting out on the deck was nice. Unfortunately, there is no hot tub, but the jacuzzi bath tubs were nice. Mcqueens was a good place to eat within walking distance. Also had a view of the river in a short walking distance.

We had a great stay.

We had a great Christmas get together here for our family. This was our Christmas with our family so Jay decorated the house and had a Christmas tree for us. Jay met us and went through the house and everything worked out great. We rented the house from Dec. 27 to 31.

Delightful home for a family gathering

We had a delightful stay in Jay's beautiful home over the holidays. The space was perfect for gathering family. The home is situated a short walk from the river which was fun. Jay was very helpful in answering all questions. The home is further from downtown than we expected but did not impact our stay.
